Blackout poetry exists on a dual axis from "banal" to "insightful" on the input side and "kind of deep" to "incredibly fucking dumb" on the output side, and while taking something banal and producing something kind of deep is well and fine, for my money taking something insightful and rendering it incredibly fucking dumb is where the real art is.

i get why people don't believe in marriage as a social construct but legally it is the best and easiest way to say "this is who i trust to take care of me when i can't take care of myself" and i'm so glad gay people fought for that right bc when shit gets scary at least i know im in good hands

For those who don't know, during the AIDS crisis, committed partners could not be with their loved ones in their final days because only "family" were allowed...and a lot of bio family had long-ago abandoned their AIDS-inflicted sons, so they had to die alone instead of surrounded by those who loved them. So gay marriage was vital to allow hospital visitations, etc.

the most important thing to me ever is bi kids knowing that it’s ok to be 10% attracted to women and 90% attracted to men or 10% attracted to men and 90% attracted to women and still feeling ok to identify as bi, and still feeling like their identity is valid, and still feeling like they can lead fulfilling lives with both (or other) genders. like that’s just so fricking important.

I’m a bi adult and you know what? I needed this. Thank you.

it’s also important to remember that it can be a fluid % like sometimes it’ll be 50/50 some times 10/90 and then drift into a 45/65 or even 2/98 and it’s still okay. It’s just where you are at that time in your life. 

That shift is called the bicycle

It’s also important for them to know that bisexuality is not binary & never has been. You can be attracted to any gender, & still be bisexual. You can be attracted to someone regardless of their gender & still be bisexual. Oh & being bisexual isn’t about who you date. It’s about who/what you’re attracted to.
