okay but i really think that alot of dgs fans tend to gloss over the more covert racism thats in the game. not the right word. but i mean that alot of the discourse i see online is just about like the real in your face kinda stuff (ie: barok, jezaille brett) but very little towards the other characters. like i remember in my playthrough it was 'oh is this sholmes guy. okay weird comment my friend' and this happens with like. pretty much every white character in the game. and actually i think the even like more out there ones, like some of the stuff maria says iirc, gets ignored in discussions abt the racism in the game

And also i think the part that Every white character being a little racist is actually significant in the theme—that putting things on a pedestal leads you to miss out on the other sides. in the beginning of the game you are being lead to think that england is the center of progress and that theres so many things that japan should catch up on. and then when you get there you are instantly being hit by how racist everyone is. and i think thats one of the hints the game gives you that not everything is what you initially see it

being crazy over fictional characters is so funny cuz you'll be fine all day and then you start Thinking and then you can feel yourself transform in real time
