!!!

christopher mckenney is a horror composite artist, i’ve been looking through their work and picked out two of my favorites from them, these are the kind of horror and surreal imagery i want to strive for and possibly recreate, at the moment i am in Georgia with access to a forest, and perhaps i will go exploring later and see what i could find out there to use in a composite that’ll be similar to these.

an artist i recently found was kyle thompson , though the internet classifies him as a horror photographer, i would say he’s a mix of horror and abstract, his photos really seem interesting to me, i love how he colors his works and gives a story in every one of them, his photos could be found here

quarantine 2020 week 5: i found some of my unused photos from before lock down, though most of these are new and just in my neighborhood. i can’t really risk going out too much, but i’m happy with these photos. 

although not a photographer, i wanted to highlight someone i’ve been following for a while, trevor henderson ( creator of sirenhead ) uses a really unique art style in which he combines photos and his artwork to implement monsters into the scenery, he’s a horror artist found here and here !  i’ve been a really big fan of his content, and sirenhead as become one of my favorites he has created! 

I’ve been looking at horror lately, i love horror, it’s one of my favorite types of movies, video games, and artwork, so when i came across a photographer named Joshua Hoffine i was ecstatic to see such well composed horror photography! his pictures don’t rely on the darkness and empty void that horror tends to fall in, instead it shows every detail, everything that’s around. his photos could be found here!!

artists that influence or inspire me part 1: i don’t really look at other’s art for inspiration, though Susan Rankaitis’ paintings and photography really caught my eye, she an abstract artist whose work can be found here! i find a lot of her artwork close to what i want to do with my picture, close up photos that seem strange in a way-she does photography and paintings and i enjoy both her mediums of artwork. 

week 4 of the coronavirus diary, i thought most of these were interesting, i was really just playing around with light and color, trying to find a good balance between them and trying different techniques to get an effect i wanted, though there really wasn’t much around to photograph, i still got some interesting shots. 

week 3 of the coronavirus diary, these were taken the first week we were sent home and i went out at night, something i do often when i get bored or anxious, and i was really anxious when this all happened, I have RA and my immune system doesn’t function right, so I could be considered immunocompromised, which is a scary thought seeing as immunocompromised people are more at risk. 

week 2 of my quarantine diary for class, i didn’t do much and honestly i don’t know what i should be doing for class here’s a collection of photos i took before the outbreak, next post will be photos during the outbeak. though i’m going to be honest i don’t know what to take a photo of when all i see is my house all day.

Covid-19 is pretty scary- before the virus got to my county i was able to snag some photos of my town. though now i’m pretty much stuck at home as i’m immunocompromised. hopefully things get better as i’ve been trying to stay safe.  this week we’ve just been driving around getting food and drinks though. i rarely go out now and am mostly just stuck at home. 

2nd part of my project, i really want to wish everyone a happy quarantine, which is something i never thought i’d say, i also wanna say that i’m glad there’s already clinical trials of a medication being tested, though this is causing some problems for people who rely on those medications, specifically people with lupus, as that medicine helps reduce flairups.  there’s no need to panic buy, and hopefully we’ll all be okay soon. please take care of yourselves. hope to see you all next semester. 

i didn’t really know how i would upload these. but these are the first 10 pages of my zine for the elements and principles of design project. there’s way too much writing to be typed out in a short description, i hope everyone is staying safe.
