Narcissistic Abuse is a devastating form of emotional and psychological abuse caused by someone with high narcissistic traits. It involves a range of manipulative behaviors like gaslighting, blame-shifting, devaluation, and constant belittling and criticism that erodes your self-esteem. The abuser will try to control and isolates you, cutting you off from support and making you feel dependent and powerless. They may alternate between being nice and cruel, leaving you in a constant state of anxiety, desperately seeking their approval. The victim may look like they are lying or crazy when they try to explain what’s going on because the narcissist’s two-faced nature is shamelessly hidden behind a mask of charm, lies, manipulation and smear campaigns. This kind of abuse can lead to serious emotional damage, including anxiety, depression, a loss of self-worth, and in extreme cases, C-PTSD, self medication, or suicide. It could be described as covert psychological violence.
