Poems About A Boy

No matter how many times I cut my hair,

I still feel you running your fingers through it.

Maybe I’ll cut it shorter or dye it next time.

I will change my perfume 100 times,

but all I can smell is your cologne.

The scent floods my nose, and I beg the memories not to follow suit with my head.

I grew out of the clothes I wore

when you’d kiss me until my breath was gone.

I guess you don’t fit either, but I still lose my breath sometimes.

Sometimes I glance over to the passenger seat

when your favorite songs come on the radio

before I get the chance to remember that you aren’t there.

  Sure, there are new roads to drive on that lead to

new places to go,

new clothes to wear,

and new people to occupy your seat,

but some things will always feel real to me
