The Ironclad my dear, you have gone through so much bullshit. An interesting idea for a man with a demonic pact, someone who has a bloodied history who lost himself in an attempt to help his tribe the only way he knew how. And we still see that care in how he is now, with his multiplayer cards having an option to hurt himself as a price to pay for keeping his companions safe. He's such an interesting character and I love seeing people play with him

Silent my beloved oh my fucking gods. She was fighting the Watcher for my number one favorite spot since the first game, and while the Regent has joined the fight now she manages to stay firmly in place. A quiet woman who's deadly in numerous ways, fast and nimble to make up for the fact she's a lot more fragile, with a new connection to her sisterhood that shows she values that family connection so dearly it's become her detriment. And now, that attempt of bringing back a worthy prize has her sick with a disease that died by her hand. I want her to live to see the end of her story so fucking bad man. And let's not forget how much she also cares for her companions in her own way, trusting them and taking advantage of their skills and strength to help wherever she can (Like. Sneaky and Flanking deliberately rely on her trusting her comapnions and it's so good)

Also the fact she's silent enough (haha) to catch the Architect off guard every time to the point she pisses him off is hilarious to me. I love her so much, please live when this is all over Silent I am Literally Begging You.

The Regent punched me in the stomach with how suddenly he became a favorite character of mine when I had been almost a hundred percent certain I wouldn't care for him before the game came out. And yet here I am, wanting to throw him at walls and disect him like a bug. A self appointed King, his majest left his home of perfect utopia and instead found his way to the planet of Preon, opting to help those who suffered around the Spire when it finally reopened. He is arrogant, loud, quick to anger in some regards, but gods he has his own way of caring that just is so him at the end of the day. He creates with his own two hands, and shares those creations with his companions without another thought. He's interesting, fascinating, and yet naive as he's never had to suffer before. He's the only one who cries out in pain, his body dissolving into stardust

I want to smash him through a wooden door so bad but I'm also SO fucking curious what his ending is gonna be like. What is your deal star man. I am shaking you by the shoulders WHY ARE YOU FIGHTING FOR MY FAVORITE SPOT WHAT DID YOU D-

Necrobinder my beloved you make me wanna cry. A Spireborne child, one who witnessed the deaths of her family and friend right in front of her eyes. Someone who may have never left the Spire to know life outside of it, who turned to the Necronomicon in order to enact her revenge. Her story is so painful and she so filled with hate and rage that I cannot blame her for a single moment in all of it. And yet, there's still a capacity for caring. Not around the Ancients, she doesn't trust most of them, but around her companions. She shares her gifts of spells and the realm beyond willingly, offering what she can to help. She's kind in her own way, a heart that beats true despite the hand of death and rage that threatens to strangle it. Given the friend that is Osty by her side, it's no surprise that she's someone who values companionship, even now

Will her story end in the revenge she seeks? Will that satisfy her enough to bring her peace? I don't know. I hope one way or another she may rest with her family, or maybe choose to start a life on her own, find a new purpose. Only time will tell. Whatever the fate is, I hope she makes it with joy and love instead of anger

The Defect!!! Our fun little robot, fighting not for any other purpose of vengance, or by another party pulling the strings, or something righteous. Our little friend doesn't wish for violence, only opting for it because it has no choice. It wishes for itself to be repaired, for its friend to be salvaged, and honestly who can blame it? It doesn't even know fully what happened, only that it had to repair itself and its friend is gone. I can't help but empathize, especially since the Architect coldly rejects the ask and forces the Defect's hand to try and reason with him. And of course the cards only serve to expand that compassion, wanting nothing more than to help its friends survive the climb in a way it couldn't with Flaw.

This funky little robot deserves a happy ending, but I'm not sure that's in the cards for it. I hope it is. It deserves a friend, it deserves to live its life. It deserves to never need to raise its claws or charge its orbs ever again, and to just be happy

Biting her biting her biting her biting he- Another one that clocked me in the jaw with 'favorite character' surprise, this time just from the first game! The Watcher is a very fascinating character that has so little to go off of, much like the other three from the first Slay the Spire. Unlike those three however, there is currently (CURRENTLY. I HAVE HOPE) no Watcher in Spire 2 to speak of, to expand her horizons. A blind ascetic who channels different stances is incredibly interesting however, and the potential of her story has me on the edge of my seat as it has implications that no other character does.

