Canna-newb hits the blogs (you thought I was gonna say bong, didnāt you?)
Hi, my name is Manda, and Iām the new āCreative Consultantā for Pineapple Express Meds. Nice to e-meet you fellow tumblrs. (I totally made up that title for myself, but thatās beside the point).
I decided to start blogging once I realized how awesome and vast Cannabis Culture is right now, just a month before we all feel the wave of new legislation falling into place in Canada. Technically, weāve all been feeling it. Even if you donāt embrace canna-culture, youāve talked about it, heard about it, seen it in the news or in movies or at the very least, smelled it. As Iām slowly discovering, there are 2 poles to the community. Those who embrace it like the art-form that it is and those who are completely oblivious/donāt care/donāt want to know.
A little background on where I stand: Iāve seen cannabis since around middle school. It always seemed like it was so easy to get. Never giving in to peer pressure, I got through my whole middle and high school life without trying it. Then, near the end of college I figured, I would give cannabis the old ācollege tryā. Then about a year later, I realized I wasnāt actually inhaling, so I never actually tried it till a bit after that, when people told meĀ āIām doing it wrong!ā Still, I was always surrounded by it, but never cared for it like most of my schoolmates and friends did.
My ācanna-knowledgeā was basic. Cannabis was so easy to get; just give the local weed dealer a call or text and you can have it delivered to you. You just tell him (or her) how much you want to spend and there it is. The charge for pre-rolled was a little extra, but sometimes worth it. There was no menu to choose from, no favourite strain that you could request. You got what you got. If you didnāt like it, you texted a different dealer. Since I didnāt get into the culture, my knowledge base never changed. Until recently, when a friend took me to a nearby dispensary. There was cannabis by the pound in display cases. They had different names, prices, appearances and smells. There was a vending machine with candy in it, and innocent me took a minute or two to realize they were actually āEdiblesā, or cannabis-infused delights. I saw candy, popcorn, cupcakes, brownies, you name it. Me with my sweet tooth, was in heaven. But the other side of me, the non-cannabis smoker was confused and overwhelmed. Prior to that I had only tried cannabis-gummies at a party. It made me kind of giddy to see how much options all these cannabis fans had. I didnāt even know where to start so I just browsed and left. I didnāt want to embarrass myself by asking silly questions so I just didnāt bother. Technically, I still have a lot of those questions, but lucky for me, the good folks at PEM have been a huge help, plus I have to shout out Google Search!
Iām slowly going to blog about my recent discoveries, my thoughts and feelings about cannabis, the culture itself, and much more. Stay tuned if youāre a fellow Cannabis newb. Letās hold each otherās hands as we dive right into this culture. And for all you pros out there, please feel free to guide me through this brand new world; free lessons and samples much appreciated!
