On this day, I woke up before my alarm because these girls and I all made a commitment to take class together led by Tricia at 6am. Our first class all together (surprisingly) and last before Elizabeth leaves to bless the world with her presence and newly found Yoga voice. This is my team. We have grown and challenged each other and most importantly will always support one another. Personally I’m at the best I’ve ever been emotionally, physically and mentally and on the start of my 29th year on this planet, I couldn’t ask for anything more in this moment. I am so grateful for the challenges, successes, and the people in my life supporting me for whom I’d do the same in a heartbeat. (at CorePower Yoga)

This is Bobby. Bobby just finished his year of service as a CA FFA State Officer so I’ve worked with him for almost the entirety of my time at OSU. He’s one of those ones who’s number you either save or recognize because they call you so often and I couldn’t be happier to have helped him through this process. Because of his service, he had the chance at a scholarship that helped him afford OSU, which previously wouldn’t have been an option. So since I was in the area, he showed me the FFA headquarters and I learned so much about what makes these opportunities so incredible for students. I am so incredibly blessed to know students like him and to be able to help them pursue their dreams. I love this job and I am so so lucky. So if Sunday couldn’t get any better, I found out while driving to Galveston for the TACAC Conference I’d been selected for the Rising Star award. My dearest friend Tony Sarda nominated me even though neither of us planned to be there so the surprise was a delight and I am so honored and humbled. Professional development has allowed me to grow and fill a void that keeps me going when the challenges of the day to day are hard to overcome. This organization has done all it can to support me along with these incredible people I’ve been blessed to know. I couldn’t have gotten anything done with MMI without Tony and Jenny and anyone who is willing to give up their time to volunteer and I am forever indebted to them. I grew to care about MMI and TACAC so much and to have people recognize that only motivates me to keep going. This is a great story. So yesterday is my oh I dunno, 8th+ time seeing @shakeygraves, almost 7 years to the day I first saw him. I’m driving back from Dallas and stop at JuiceLand for my lunch break at Sylvan next to other Austin favs Houndstooth and TacoDeli. I think to myself, wouldn’t it be funny if I saw him here. Well sure as could be, not 20 seconds later I see a guy looking scruff walking up the sidewalk, I awkwardly stare and realize holy ish it is Alejandro. I introduced myself, told him I’d seen him first play at F1 Fest, converted @emtmacdonald into a fan, and thanked him for a great show and music (he and Steph did end with a Backstreet Boys cover which was incredible) and wished him well after he so kindly took a pic with me. And that’s what I love about having roots in Austin, the universe, and live music in general. Sometimes you are just in the right place at the right time. Amazing. (at JuiceLand)

There’s something special to be said about spending a whole week with 49 other incredible admissions counselors. You bond in unique ways, you celebrate each other’s awesome 2 minute presentations, you console your colleagues as their homes may be in the path of the fires, and genuinely hope that all the students will come to our amazing institutions.
