Of course we got to go classic with Avani!
Avani was heavily inspired by Captain Amelia from Treasure Planet. Avani’s original name was Avalon (inspired by the song Avalon by Rocky Music) and she was originally a Zygerrian. I didn’t like the canonical connotation behind Zygerrians so I scoured wookiepedia to find a suitable “cat” substitute and stumbles across Cathars!

I remember struggling a lot to land what Avani looked like in my head vs on paper.
And the first drawing of Avani I ever did years ago:
In Avani’s original design she had intricate designs on her ears and face. I ultimately decided to simplify them bc I really didn’t wanna be drawing that detailed. She also had short hair and a crown braid! 
Took me a few years but I’m very happy with where her design is at now <33
I love her in all of her phases and through all of her glowups and changes
