Incredible chalk paint bombs photographed by the feminist icon Judy Chicago. Moving forward with my practise I would love to use photography and huge clouds of paint in a photo series of the wearable sculpture of this character I have developed in my figurative paintings.

Incredible costume pieces by the artist Wang Cheng. This is something that I would absolutely LOVE to do when moving forward with the development of my studio practise. I tried to make a costume but to make something of this scale would be a dream for my art practise.
Misaki Kawai is a contemporary Japanese Fine Artist who is currently becoming quite popular in the United States. When she grew up her mother made clothes and puppets and her father was an architect and her work seems to reflect her childhood and her parents in this way. Kawai is most known for making installations out of craft like materials such as felt, paper mâché, wood and yarn.
I love how bright and expressive Misaki Kawai’s work is and moving forward with the development of my own work would love to start creating some large scale, sculptural works.

Famously fond of the fluffy, poofy and wobbly, the LA-based artist delights once more with a new show currently on until 14 February at New York’s The Hole.
Anna Beil is a fine artist and illustrator who creates amazing cartoonish drawings using a variety of mediums including anything from digital drawing to a felt tip pen. The illustrator lives and works in Berlin.
Her main sources of inspiration are the day to day friends and media she is surrounded by and this is something that I relate to in my own studio practise as it’s developed.
Gabriella Sanchez is a contemporary artist who mixes fine art with graphic design. Her use of text and scratchy graffiti style images mixed with something that is softly feminine creates these incredible pieces of art.
Sanchez has inspired me in my development of this studio practise module and I am interested in experimenting with graphic design in my developing work.

Hattie Malcomson is a Fine Artist freshly graduated from Brighton University and awarded her own studio space. Her deeply layered abstract paintings are incredible and will no doubt inspire my future practise in this module.

Alex Hudson is a practising fine artist who grew up in the 80s in Great Britain but now lives and works from his home in Sweden. His paintings reference traditional English literature and Northern European folklore and his paintings as a result are dark and whimsical.
I love his use of the colour pink and the abstracted nature of his paintings. When developing my own studio practise I researched into Alex Hudson and borrowed from his style of painting in my own work.

Not stylistically similar to my work but John Akomfrah is a photographer that I researched into during my development for this studio practise module. His work directly responds to the events of 2020, a year that will go down in history. As my work for this module has been responding to 2020 in a more directly personal way it was interesting to see another creative responding to the worldwide events of last year.

Anya Benaroya
Anya Benaroya is an American contemporary fine artist who lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. She got her degree at the Maryland Institute of Art and a Masters degree in art at Yale University.
The use of grossly over exagerrated limbs and deeply saturated colours create these weird and wonderful paintings. The exaggerated human form that she uses has inspired my development of this Studio Culture module.
