I'd been wanting G Suite for KetJex.com for a while, but honestly I just didn't want to pay $5 a month. Let's setup a custom Gmail account without G Suite.

I work as a cashier at a pizza place. The way it works is that you order your pizza with the people that cook it. You can watch them make it if you want, and then you come to me. You then tell me what you ordered so that I can ring it up in the system. If you changed anything on your pizza, you have to tell me. Even though you already told the people making the pizza. Itâs not the best system. Unless Jake is reading this. Then I think itâs a really good system.
The other day, a woman came up to me and a coworker and asked for a to-go container for her salad. We serve salads in the same bowl no matter what, but have lids available for to-go orders. My co-worker grabs a lid and hands it to her with a smile. She looks unsatisfied. âDo I put the salad on this?â
Thatâs a true story. She was serious.
Iâm also astounded at how many people come to me complaining that their pizza was wrong. You just watched them make it. You didnât notice it was wrong then? What the hell man? Youâre making my life harder. If youâre gonna order a complicated pizza, pay a-fucking-ttention.

I got a job.
Itâs official. I got a job.
Itâs been a long time coming. Iâve been needing a job. Iâve also already had the job for a little while now. I just didnât post about it. I work at a pizza place.
Just making this post bc I havenât put anything up in a while. Thatâll change soon.
My favorite podcasts.
Iâm a big fan of podcasts. I havenât actually been listening to them for that long, but Iâve enjoyed them a lot since Iâve started. Thatâs why Iâm excited for todayâs post: Iâm gonna talk about some of my favorite podcasts.
Which podcast app is best? This is a question that plenty of people ask. I wonât be going in depth on the different apps and the features they have. All Iâm going to say is that Iâm a huge fan of Castro on iOS. Now, letâs talk about some of my favorite podcasts!
Forensic Files is a crime podcast. It was a tv show first, and it still is. I wasnât aware that this was available in podcast form until very recently. Iâm quite excited. I used to watch the TV show with my nana all the time.
The Vergecast is my favorite way to stay up to date with tech news. I like the people on it, they cover stories I like to hear about, and itâs not boring. In fact, Iâd venture to say itâs entertaining.
Everything is Alive is a work of art. Ever wanted to know what a bar of soap was thinking? Of course you have.

Couples Therapy with Candice & Casey is one that I just recently started listening to. I used to watch Caseyâs videos all the time, but they got less interesting to me after a while. Iâm hoping the new format could get me interested in his content again.
What if you want to make a podcast? Well, I think Iâve found a pretty good app for that. Itâs called Anchor, and itâs supposed to make it easy to publish on all platforms. I havenât given it a try, but itâs available in the App Store. Maybe Iâll try it out at some point. If youâve used it before, let me know on Twitter how it works!

Rambling about watch/play
Iâm gonna use this post as a place to jot down my plans for watch/play. Iâll keep it updated as plans change.
watch/play for servers
Originally I created watch/play for streamers, but it works just as well for servers. If youâre a game server admin, watch/play is a great way to show off your server. Featured content creators that play on your server while showing viewers how to join in on the fun
watchplay.xyz is here
Thanks to namecheapâs prices, Iâve gone ahead and gotten watchplay.xyz. The basic tier sites will be hosted on this domain. For example, watchplay.xyz/diskk
the watch/play dashboard
For now, sites will be fully managed. In the (distant) future, users will be able to edit the site themselves once theyâve been approved for the platform. A fully visual editor will be available so users wonât need to know how to code. This will only be available in a more expensive tier, but it will allow full customization of the site.
easy sign-up
At some point, I plan on building an easier way to sign up so users donât have to email me.
managed vs unmanaged
watch/play will offer both managed and unmanaged sites. Managed sites are run by watch/play. You donât have to build them yourself. The site is built and hosted for you. The pricing depends on the size and traffic of the site. Unmanaged sites are the opposite. You build your own site to be hosted on our platform. Pricing depends on the tier you pick.

