Day Seven of Port Mafia week: Free Day
i feel she is underappreciated as a character, so here’s my sad attempt at showing her some love. it’s been fun and quick shoutout to all @portmafia-week admins for being awesome! :) <3 Hana
Elise feels more than she lets on. While yes, she is stuck to Mori’s side 90% of the time and could care less about the state of affairs within the Port Mafia, she has discovered over the years that she enjoys quite a few things beyond sweets and coloring.
She enjoys the trips with Chuuya out to get sweets when Rintarou is too busy. Elise actually prefers the trips alone with him. He is more likely to buy her an extra slice of cake when Rintarou isn’t there. And he smiles a bit more. She knows he only does it because of his loyalty to the Port Mafia and that she belongs to Chuuya’s boss but…she hopes that maybe he does it because he enjoys it too.
She likes to go dress shopping with Kouyou the most. Rintarou is so controlling about the dresses she wears; always picking frilly things and bows and similar things that haven’t changed in who knows how long. It’s always the same with him. But with Kouyou, she lets Elise try on everything. Elise’s favorite is the pink kimono she tried on once. It was almost just like Kouyou’s, with her hair tied back into double buns and a red butterfly pendant holding her golden locks in place on top of her head. Kouyou’s eyes had gone wide when Elise had twirled in front of her, spinning gracefully on her geta causing the sleeves of the kimono to billow out.
“Just like a flower in bloom” she had said, a stray tear that Elise kept secret sneaking down her cheek.
Elise loves to mess with Akutagawa. Mostly because he can’t do anything to hurt her. Especially when he has his calligraphy brushes out. One time she switched the ink color from black to a bright blue and she was rolling in laughter when he broke his desk in anger. Now, Elise tiptoes into his office and hoists herself on the edge of his desk, the white paper only just beginning to be marked with black ink strokes. He never acknowledges her outwardly beyond the grinding of his teeth. She has a couple of bottles of ink in her dress pocket, a deep red and pink. Elise coughs into her fist to get his attention but he continues to write, hands moving with surprising grace across the paper. She coughs again.
“Do you even get sick?” he says. “Mori-san will be worried.”
Elise tried to hide the blush on her cheeks. “I have a favor to ask.”
Akutagawa stops suddenly, a small pool of black ink forming from the hover of his brush. “If there is something you want, the Boss would order it.”
“It’s a surprise!” She bursts out. He finally turns his gray eyes to her. Elise pulls the pots of ink from her pockets, along with the extra brushes she had gotten. His eyes drift to the objects, brow raising in curiosity. She hops down and walks to his side before raising her lips to his ear. Elise whispers her request, Akutagawa’s eyes widen before narrowing in focus to turn fully in his seat to her.
“Pay attention then, Elise-chan.”
Mori walks to hallways of Port Mafia HQ with a haste to his step. It had been hours since he had last seen Elise, and normally she would have returned to his office by now. He knew she got bored with sitting all day when he had meetings and paperwork to attend to, so he released her to wander knowing she would be safe within the walls of his domain. Yet she always came back, if only to yell at him for cake, and she hadn’t. It was unlike her, and while he could easily forcefully summon her to his side, he preferred to give her some freedom. That’s how love was supposed to work right?
Her laughter rang out from one of the banquet halls before a ‘shh’ quieted her down. No one should have been in there and no one told his Elise to shh. Except him that is. Mori pulled the scalpel he kept tucked in his sleeve, running a hand through his hair to push his bangs back to the style associated with the Head of the Port Mafia. He shoved open the closed double doors hard, the hinges creaking with too much force and the handles hitting the walls. Red eyes widen though at the scene before him.
Inside were all the major members of the Port Mafia. The Black Lizard, Akutagawa and Higuchi, Chuuya and Kouyou, all standing casually with the adult members holding glasses of wine. Their eyes all turned to him but he was focused on the girl standing in the middle of the ballroom floor. She wasn’t wearing her usual red dress, but a red kimono with a butterfly clip holding her blonde hair up. Above her, a banner written in both novice and expert calligraphy in black, red, and pink inks. Elise spun, the fabric flowing out around her before swishing to as stop when she faced him again to put her hands on her hips.