She absorbed the power of the Spire, or at least that seems to be the case. One way or another, she is no longer a mortal woman. She has the power of an Ancient Tree inside of her now, and one can't help but wonder what that would do to her now. I cannot help but be curious, and I wanna find out so fucking BAD-

Neow is. Not an Ancient I think about a lot. Despite the fact she is at the beginning of the game, she's quite frankly not too important to me. She's the reason we're here, the reason everything has happened, the one who CREATED the Spireblight. A whale with six eyes, an Ancient Mother of Resurrection, she is a being of several shades of Gray. She had the Heart of the Spire killed in the first game, ending the Blight she herself created, only to awake when the Spire opened again.

What is your plan Neow? And how many of your siblings helped you accomplish it in the end?

OROBAS!!!! Orobas can do no wrong, the sweet living rainbow that they are. Sweet and naive, possibly the youngest of the bunch, filled with joy and a love for life that is almost childlike among the Ancients. A sight for sore eyes indeed, you can't help but be excited to see them any time you climb your way up the Spire. I adore Orobas with all my being, and seeing them talk to the Silent about "Nooooo don't be like your sisters :(" and telling the Necrobinder "Please no murder!!!" is always such a treat. A breath of fresh air from everything else going on in this crazy train

Pael is such a fascinating idea for an Ancient. A dragon of goop that never seems to run out, one of rest and breathing. A welcome moment of respite in the Spire, one of calm that is quite the interesting Ancient to run into. I enjoy Pael a lot, even if I don't think of him much. His design is incredibly interesting, and he's an Ancient I can't help but wonder about more and more as time goes on. What is your story you little dragon? What secrets are you hiding?

Tezcatara you are SO fascinating to me! An Ancient that you think would be warm and kind given the appearance it gives, and yet it is possibly one of the more sadistic of the bunch. It relishes in the idea of the Architect's demise, and despite being so warm and helpful you know there is something sinister boiling underneath the surface. I can't help but wonder what its deal is, what it wants, what exactly it is planning when it decides to help us. It is kind to US, but it wants the Architect dead just as much. What do you want you who Feeds the Fire? I want to know so bad

Darv is interesting to me, but other than that I have minimal thoughts on him. He's fascinating, don't get me wrong, and I can't help but wonder what else he has in that horde of his, but it isn't enough to get me as engaged as I am with some of the other characters. He is always a VERY welcome sight on some adventures regardless, and his dynamic with the Defect makes me happy ^^

*I do love Vakuu from a story perspective but him as a person makes me wanna boil glass and douse it in his eyes

Vakuu you son of a bitch. You slimy and creepy son of a bitch you are such a fun First Demon. Everything a demon should be in regards to all sorts of things, almost to a stereotypical degree, but it WORKS. It works for the First Demon to fall into the tropes, the cliches, everything we're used to. And how he puppets the Ironclad is so intiguing. I want him dead. I wish the Architect had actually chopped his head fully in half. I cannot wait to see what he does next

Nonupiepe!!! Nonu!!!!! Serendipity my beloved!!!! Nonu is one of my favorite Ancients, seeing her on every run makes me so joyous and happy. She is not perfection, she is not just joy, she is good by chance. And good by chance can mean different things for different people, and that much is clear in how she speaks with the Spire climbers. She is good fortune for THEM, whatever that would look like. Yes, she is overabundance and food and regalia and material possessions, but she is also a tool to help slay the Architect. She is a tool of death, as that would be serendipitous for our climbers. She is wonderful, cheerful, and malicious in her own way. I adore her so

Also her friendship with the Regent makes me smile :3

Tanx my dear Chimera you are loud and fun and unfortunately that's all I know about you. Your design is incredibly and wonderful and I love how you shout. I love how your gimmick is fighting, no other details needed just for the love of the game. But unfortunately it is hard for me to latch onto you as you deserve with only that. I enjoy you dearly, but not enough to spin in my noggin

The Architect. A shape I have been obsessed with since the trailer. The one with a staff that served as the clear inspiration for our Pen Nib relic. The one behind it all. A creator, one who prunes the leaves of chaos, one who just awoken after centuries of a sleep like death with possible nightmares to match. He cares not. Any possible care he had was gone. He is cold, callous, careful and calculated. But he is not infalliable. He is not perfect. He can be caught off guard. He can be overconfident. He is not immune. He can be stopped, he can possibly be killed, or something else if his story is not what we expect.

His children turned on him. A mortal possibly stole his power. And now these insects will not stop turning up at his door, wishing to do the impossible.

He pities the possessed.

He's enraged by the silence.

He cares not for the loud fool.

He cares little for the ignorant girl.

He discards his old machine.

He is one to bring order to the chaos. Some foolish mortals with Neow's blessing will not stop him from doing so now.
