buzzards circling above

every one of my dreams deferred

and they’ve got my heart as the main course

scavenger, Under An Equinox Sky

claps of thunder in my veins

wondering how people get along

as I sit idle with my pain

I could taste the frost before the storm

hear all the whispers that would follow

an icicle impaled into my heart

reminders of things that left me hollow

there was sunlight in his smile

a sweet invitation in his eyes

the grief I’ve failed to reconcile

running from guilt for quite some time

my brooding was quite messy

though i’m sure you’ve been there, too

a cyclone that keeps accelerating

my pretty disaster with a view

weathering the emotional stormfront, Under An Equinox Sky

broken eyelashes

are no longer sufficient enough

for my dreams to come to

fruition
