Was fun to participate! Used this as a writing exercise.
Continuing to work on chapter 2 for my Newtmas fanfic "A Town Called Glade" today. I'm slow as hell when it comes to writing, so I won't promise a release date.
It's so hard trying to decide whether to pre-write the entire fic and then post it, or write and post as I go and fix the plot holes later 😮💨
cuties
turns out i like drawing deer (and i hate drawing landscapes)
Some day I’ll get this good…hopefully🤞

🕷️🦇Newtmas Fanfic Snippet: "A Town Called Glade" 🦇🕷️
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Hi all! This is a snippet of my Newtmas fanfic over on AO3. The first chapter is already out, and I'm currently working on the second one. I just thought I'd share a little snippet and the cover I made for it :)
If you click on the cover, it should link to Wattpad as well, if you prefer to read it there.
(Cover made in Canva.)
Summary:
When sixteen-year-old Thomas moves with his mother to the gloomy town of Glade, nothing feels right. The sun never shines, the locals stare too long, and the kids call newcomers "greenies".
As Thomas tries to settle in, he becomes tangled in the town's unspoken fears, its abandoned places, and the strange behaviors of the people who seem to know more than they'll say-including the mayor, who always seems to be watching.
With the town's one rule hanging over his head-never go into the woods after dark-Thomas and a group of local kids set out to uncover the town's overflowing secrets.
Pairing:
Thomas/Newt (Maze Runner)
Chapter 1 (Snippet):
The town of Glade was one big mass of gloom.
Thomas stared out of the window as his mother drove through town square. The shops went by one by one: first an ice cream parlor, then a hardware store, then a general store, and the small shops kept going. The color of everything seemed dulled, like the entire town had a gray wash over it. It was almost like one of those places that would be in a movie; a town stuck in time, like they’d made it to the sixties and then never moved on.
The streets were almost empty, only a few people meandering about. They stopped and stared as the car drove by, as if they were seeing something they hadn’t in a while. People from inside the shops came to the windows and stared out of them. Thomas caught the eye of a white-haired lady, making him tear his gaze away and look forward at the road instead.
“This is a nice little town,” his mom commented lightheartedly. “It’s got almost everything, huh?”
“Yeah, seems like it,” Thomas said. A small group of boys came out of one of the shops, catching his eye. They talked amongst each other until they saw the car driving past them. They smiled and pointed at the car, saying something that was muffled by the glass between them. He could barely make out the word ‘greenie’.
What the hell did that mean?
Just as they were about to pass the group completely, another boy stepped out of the shop behind them. The boy immediately caught Thomas’s attention. His blonde hair stood out against the gray like a sunflower in a dark forest. The boy looked around at what the others were pointing at, his face scrunched in confusion. His gaze fell on Thomas, and they locked eyes. The other kids around him were still yelling, ‘Greenie! Greenie!’ at the car, and the boy smiled like he’d finally caught on to what was happening.
Cute, Thomas’s brain said automatically when he saw the smile. Thomas scrunched his brows, shaking the thought away. What the hell was that for?
He wanted to turn front again and look away, but it was difficult, like something was forcing him to keep the boy’s gaze.
Even as they drove further and further, he craned his neck until the boy finally fell out of sight.
Omg will definitely be reading this!! Seems super interesting >33
Thanks!! I'll be keeping people updated whenever I can 🫡
Official Cover Art For:
🍎🦋"Magic Bloomed in Spring" 🍎🦋
Hey guys! I finally got done with the official cover art for my Misaki Yata-centric fic "Magic Bloomed in Spring"! The fic has already debuted, but here's the official cover art!
I'll link the fic along with it.
I just went for a spellbook just because it's a magic/spellcaster AU. Took a long time to make in Photoshop, and I had to start over because my sister told me it was shit :) So here's the updated version.
Tell me, do you think it's shit?

Art for New Fic:
🍎🦋"Magic Bloomed in Spring"🍎🦋
Well, this was supposed to be the cover for my new Yata Misaki fic, but I just couldn't make it work. It's not very good, but it charms me, and I think that makes it worth sharing 🙂
My fic debuted with its prologue chapter yesterday... Or was it today? Idk, but it's out now.
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
I think I'll find a way to include it in the actual cover.
It definitely needed to be on a bigger canvas. I think that's why it came out so pixelly; the canvas was too small. That's definitely something to keep in mind for next time.
I think I want to start learning art because, while making this was frustrating, it was pretty fun, too. I have so many things that I want to make, so I think it would be worth my time to just start learning.
Gonna be working on a cover for my Yata-centric spellcaster AU. I’m hoping to get it done today or tomorrow so I can post the first chapter already 😪

