the thought of finding and speaking with his wife ( which wasn’t urgent at best ) was shattered when henry found that lyanna was in his company. his previously tense shoulders relaxed, and he was once again reminded of how poised and responsible his eldest daughter was — and he felt both proud of her and uneasy about the succession of his throne. henry glanced in the direction of the dining hall, but looked back to her. his small smile faded at her words. “ i’m sorry, darling, ” the king said softly, gently taking her shoulders in scarred hands to pull her closer in order to press a kiss on her forehead. “ would you like a walk in the gardens? it’s cold, but private. ”
lyanna immediately felt bad for saying anything when she noticed her father’s smile fade. surely he had important matters to attend, he was the king after all. - she shouldn’t be bothering him. still, her lips curved upwards when he pulled her closer to press a kiss on her forehead and she nodded at his suggestion. ‘’ you say that as if i mind the cold.’’ the princess responded with a smile. ‘’ yes, i’d love that. - but what of the queen? were you not looking for her?’’
