suddenly I'm thrown back to december '25 arguing over a character being a comphet lesbian but this time I have even more clear proof on my side and it's even more frustrating

I always feel this sick feeling when I realize I will never forget the lord's prayer, that no matter how far away I take myself from religion those words are imprinted on my mind. I can recite them without even paying attention to what I'm saying. I don't even have a bad relationship with faith per say, I chose to persue it when I was younger. I'm the reason my family got back to church after we moved to Belgium. And I got out of it by choice, without any real reason besides the fact it just wasn't for me. But the idea that words can be that imprinted on your mind even when you don't believe them anymore just sits wrong with me. It makes me think of all the people who did not have the luxury of choice like I did. Who are in far worse churches that I was in. People that have far worse things imprinted on their minds than the lord's prayer. Everytime I tell someone I'm not religious anymore they expect me to tell them something that happened to me, like the only reason I'd choose to stop believing is if something bad happened to me, like empathy and realizing my church was good ≠ the system is good isn't an enough reason to get out.
