Any thoughts on how the story of Sonic Heroes could be expanded and improved given how there was more emphasis on gameplay that the plot?
I honestly don’t know, I’m not a huge fan of Heroes and I don’t think it has a particularly great story either. Everything about that game’s story and writing is just slightly off for me, like every character is just a little too energetic. I dunno, that’s just a weird me thing.
But I guess the biggest issue is probably how it handles metal sonic, I feel like they don’t really give him a lot to work with. Heroes never really slows down so there’s never any time dedicated to fleshing out Metal Sonic’s plan or personality. He’s just a very generic villain for me.
It’s weird because the story is simple but it also feels a little messy. Like the theme of friendship and teamwork is obviously present in the gameplay but it doesn’t really play a factor in the story. There’s stuff like Metal copying everyone’s data but being defeated when everyone works together, but that’s about as far as it goes, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it’s not like there’s no theme there, it’s just a very basic one.
I dunno, I’m rambling. I have a weird relationship with Heroes. It’s not a story focused game so I don’t worry too much about it, but I also find it very forgettable.
