Let me give you some examples to prove my point.
The MOTHER Nature is a feminist. Hereditary comes from women, continuation of race and family and species come from women. The earth is sustaining because of women. But it also gave MEN the power to help support the procedure and take part in Reproduction.
In the generally oldest considered religion - Hinduism (many will fight for Judaism or Zoroastrianism but the timeline in Hindu texts, cross-checked with astronomy, dates back many millennias. More than does of Judaism or Zoroastrianism but I am not here to fight over religion), the earliest of the texts and practices give equal rights and respect to women as to men. So, we can assume, the start, itself, was with feminism.
Hinduism has GODDESSES which are responsible for THE START of the Universe, THE POWER OF HUMAN BEINGS, MONEY AND PROSPERITY, AND KNOWLEDGE.
Zoroastrianism has since its inception recognized total spiritual equality between women and men. The spiritual founder of Zoroastrianism, the eponymous Zoroaster, explicitly addressed both men and women, and affirmed that individuals of either gender could be righteous and could achieve salvation, an apparent innovation compared to the preceding polytheistic Iranian faiths.

Across thousands of years, men evolved, and started viewing women as an object, a burden, an impurity, a reproductive machine. What did the women do? They appealed to the men. But was it the women's fault to have wider hips or more curves?
Patriarchy started the moment sex stopped being a natural process.
Patriarchy began eating up religion when it made men pick up women and do all kinds of things to them. It ended up in the culture that to be safe, women need to HIDE.
Patriarchy changed religion when it started interpreting the text to it's on belief.
Patriarchy SPREAD when WOMEN WERE AFFECTED BY IT AND MOULDED THEIR DAUGHTERS TO FIT IT'S FRAMEWORK.
Patriarchy, my dear friends, tells us, that we, as women, need to be safe.
But my question is, to all fellow patriarchs, safe from whom?
Afghan girls, Sudanese girls, Congolese girls, Palestinian girls and all the women of colour whose pain is justified away because "it's the region/the religion/the culture and those things never change", we remember you on Women's day. How I feel is until all women everywhere can live life totally free, we're all a few fascist moves from losing the little autonomy we have in our countries.
May we all one day experience total woman victory where all our sisters live fully autonomous lives free from violence, harm, control and subterfuge.
