Past week was dedicated to articles reading. On Monday I’ll start my university training (how is it called? Traineeship, internship, stage?) in the lab! Currently excited and scared, even anxious (only because I do not want to look ignorant). Can’t wait to begin for real 👩‍🔬 

I just want to understand how my schedule will be in next months, no more classes for me! But still have to study (3 exams to go) 😊

I hope to find balance between thesis, exams and self-care. I refuse to give in training! And I am confident about find space to practice yoga 💪

Thesis: research group and I are starting to proceed systematically (finally!). Synthesis were slowed down, analysis were made and currently I am testing resin loading 💪

I spoke with my supervisors and asked to narrow my lab-time, till now a typical day was 6h! But I need more time to keep up with everything else 😊

Physics II: even if I had decided to take my exam after winter break, my mind keep hoping to get it done before... As a consequence I live in anxiety, constant agitation and I have nightmares 😭

Gluons

In basic physics, we all learn that like charge repel, opposite charges attract. However, we are also told that protons and neutrons form the tightly grouped nucleus. One must ask themselves, shouldn’t these protons repel each other? Thanks to something known as the strong nuclear force, the nuclei don’t break apart - and matter can exist relatively peacefully.The strong nuclear force is the force that binds the nucleus together, as well as the force that binds quarks together to create hadron particles. 

Just like photons are exchange particles for the electromagnetic force, all forces have some sort of particle to channel it - known as gauge bosons. Gluons are the particles that act as gauge bosons for the strong nuclear force. Thus, in the most simple terms - Gluons are the particles that hold all of matter together, and make existence possible. Since gluons are gauge bosons, they are massless and carry no electric charge.