The second watch/play site has arrived.
Introducing watch/play: sites for streamers
Are you a streamer? Iâm a big fan of watching Twitch streams, and today Iâm introducing my new platform for their websites, watch/play.
watch/play is the easiest way for streamers to get a website that shows off both their stream and their game server. For users, itâs simple. Your new website gives them all the information they need to do whatever they want: watch or play.
If youâd like to see an example, check out the first watch/play website I designed for Voluption.
More information will be available on the KetJex Builds website soon.
Get yourself a brand new website for a great price and start building brand awareness today!
Iâve created a new page to showcase KetJex Builds. If you need a website, check it out!
My newest project, Voluption.com (temporarily hosted on my servers).
The bus broke down.
Oh RTD. Why is it you have such an issue with me?? Iâve been taking the bus almost daily, and almost daily Iâve had issues. The latest of my adventures started off well. I was even early! I let the first bus that arrived at my stop go on by to kill some time. I didnât need to arrive too early, and the next bus was scheduled to show up just 15 minutes later.
The bus got delayed, but only by about 2 minutes. I was still doing great on time. I got on my bus, headphones in, and waited to arrive at my stop. My issue was assuming that the bus would eventually arrive at the stop. The bus pulls over to the side of the road, and the driver says something over the speaker. Iâm not sure what exactly he said, but everyone started getting of the bus. It was clear it wouldnât be going any further. I grabbed my skateboard and pulled up Google Maps.
There was another bus stop I could skate to not too far away. Great. I skated towards it, got there, sat down, waited. I looked at the maps and saw a dotted line going around the corner. Hmm, I seemed to be at the wrong stop. I started skating to the other dot. Nope, thatâs where I came from. Back to the first dot.
Eventually the bus arrives. I flash my phone to the driver, demonstrating that I, as a young man, have a youth ticket that permits me to ride this bus that will hopefully go further than my last. I sit down closer to the front than I normally would when the driver takes off, not wanting to stumble and fall. All goes well. I reach for my bag to make sure itâs all good.
Wait. My bag is not with me. Thatâs strange. Where is it? I look around my seat, as if it could be hiding somewhere. Nope. I soon realize I have left my bag on the broken down bus. I signal to stop, one stop away from where I get on. My sense of direction isnât great, but I do my best to retrace where Iâve been to get back to the broken down bus. Iâm somewhat confident it will still be there, since itâs supposed to be broken down. At first Iâm not sure if Iâm heading in the right direction, but then I see a bus on the side of the road. The number matches the bus I took.
I skate up and look inside the window of the bus. I donât see my bag, but Iâm almost positive this is the bus I was on. The doors are closed. I peek into as many windows as I can, still not seeing my bag. I walk to the front of the bus, and finally I see the driver. He seems to know immediately why I have returned. He asks me if I forgot something, and I say yes. He hands me my bag. Thanks, bus driver!
I havenât been on the bus since, but Iâm hoping that my next experience will be a little bit nicer. After all, there is a lot of room for improvement. Iâm really not sure if I could have a worse bus experience. Maybe I am just getting all the bad experiences out of the way. Maybe the bus just sucks. Time will tell.

Custom Gmail Address Without G Suite
G Suite used to be known as Google Apps, and it used to offer a free tier. Things are different now, and youâll be coughing up $5 a month for your custom email address if you do things Googleâs way. Fortunately, Googleâs way isnât the only way.
If youâre setting up a custom email, you probably have a website and a web host. Youâll need to set up an email account with your web host. It doesnât need to have much space, as we will be downloading the messages into gmail and removing them from the mail server. Your web host probably has a tutorial for this. Take care of that. Hereâs what youâll need:
Your email address
Your username (May be the same as your address)
Your password
The SMTP address for your host
The POP3 address for your host
The SMTP and POP3 ports. I use SSL ports.
That may look like a lot, but your web host should make this all pretty easy to get. Iâll update this post at some point to include some help with this.
If you donât have a domain or web hosting yet, youâll need that first. You can check this page for deals on both from Namecheap. I use them for my domains and they are great.
Now, letâs head to Gmail. Once youâre there, go to the settings. Once in the settings, we are going to go to the accounts & import settings.
Youâll notice I went to the forwarding tab first. This is the wrong tab. Donât be like me. This tab will show us the different accounts we have Gmail checking, as well as the accounts we have allowed Gmail to send as. For you, there probably arenât any there yet. Youâll notice Iâve added a few.
Why are we using POP3 instead of IMAP? We donât want to store our messages on a web server. Gmail wonât host our mail server for us for free, but they will store the messages in your Google account. Basically, we are using your web host to send and receive email, but we are storing the messages in your Google account. Loopholes!
â
Could I send you the occasional update about whatâs been going on with me? I promise I wonât spam. Sign up here!
â
Remember all the information I had you get earlier? Weâre going to use it all now to allow Gmail to send and receive email through your web host. Letâs start with allowing gmail to send as your custom address.
Click âAdd another email addressâ and enter your name and email. Check âtreat as an aliasâ and then click next step.
Enter the SMTP server URL, your username, and your password. My port is for SSL, so Iâve chosen to connect securely using SSL. Thatâs all there is to it! But now we need to allow Gmail to check your mailbox.
Click âadd a mail accountâ and enter your email address.
Youâll choose POP3, and then enter the server details just as we did for sending mail. Be sure to uncheck âleave a copy of retrieved messages on the serverâ if you only want to store messages in Gmail.

