A 14 year old girl who has had to see her best friend die over and over again isn’t going to be the most chipper around. At this point in the story, I wouldn’t call her abusive, I would call her broken. I’ve had dreams were someone dead has come back to life, or someone I loved has died in a horrific way, and it messed me up for a couple days. As for her sounding like a robot, once agaon, I’d call that her being broken. Ever play a video game and have to fight the same boss over and over again with a cut scene you can’t skip? It will get to the point you are mocking the cut scene in a monotone voice, or just altogether yelling at it. We’ve seen Homura go from a lonely girl who was almost talked into suicide by a witch to one who made lots of friends that she had to watch die over and over again while she tried to save them the only way she knew how. She tries to warn them, but they dont believe her. So, Madoka, the first one to be kind to her, she latches onto. She learns patterns, collects weapons, and tries to keep her from becoming a magical girl. Hell, she’s willing to take on the big bad all by herself if need be. At 14 years old. I’m surprised she’s not a screaming wreck at this point. Shes determined to fix it all, to save her very best friend. If I had the same powers she did, and my friends were in danger, I’d probably do the same thing. Rebellion is another beast altogether, but i will defend her actions in the series all day long.
