“Nice save,” Atem adds right after Seth’s comment. And then he chuckles at the jest. “Accidents happen.”

He picks the spot to his side on the table and moves to place his Dango on the table as he sits down. The former pharaoh reaches into his jacket’s pocket to check his messages. Seems like his friends’ group has been active in the last hour. But he’ll write to them later. He puts the phone back into his pocket.

The dreams he had... that wasn't him, but someone else. So he shouldn't share the emotions of that ancient priest and yet...

"I'm not exactly inspiring confidence considering my line of work. Please don't think I'm utterly incompetent."

"Oh, the last few years or so," Kisara chimed in. "We run a security firm and originally we were based farther up north but there was just more events and such down in Domino that gave us more business."

"And here we are. Why, are you looking to host an event that needs security detail?"

He feels a wave of excitement washing through him. His teachers are too strict to have casual conversations with. He must only focus on the task. This is fair— but this is also teaching him to multi-task, so that’s not bad. Besides, his teachers are also way older than him and he doesn’t hang out with the elders unless he’s called in by his father or it’s necessary. Right now, he feels more at ease. Like he’s around a friend rather than a tutor.

“Heh, you’re right, I guess.” The prince chuckles and watches the other get into position to aim once again. Something motivates him to give his best just by watching Seth’s steady form. He does have a well-skilled opponent before himself. It doesn’t mean he isn’t giving his best in front of his tutors but he hardly gets an adrenaline rush like this. He could be himself and perform all the meanwhile.

He shakes his head. “If it meant helping my mother then I would do it for eternity.” He would do anything for his parents to ease their work if he can. His parents have given him so much that this would be the least thing he could do for them.

His train of thought is disrupted by the sound of the arrow hitting the center. Wow. Atem watches in awe before he smiles.

“Hm,” he hums once it’s his turn and readies his bow and arrow. The prince walks into the spot Seth was in. “One of the things I was taught is to observe others.” Like before, his goal wasn’t the center. But...

He tugs on the string, calculating the difference in force and mass between his and Seth’s arrow. When he is sure his arrow is pointing in the right angle, he takes just one step back. He releases the arrow. This time it doesn’t land beside Seth’s but impales the bulls-eye right against the other’s, meeting it exactly like two intersecting lines.

But of course, what else would one expect from the pharaoh to-be? A diligent hard worker was to be expected.

The Prince's arrow lands true. It appears he's a quick learner as well.

"Many thanks, my prince. Quite the clever trick of yours to use my shot to calculate your own. Since this seems too easy for you, how about I throw you a moving target to aim at, Prince?"

“You expect me to believe you? After all you’ve done?”

“Tell me what’s been going on. I deserve that much from you.”

“Why are you always trying to stick your nose in my business?”

“You can’t keep secrets from everyone and expect them to trust you.”

“Ah, thank you!” Atem dips his head with gratitude as his gaze then shifts to the food. He goes for the Mitarashi Dango, coated with a sweet soy sauce glaze. This reminds him that he and his friends should eat out more often. Although, he’s been seeing them a lot less than he did during high school. Life’s gotten busier. But, right now, he is having fun out with potential new companions.

So distracted in his turmoil of thoughts and conspiracy theories he nearly spills several toppings. Narrowly he avoids making a big mess of the poor local's stand by some quick reflexes to catch the toppled bowls before their contents could fly everywhere.

Great, now he was creating a scene.

"I'm not usually this uncoordinated," he feels the need to explain to Atem for some reason.

Seth convinces himself it's due to his job. He doesn't know how much Kisara has talked to her new friend and told him what they do for a living.

At least, that's what he convinces himself of.

"Don't hurt yourself kid," Kisara teases before grabbing a nearby bench for the tree of them as its previous occupants decide to move on with their day.

"You've made a mistake befriending this one," Seth says to Atem. "This is what I have to deal with on a daily basis."
