The Oscars, like most of these award shows, are a farce....

KPDH/Polytrix may be my latest obsession, but you NEVER forget your first!

My all time favorite Saturday Morning block launched on this day 30 years ago, less than 2 weeks after I was born. "The Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries", "Freakazoid," and "Earthworm Jim" all premiered as brand-new series on this day, as well as the premiere of the "Pinky and the Brain" standalone series. But the real headliners were the Warner Siblings, as "Animaniacs" had jumped ship to Kids' WB! after being on Fox Kids for two years....

While Kids' WB! was popular to start out with, the fledgling block would get a huge boost in 1999 when "Pokemon" began airing. From there, other action cartoons and anime followed such as "Batman Beyond," X-Men Evolution," "Yu-Gi-Oh!", "Cardcaptors," and even (one of) my personal favorites: "Static Shock"! Kids' WB! Also had its own weekday afternoon and weekday morning blocks as well, but the weekday morning block ended in 2001, with the weekday afternoon block ending in 2005. With The WB becoming the CW in 2006, it wouldn't be much longer until Kids' WB! met its demise.

This is my reaction:

30 years ago today, "Meat Fuzzy Lumkins", the very first What-A-Cartoon short, premiered on Cartoon Network! It was the first of 2 (technically 3, if you count "Whoopass Stew") pilots for the PPG series.

It might be a hot take here, but I always liked how Fuzzy was portrayed in this short: He was a villain here, but in this pilot, he was a little more smarter in planning his scheme, going as far as to create a literal meat gun. In the series proper, he was dumbed down a bit and flipped out at even the smallest of slights.
