you people have to stop trying to use tumblr polls as demographic surveys its getting embarrassing
no, a poll with 1k or 10k or 50k votes is not something you can draw demographic conclusions from, not only because tumblr polls are not remotely statistically sound regardless of sample size but also because this website has well over 100 million active users and randomly picking out a fraction of a percent of them does not tell you anything meaningful about the whole
happening again. reminder that there are 635 million blogs on this website and anywhere between 95-135 million active users depending on where you look. even if you manage to poll 100k people, you have reached (generously) 0.105% of the tumblr userbase. the process by which tumblr posts are shared means that the people that see any individual post (let alone the percentage of those people that respond to the poll) cannot possibly be considered a representative sample of the whole and you cannot draw any conclusions about the wider population based on them. there is a reason that people polling citizens of a country do random sampling instead of asking their friends and telling them to ask their friends. Please learn anything about statistics im begging you all
also stop calling this shit a census. the whole point of a census is to systematically count a complete population. what you are doing is not close to that