🍎🦋Sneak Peek of "Magic Bloomed in Spring"🍎🦋
Here's a sneak peek of a new fic I'll be releasing soon.
Summary:
When spring arrives in the magical town of Shizume, seventeen-year-old Yata Misaki expects nothing more than the usual errands and small magic lessons that normally fill his days. But everything changes the moment he sees newcomer Katsuto Endo riding down the hill behind the Homra tavern, stopping beneath an apple tree on his way.
Curiosity turns into a secret ritual, and Yata, drawn to the stranger, begins to leave small offerings of red apples along the trail, hoping to be noticed. In his efforts, he begins to neglect his practice. The lack of focus makes his magic unsteady, so he eventually decides to take action, drinking something meant to turn a glance into something more.
Pairing:
Original Male Character/Yata Misaki
Prologue (Sneak Peek):
Yata wrung the rag out, watching as the water dripped back into the bucket with small splashes. The cloth made a prominent splat sound as he pushed it onto the table and began wiping it down like he’d done a hundred times before. He pressed down harder on a spot of spilled ale that just refused to be cleaned easily.
It was only a few hours until dark when the tavern would be at its peak, filled with people from daily drunkards to high scholars. It filled him with pride, being associated with the best tavern in town.
He just wished the guests wouldn’t be so disgusting. The cloth folded under itself, causing his hand to make direct contact with a sticky patch of something on the wooden surface.
He pulled his hand back quickly.
“Ugh!” He threw the rag onto the table with a loud splat.
“Yata.” Yata turned around, met with Kusunagi’s twitching eye from where he cleaned the drinkware behind the counter. “Why do you feel the need to abuse my furniture?”
“Sorry, Kusunagi-san,” Yata said through gritted teeth, glaring down at the spot on the table. “Y’know, why can’t we just use magic to do all this stuff?”
Izumo sucked on his teeth, like he’d been asked that a hundred times over.
“Using magic is the easy way out. Just because you have it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t learn to do things on your own,” he said, giving Yata a pointed look over his spectacles. He then picked up a brass pint, looking it over carefully. “Besides, don’t you think everything in the tavern deserves the gentle caress of a caring hand?”
Kusunagi smoothly ran his fingers over the cup one by one. Yata raised an eyebrow, slightly weirded out.
“Sure,” he said.
Footsteps came down the stairs from the second floor.
“Well, it’s official. Anna’s got a cold.” Totsuka emerged from the stairs carrying a tray. “Couldn’t even eat her porridge. No appetite.”
“Poor thing,” Izumo said. Totsuka hummed in agreement as he set the tray down on the counter beside Izumo. His eyes scanned the empty tavern, going across the tables and chairs until they landed on Yata. Totsuka smiled.
“Yata-chan,” he started, “Do you mind running an errand real quick?”
Yata perked up eagerly, already starting to take off the apron around his waist.
“Sure, but I’ve got a few more tables to clean.”
Totsuka waved his hand dismissively. “Eh, there’s plenty of time for that; this won’t take too long. Besides, that’s what magic’s for.”
Totsuka purposefully ignored Kusanagi’s glare, coming around the counter and going over to where Yata stood.
“Arms up,” he said. Yata hesitated and then obeyed, raising his arms above his head.
Totsuka snapped, clean and clear, making Yata jump a bit in surprise. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw something fly across the room, coming toward him. Everything happened in a flurry. Something pulled itself over his head, tying around his body securely, while another wrapped itself loosely around his neck.
He could hear Totsuka talking as the fabric moved around him.
“Anna’s got a slight fever that we need to bring down, but we don’t have any more health potions,” he said. “I just need you to go and pick one up at the apothecary shop. Not the big shop in town square, but the smaller one on the edge of town.”
When Yata’s vision was free of fabric, he looked down, seeing himself clothed in his mantle and scarf.
Totsuka held Yata's satchel in one hand and something else in the other, showing them as he continued.
“I put three coins in here.” He lifted up a small purse. “But when you get the potion, I want you to put it in this to preserve it. It doesn’t really need it, but just in case.”
“Okay,” Yata said, trying to keep up with the information.
Totsuka put the purse in Yata’s satchel, and then reached out and put the bag over Yata’s torso. Totsuka looked him over once more, stopping and looking at him like something was strange. His eyes widened when he figured it out, turning back to the coat hook near the entrance where Yata’s cap still sat.
Totsuka gave it a stern look, bringing his fingers up to his mouth and whistling. Like it was startled, the hat shifted in the air before zooming across the room, right into Totsuka’s awaiting hands.
Totsuka smiled again and stepped forward, placing the cap on Yata’s head.
“There,” he said. “That should keep you nice and warm on your way.”
Yata nodded quickly. He could see Kusunagi shaking his head from behind the counter, probably feeling some type of way about Totsuka’s excessive use of magic.
Totsuka didn’t seem to notice, and if he did, he didn’t seem to care. He threw his arm around Yata’s shoulders and led him toward the door.
“Yata-chan,” he started, “when you get there, see if you can talk to Shiro. Mention my name, and maybe he’ll give you a discount. Alright?”
“Yeah, I got it.” He frowned, annoyance building with how many instructions there were. How hard could it be? It’s not like he’s a little kid going to get the eggs of a snapping Jellyfrog. He’s only going to get a healing potion.
“Alright then. Thanks, Yata-chan,” Totsuka said, opening the door for Yata to walk through.
A chilly gust of Autumn wind came through, and he immediately shivered as he stepped out into it.
