idk how I can impress upon people that there is no one “good and literally nice” roman. all of them were imperialists. I’m not saying we should all burn them at the stake immediately and anything positive you have to say about them is bullshit, I’m just saying that talking about how good a person this or that roman was is a bit wild, and I’ve seen this happen about multiple historical figures. it’s ok, you can be interested in a historical figure without them being a saint. I am very interested in Pompeius, but that man was by no means a saint and at many times he was just downright awful. I also see this about various divine figures in the ancient world, which to me is wilder. there is no need for you to defend some ancient roman or prove that they were morally righteous, much less an ancient divinity.