Public Transit
I began my day with a healthy dose of procrastination. In fact, instead of getting out of bed to catch a bus, Iâve begun working on this post. A post about my experience on the bus. Iâve begun working on a post about my experience on the bus before Iâve even left the house to get on the bus.
First I needed to get to the bus stop. I donât walk, for obvious reasons, so I use this very dirty cheap penny board knock-off to get around. It serves its purpose quite well. I put my destination into Apple Maps and it told me where to walk skate. I set off and quickly arrived at the bus stop. I waited silently next to an old woman who was there before me. We sat on opposite ends of the bench. By this point I forgot I was documenting my journey, so I didnât take a picture when getting to the bus stop. Iâm really good at blogging.
The bus arrives and we board. She boards first. I board next. I show the driver my pass on my phone, which she barely glances at. I have also been informed that I could be buying a youth pass, which would have saved me some money. Now I know.
The bus ride is quite boring, so I had to bust out bloons tower defense. This isnât a sponsorship, Iâm just lame.
Unfortunately, I must have missed my stop. I got very into my game, and I expected Apple Maps to tell me when to get off of the bus. It did not. Not to worry though, I got off the bus a bit late and got onto another one. I switched to Google Maps, which proved to be much more reliable. What a great experience.

Writing every day
Wow, itâs 4:13 a.m. thatâs early. Iâve decided Iâm going to write something every day. Maybe Iâm just not thinking straight since Iâm up way too early, but right now it seems like a great idea. Writing more will be helpful. I can grow my blog. I can improve my skills. I start college this fall, and they probably love it when people know how to write. Thatâs probably one of their favorite things.
So Iâm going to write something every day. Maybe it will go really well. Maybe it wonât go well at all. I guess only time will tell. In the meantime, Iâve set up this blog with a fabulous theme.

May I take your email?
I donât have any mamba
Today, I took the city bus. Before I made it to the bus of course I had to make it to the bus stop. I did that successfully on my tiny skateboard. I was greeted by a woman who wanted to use my phone. She promptly excused me, informing me that my phone was out of minutes. My phone doesnât have minutes but thatâs cool.
She finds another man to ask for a phone. Sheâs lets us all know that sheâs got to call her brother to see if heâs got any mamba. She needs some mamba. She returns the phone and offers part of her, idk, joint (?) as a thank you for the call.
I board the bus and sit down quickly. I become uncomfortable when I realize Iâm in a section meant for, I dunno, not me. I mean, it was empty except for me. That seems like a sign that itâs not for me. But I wasnât gonna STAND UP and MOVE.
So there I am, in the wrong section of the bus. TheN, DRAMA! I hear a commotion! There is an altercation in the back of the bus! The driver gets on his Walkie-talkie and informs everyone that they should behave!! One dude leaves the bus through the back door. He returns through the front door to yell at the other dude to GET OFF THE BUS! He calls up his homies and lets them know they need to pull up at this bus stop. Thereâs a situation and they need to come take care of it. Who are his homies you ask? The POLICE!
He calls the cops! He started it and he called the cops! Oof! What an experience!
The folks on the bus are very excited. One man recorded it, saying that he would be on YouTube. So I am looking forward to being famous as a bystander. For bookings, please tak to my manager.
