I find myself pretty disproportionately interested in other people's opinions on The Amazing Digital Circus relative to my own.

My time watching the series was pretty unremarkable (not to say it was bad though), yet I've spent hours going pretty out of my way to read what other people think of it.

Oh no, the Pokemon nostalgia, it's finally coming to me. I haven't enjoyed a Pokemon game in like 8 years, but I finally decided to go and check out Black/White since it always seemed like one of the coolest Pokemon games. I beat Pokemon Black today and really enjoyed it, I've been reminded why I liked this series in the first place.

Overall Summer Games Fest thoughts:

I really don't miss E3, I actually (for the most part) prefer things the way they are now.

Despite featuring the upcoming game I'm most likely to actually play (Marvel Tokon), the State Of Play was the weakest showcase for me personally. I'm not a fan watching long uncut gameplay segments in these sorts of showcases, so the State Of Play having 2 of them really drags it down.

The main Sunmer Games Fest event didn't have much that I loved, but it didn't have much that annoyed me either. I would say it was fine, but when watching it live the framerate and audio desync were comically abysmal which I was amused by.

Xbox Games Showcase had that Gears Of War gameplay segment which I didn't like, but I found the rest of it pretty well paced.

The Nintendo Direct feels pretty undercut by Nintendo choosing to sprinkle a lot of their announcements outside of Directs nowadays. The advertisement part of these advertisement showcases really sets in when games with no particularly notable announcements are shown off like Splatoon Raiders and Star Fox (2026).

I watched some of the other showcases as well, but they're a blur in my head. I generally find them to just be better than the bigger-name showcases though, they tend to have a much greater variety of games.

#Summer Games Fest

I succumbed to trying out the Dawnthief demo (I typically don't like playing demos because they can get me too hyped up for a game), and it's actually better than I expected.

I was expecting it to feel on par with Curse Crackers, but the long jump in particular feels even more fantastic. There's so much momentum behind the long jump, I especially love chaining the long jump's momentum into the regular jump.

I was weary at first when it was announced that the camera got zoomed out, Typically zooming out/extending the camera in 2D games just looks terrible to me, I value the literal framing of games' visuals, and I think Colorgrave games stylistically benefit from zoomed in cameras since they go for cutesy retro aesthetics. Ultimately upon playing the demo though, I came to the conclusion that Dawnthief actually still looks fantastic, if not better this way. The zoomed out camera is also just nice for the gameplay of course.

I put like 5 hours into The Climb today, it's a decent gamemode. I don't think it's a particulary innovative concept, but I found a lot of the individual upgrades to be pretty fun and creative.

Also wow, why are the menus so busted? I haven't played in months so I don't know if this is a new issue but sometimes I'm locked out of menu inputs for over a minute at a time.

Jujutsu Kaisen getting a Vampire Survivors pvp game is funny, thank you Nintendo

The DMC5 trailer featured no combos, thank you Nintendo

Switch Sports Resort looks creatively bankrupt, thank you Nintendo

Deltarune is something I actually play, thank you Nintendo

Ocarina Of Time Remake looks creatively bankrupt, for once I feel better about having an announcement get spoiled for me by leaks, thank you Nintendo

Unfortunately a lot of the most interesting looking trailers were for stuff I don't care to play like Fire Emblem, Xenoblade Chronicles, and Kingdom Hearts.

Summer Games Fest… it's all a blur in my mind.

I'm attracted to men and women, but I'm attracted to like 100x more women than men so men that I like don't come up much. For Pride Month here's one whole example of a man that I like, N from Pokemon:

Some of my dislike towards Ocarina Of Time (and the Legend Of Zelda series in a more general sense) is totally rooted in jealousy. I feel crazy whenever Ocarina Of Time is discussed to be one of the greatest games of all-time because I can't think of a single thing that I like about it.

#My Hero Ultra Rumble

First thing I'm doing this morning is dumping a bunch of my saved up roll tickets on Mirko in Ultra Rumble. I should have like 1000 after I claim stuff like Ranked rewards, giving me like a 2/3 chance to unlock Mirko immediately if my math is correct.

Edit: I got her 3 times. Trying her out, I'm not a natural with her, she's fun though. She doesn't seem to pump out 1-bajillion damage. Her Special Action seems pretty crazy, it lets her just jump out of hitsun, and the cooldown is only like 6 seconds, it's not guaranteed to get you outta danger though. I was hoping she would have a costume that'd allow me to use Wallrunner + Acceleration, but she doesn't so I'm using Acceleration + Trance Blow.
