so you know how they deliberately pulled in new voice talent for diego so people would know "hey. diego isn't dio. its a different guy from a different universe". and how they didn't bring back jonathan's VA for johnny for similar reasons?

that's my main gripe with this. yes we've had some repeat voices in jojo (yoyo ma's VA was also shigechi), but this is egregious. the implications of funny being joseph are frightening to me. using a major voice from the 1-6 universe creates a connection between those characters that should not be there

like i'm also a fan of sugita, and maybe this is just from him wanting to come back to this series, like maybe he's just a fan of jojo? but why did he audition for a major role. whatda heck

I place zero blame on Sugita - voicing another major character in this series is a sweet gig but whoever was in charge of casting for this season was off their rocker 💀 I'm not even thinking as far as the whole "intangible connection between characters" although I get your point - especially being post-universe reset (also SPOILER we do have a Joseph Joestar in this universe showing up in Part 8). From the bit of FV we got in the trailer you can tell he talks in a fairly lower register than Joseph, so there's an effort in making the two voices distinct but he's still immediately recognisable to me as he voices two of my favourite fictional dudes of all time so it's like whyyyyyyyy.

On a positive note - Yoko Hikasa as Hot Pants is legendary so I'm choosing to channel positive vibes only. FV won't ruin this for meee
