To the people, in special people from USA, that are complaining about the order of the countries, I invite you to take a look at the opening ceremony of Beijing, pay attention to their order. There are other languages besides english, I know english is said to be the universal language, but I hope you know that it’s not in a literal way, not every single person on this planet knows how to speak English, in Beijing they started with Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Turkey, Afghanistan… in that order. Does that make sense to me ? No, but it does to them. Do you guys know the meaning of “empathy”? It’s the act of putting yourself in other people’s shoes. Our language is brazilian portuguese, the vast majority of my people only speaks fluently one language, even if we didn’t, this is our native language, and there’s a freaking subtitle on your tv screen translating the names, it’s not like you guys are clueless about the countries that are being shown. This is our moment, our culture, it’s not about your language, your music style or whatever you guys are complaining about. Stop thinking about yourselves for once and think of others. You guys say we’re rude or arrogant but if there’s one thing I know about my people is that we’re not selfish, and you guys definitely should learn that from us. And before you say something about the London Olympics, remember their native language is english, of course it’d be in the same order you’re used to.
