Just wanted to share one of my Killofia stories Iāve made in hopes people understand where Iām coming from with this ship! Thought Iād start with the their first time meeting!
Sofia - Beginning of Season 1, Age 8
Killua - Pre Series, Age 10
The sun dipped low over the skies of Enchancia, turning the waters gold and the marble paths warm with light. Sofia sat on the edge of their long stone bridge, her feet dangling. She was grasping her new amulet, which shimmered softly in the evening glow.
āI just wish people didnāt expect so much all the time,ā she sighed. āIām trying my best.ā
āTrying your best at what?ā
Sofia jumped and turned around. A boy about her age stood a few steps away. He had spiky silver hair, pale skin, and bright blue eyes. His hands were in his pockets, and he looked both bored and curious at the same time. āOh! You startled me,ā Sofia said, catching her breath as her smile returned. āI didnāt hear you coming.ā
āMost people donāt,ā the boy replied with a shrug. āNameās Killua.ā
āIām Princess Sofia,ā she said politely. āItās nice to meet you.ā
Killua raised an eyebrow. āPrincess, huh? Figures. You must live in this castle.ā
Sofia glanced up at the Enchancian palace. āYep. Well, I do NOW.ā
Killua casually sat next to her on the bridge. āSo what were you talking about? The expectations thing?ā
Sofia began to sigh. āEver since my mom married the king, Iāve had to learn how to be a proper princess. Etiquette, dancing, lessons, parties⦠and everyone expects me to be perfect.ā
Killua gave a small chuckle. āPerfect. Yeah, I know that one,ā he replied.
Sofia tilted her head. āYou do?ā
āMy family expects me to be the greatest assassin in the world,ā he answered. āLike itās just⦠decided already.ā
Sofiaās eyes widened. āAssassin?!ā
Killua waved a hand. āYeah, yeah. Sounds worse than it feels. But still⦠I donāt want to live my life just doing what they tell me. I want to choose my own path.ā
Sofia smiled softly as she replied, āMe too. I mean, I like being a princess. I like helping people and making friends. But sometimes⦠it feels like Iām not allowed to make mistakes or do things I enjoy.ā
Killua leaned back on his hands. āIn my house, mistakes usually mean punishment. Big ones.ā
Sofiaās expression fell. āThat sounds awful.ā
He shrugged again, but his voice softened. āYou get used to it.ā
For a moment, they sat in silence, listening to the gentle splash of the water below. Sofiaās gentle smile returned as she broke the silence asking, āSo what do you want to be?ā
Killua blinked. āHuh?ā
āIf you could choose anything,ā she said, āwhat would you want to be instead of an assassin?ā
Killua thought for a moment. āI dunno. I just want to travel. Make friends. Eat good food. Do whatever I feel like doing that day.ā
Sofia giggled. āThat sounds nice.ā
āWhat about you?ā he questioned. āIf you didnāt have to be a princess?ā
She looked down at her amulet. āI think⦠Iād still want to help people, and have fun. Do things I love, like riding flying horses or spending time with my village friends. But my family says princesses arenāt allowed to do those things!ā
Killua smirked. āYouāre weird for a princess.ā
Sofia giggled before replying, āYouāre pretty nice for an assassin.ā
He rolled his eyes, holding back a smirk as he stated, āDonāt let that get around.ā
Suddenly, a faint growl was heard nearby. A small, snarling creature with glowing eyes popped out, claws raised. Sofia gasped, āWhat is THAT!?ā
Before she could move, Killua was already in front of her. His eyes sharpened. āStay back,ā he muttered. In a blur, he struck the creature with a quick, precise movement. It yelped and scampered away back down the bridge.
Sofia dropped her jaw and grew a large grin telling him, āThat was amazing! You moved so fast!ā
Killua shrugged. āJust reflexes,ā he told her as he sat back down.
She smiled brightly. āYou may not want to be an assassin, but your skills can still help people. Like just nowāyou protected me.ā
He blinked, clearly not expecting that response. Killua began to ponder as he responded, āYeah⦠I guess.ā
āAnd maybe one dayā¦ā Sofia continued, āYouāll use those skills for something you choose. Not just what your family expects.ā
Killua looked at her for a long moment. Then a small, genuine smile appeared. āYouāre not like other princesses Iāve met.ā
Sofia tilted her head. āYouāve met other princesses?ā
āNoā¦,ā he admitted. āBut Iām pretty sure theyāre not like you.ā
Sofia gave a small laugh as she replied, āThanks. I think.ā
Killua stood up and stretched. āWell, I should probably get going before my family thinks Iām slacking off.ā
Sofia stood as well adding, āIām glad we met, Killua.ā
Killuaās eyes widened, heād never heard anything like that. āYeah⦠Same,ā he replied, almost speechless. He started to walk away, then paused. āHey, Princess.ā
āDonāt worry so much about being perfect. People who expect that are usually the worst anyway.ā
Sofia smiled warmly. āAnd you donāt have to be the perfect assassin,ā she confirmed.
Killuaās smirk returned as he replied, āGood. Because Iām not planning on it.ā With that, he waved and disappeared down the path.
Sofia grasped her amulet as she watched him walk away. āMaybe being different isnāt such a bad thing after all,ā she said softly.
