Genuinely I'm so sick of the opinion that Ash Ketchum sucks at pokemon. First of all, he's a ten year old, your ass was forgetting about the type chart at ten years old, don't even lie, but second of all, have you SEEN his tournament results? Top 16 in his DEBUT League tournament, Top EIGHT when he came back after putting together a brand new team in Johto. Another top 8 in Hoen, a top FOUR in Sinnoh, another top 8 in Unova, and the silver medal in Kalos. That's to say nothing of him becoming the champion of Alola AND the Orange Islands, PLUS his invitation to and subsequent completion of the Battle Frontier, which earned him the right to settle down and become a Frontier Brain if he so desired. All of this before he wins the world tournament in Galar.

Like if we consider his resume like a fighting game player, he made top 16 at his first major and then proceeded to never miss a top 8 appearance, and he legitimately dominated nonstandard formats. While constantly swapping out pokemon between regions. If your favorite fighting game player kept making top 8s and kept switching characters between tournaments, you'd think they were the greatest of all time. The indigo League had over 200 entrants, and most of them are older than Ash and have been doing it for longer, AND they weren't harassed by the goat of queer villain trios every step of the way!! Boy is a generational talent, and people don't see that because he had to learn the same thing each and every one of you did on the big screen.

I have to be real when I first made this post it was righttt after playing this part in heartgold and ig i wasn’t paying enough attention to why blue was on cinnabar, because the “trying to make sense of the carvings in the rocks” thing was not a metaphor.
