I know that a lot of people maybe might find it boring, but i think plain old studies are important. Nothing fancy, just a pencil sketch. I think it really helps to improve skill long term, even if you dont draw in realism or semi realism. I used to draw a lot from photos of ballet dancers and athletes i liked (from Pinterest or whatever), never really fund it boring, i love anatomy)))

As for coloring and render i don't really know what to say tbh, i started to draw digitally at the end of 2021, before that i just did plain pencil portraits and anatomy in full realism so when i transitioned to digital i never really found it that difficult, if anything i think its kinda easier than pencil :/

So for short: start from realism, go from there. Disclaimer - im obviously not a professional and never been to art school, so i can totally be bullshiting, but thats just what works for me :))
