Marvel please just make them mutants again and Magneto’s biological children. The movie rights drama is over, Disney owns everything, just fix this egregious writing choice in the comics and I’ll gladly pretend it never happened.

My final thoughts.

"Jax behavior is not excused, just explained"

I see this a lot and have to disagree.

You don't need the cast to literally say "It's okay Jax, we forgive you." for the narrative to feel like it's handling the character with kid gloves.

All this episode needed was for Pomni to say "Hey, you can't keep hurting people" or something along those lines during her final encounter with him. An open acknowledgment of the people he's harmed would have made this show feel far less hand-wavy of his actions.

"But he was punished, he abstracted"

That was framed as a tragedy more than anything. Was I really supposed to think " That sucks but he refused to change" when “Isn’t She Lovely?” was playing over some sappy montage?

The show wants to have it's cake and eat it too. They want an edgy, antigonistic, flawed and unlikable character but also keep him palatable to the fanbase by drawing as much sympathy from the viewer as possible. It feels a little cheap? I guess I expected a little more depth from a show that’s supposedly character driven.

If I just got done seeing how Jax treated Ribbit and everyone else in the circus, my first instinct would not be to give him a hug.
