"But i dont hate disabled people"
Making jokes about people who can't eat gluten or have very specific dietary needs is ableist.
Making fun of or video taping "weird" or "cringey" people is ableist.
Not wearing a mask is ableist.
Inappropriately using items or methods that are for disabled people such as handicap elevators or abusing the rules that allow fidget toys until they get taken away is ableist.
Complaining about subtitles on public screens is ableist.
Talking over someone because youre an abled person who can talk faster/clearer than the disabled person is ableist.
Telling someone they cant be both queer/pretty/smart/anything other than a cishet white man whos unattractive because thats what a disabled person looks like is ableist.
But ya'll just call it funny.
"Public policy has not kept up with an explosion of technology which is completely undermining privacy rights in our country. And it's not just the government. It's the corporate world as well. Today, it is likely that someone knows exactly where you are at this moment, and where you drove your car yesterday. Someone has the capability of gaining access to your financial and health records, is aware of the products that you purchase, the websites you visited and the emails you sent. People cannot keep talking about "freedom" without a major effort to protect privacy rights."
- Sen. Bernie Sanders
Can people just stop the whole "if you just did x you wouldn't have this problem" like in general but specifically concerning medical stuff.
Because you likely have no idea what you're talking about so x may not help and could even be harmful. If the person with the condition didn't specifically ask for your advice they don't want it, so shut up. They may have already tried x or there may be a very good reason why they haven't tried x. Sometimes medical stuff doesn't have just one quick easy fix, sometimes it can't be fixed at all, and it can be very upsetting for people to imply all you medical issues could be solved if you just tried harder.
I've heard some of the most ridiculous, ignorant and ablist bullshit ever in this form of unsolicited medical advice and "helpful" suggestions. So please don't be that guy. I know you probably think you're being nice and just trying to help but just don't. If someone asks you for advice then yes you can make suggestions but otherwise just don't.

any person with any mental health issues or chronic pain or a permanent disability can tell you that these conditions are hard to live with but what able bodied and neurotypical people often don't understand is how on a daily basis our ability to manage them also fluctuates because all days are not equally hard to get through and that's why we want flexible accommodations at work or education
Some days are really bad: its hard to get out of bed because you can't manage the pain or your brains just full of fog and you can't even get yourself to concentrate enough to read half a page. Other days are unexpectedly good and you can sit and do 5 hours of work without needing a break, you're clear headed and know exactly what to do. You may even be able to physically exert your body but good days are often followed by bad days and doing too much will cost you the next days energy and later you'll need time to recover
Both days always come out of nowhere and always without notice and making commitments and fully following them through is a gamble. This is not our fault but it is our reality. Not all of us can give a consistent effort despite wanting to.
Having learning be shifted online or being allowed to work from home or getting grocieries delivered or having doctors appointments via video call these have all made life a little less complicated for disabled people and we need to push against the prospect of losing these accommodations.

Reminder: My trauma and feelings are valid.
You are not responsible for how people perceive your abuser. If you tell someone about the abuse, you are not tarnishing your abuser's image. They did that to themselves.
