    HE TRIED ONLY to think of lily as a roommate, as a person who he shared a living space with and nothing more, but at the sneering grin on her face sanders thought much more of her than that. she was everything that he wasn’t. lily was louder than him and cooler than him and more talented than him and he hated that, but here he was, doing her laundry for her. “ actually, i don’t think there’s enough room, ” sanders heard himself saying, quiet and hesitant despite the sassiness that he wished to display. the boy had to do everything in his power to hold himself back from chewing the girl’s head off. “ so, you can take them back. ” but he was already doing that for her, dropping her dirty clothes on the floor in front of him. 

      SANDERS ALWAYS GOT particularly excited whenever it was his laundry day. it gave him something to do on his day off; cleaning in general had always been quite a stress reliever for the boy. he was going door-to-door from each of his roommate’s bedrooms at that point, asking whether or not they’d had anything that they wanted to throw into the next load. “ —hey, do you have any dirty laundry ? ” sanders didn’t even bother knocking before he was opening the other’s door and poking his head inside.
