Being a mechanic was a hard job, but well worth it. Amelia loved it, even if her coworkers were a little annoying. Most people wouldn’t think that a girl would work on cars for work, but she did. Amelia was underneath a Jeep, tightening some bolts that were scarily loose. It was a hot day, especially in the garage. Fans working overtime, trying to cool all the mechanics as they worked. One of Amelia’s coworkers walked past her, kicking her foot jokily.

“Working hard or hardly working?” The man chuckled. He was probably the only person there who actually liked Amelia. The other guys barely tolerated her. They were old anyways, who cares.

“Go away, this car ain’t fixing itself.” She wiggled her foot to try and hit him back, but he managed to sneak away. She sighed, rolling back out. She sat up, stretching her arms. Being a mechanic meant she got lots of exercise. Her body was toned, letting her carry heavy metals to fix things up. She grabbed a cloth from her pocket, wiping her forehead. She got up, walking around the Jeep, seeing if anything else was wrong. The Jeep look brand new. Amelia smiled at her work. She marked it as completed and let the owner come pick it up. She walked over to the break room, grabbing a water bottle out of the fridge. She took a few gulps, refreshing herself. It was a long day, but rewarding.

“You’ll never get a boy lookin’ like that,” A man grumbled from the hallway. It was one of her coworkers, but not the nice ones. He was a bit of a stick-in-the-mud. He was an old timer and he made sure to mention it to everyone when he saw something different.

“Right. Whatever,” She sighed, rolling her eyes. She walked out and back to the garage, wanting to get away from him, except he managed to bump into the group that seemed to find her hilarious. They sneered when she walked over.

“You should shower! You look dusty!” They snickered. Idiots. Amelia had long since blocked them out of her head. Misogynistic bastards don’t deserve her attention.

“Woah, hold up. Who’s that!” One of the guys pointed. In walked a gorgeous lady, wearing a light blue dress and a sun hat. She smiled at Amelia.

“Hi, Amelia,” She greeted, walking over to her. Amelia laughed softly, taking her hand.

“You didn’t have to come here. I’m not exactly date ready…”

“Oh, nonsense,” she waved off, slotting her hand in with Amelia’s. “You look beautiful all the time.”
