***Authorâs Note*** So sorry itâs taken me so long to get this up. To make it up to you, itâs a little longer than normal. Thereâs only going to be a few more chapters left in this story. Then Iâm going to do like a five part series to finish it up. I hope to have it all finished by this spring, but my inspiration has been non existent for this story. Hope you enjoy it! Let me know what you think!
The time had come to celebrate the Queenâs Diamond Jubilee, and the entire country had taken advantage of it. Everyone was throwing parties. You could hardly go anywhere without seeing a hundred Union Jacks flying.
Abbey was excited she could experience the excitement first hand. It was history in the making. Not to mention, there was a very good chance that the Queen was eventually going to be family someday.

Today was the first day of the official festivities. The Epsom Derby was the first on the list. Harry wasnât going to be able to attend because he had his military training, but Beckett had invited her to be his date for the day.
At first, she wasnât sure if it would be a good idea to go with Beckett since there was going to be so many cameras there, but she decided she wasnât going to let them stop her from doing the things she wanted to.
Abbey knew that she was going to have fun. She was going to be with some of her closest friends after all, but she never thought it would be as much fun as it was. Between Beckett making it his mission to make her laugh harder than ever before and her horse winning, it had been a very good day.
âYou know what?â Abbey said to Beckett. The races had ended. They had decided to wait a while before leaving, hopefully waiting out most of the press. So now they sat in Beckettâs familyâs private box, drinking cocktails and people watching.
âWhat?â Beckett asked.
âIâm almost happy that I came here with you,â she said. âI mean, if Harry had been able to go and I couldâve gone with him, it wouldâve been so stiff, and I donât think Iâm ready to meet the Queen. Does that make me a bad person?â
âNah, it makes you human,â he said, reclining further back into his seat. âPlus, I know Iâm more fun than Harry.â
She laughed. âToday you have been.â She looked at the glass in her hands and sighed. âThank you for today. I needed to forget that Iâm dating royalty for a day.â
âYou and Harry are doing alright though?â he asked.
âOh yeah, weâre doing good,â she said smiling. Harry had been amazing lately. Heâd been so patient with her because of how stressed sheâd been lately. âItâs just having to deal with all the lawyers with this Courtney shit, and then the usual Navy bullshit. Itâs exhausting.â
âHowâs the Courtney situation going?â
âFrom what the lawyers keep telling me, it should be finished soon,â Abbey explained. She shook her head. It felt like they had been telling her it would be finished soon since it started. âTheyâve offered her a deal. Now weâre just waiting to see if she takes it.â
A big smile spread across Beckettâs face. âHow big is your settlement?â he asked even though he had a feeling what her answer would be.
âI would probably never have to work again,â she said sheepishly.
âAt least they wonât be able to say that youâre with Harry just for his money.â
âThank god,â she said, rolling her eyes. âNow I just need find some way to become British and Iâll be exactly what the papers want.â
âGood luck with that,â Beckett grinned. He took a sip of his drink. âDo you know if there is anything going on with Amanda and Eddie?â he asked suddenly.
She looked over at Beckett and raised an eyebrow. âWhat do you mean?â she asked. Eddie and Amanda had somehow still kept their romance a secret for the most part.
âDonât you think theyâre been acting a bit strange?â he asked.
She couldnât stop the giggle that bubbled from her lips. âStrange how?â
âI donât know,â he shrugged. âTheyâre always disappearing together. Never telling anyone where they go.â
âOh Beckett, sweet oblivious, Beckett,â she laughed. âThink about what youâre saying. Youâll realize why theyâre acting weird.â
He got a confused look on his face. âWhat are you talking aboutâŚâ He looked at her with wide eyes. âOh my god, theyâre dating!â
âGood job,â she laughed. âYouâre only about six months late to the party.â
âSix months? Does everyone else know?â
âIâm pretty sure everyone knows. They just pretend to not know,â Abbey explained.
âAm I that blind?â
âNo,â she smiled. âYouâre usually just occupied with other things.â
âOccupied with what?â
âWomen. Booze. Your normal things,â she teased.
âGod, Iâm a terrible friend,â he groaned.
âNah, youâre a great friend when you need to be.â She pointed at him. âYou have been a great friend to me, and Iâm sure I wouldnât have stuck around if it wasnât for you.â
âAll I did was talk some sense into you,â he said, shrugging his shoulders.
âExactly. You took the time to talk sense into my sorry ass,â she grinned at him. âNot to mention, not very many guys would take their best friendâs girlfriend to the races.â
âTrue,â he grinned. âI guess Iâm a good friend.â
âRoyal sightings have not been in short supply this week as the celebration continues for the Queenâs Diamond Jubilee. Her majesty made her first appearance at the Epsom Derby today. She arrived with the Duke of Edinburgh along with her two youngest sons, the Duke of York and the Earl of Wessex, and granddaughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.
âThe Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry were sadly not in attendance. However, Prince Harryâs girlfriend, Abbey Price, was spotted in one of the private boxes. It is in question if our favorite prince and American is still together as she was seen flirting with one of Londonâs elite and Prince Harryâs best friend.
âEyewitnesses told us that the American pilot was Beckett Harlandâs date for the derby. The two arrived together and spent the whole day together. They were all smiles the entire day.
âPerhaps, Price has gotten tired of her life in the spotlight and has decided to go after Prince Harryâs best friend. Either way, sounds like thereâs trouble in paradise for the young couple.â
Abbey finished reading the article out loud and laughed. âI told you it was a bad idea for me to go with Beckett today,â she said to Harry.
Harry had gotten home from his military training a little after Abbey had gotten home from the derby. Now they sat together cuddled on the couch in the living room at Harryâs apartment.
âYou had fun though, right?â he asked, looking up from the notes in his hands.
âYeah, it was a blast,â she said.
âThen it shouldnât matter what they write.â He went back to looking over the notes for this weekend his private secretary had dropped off earlier.
âReally? You donât care that half the country thinks Iâm leaving you for Beckett?â she asked, grinning.
A muscle in his jaw twitched. âNo, because  I know that would never happen,â he said without looking up.
âMhmm,â she smirked. She didnât believe him; she knew that it bothered him more than he let on. âYou have that river pageant thing tomorrow, right?â
âYes.â He glanced up at her. âWhat you thinking?â
âI was thinking that I could try to drag Charlie with me into the crowds. Be the American tourist I was born to be.â
That got his attention. He set all the papers aside and sat up straighter. âAre you sure thatâs a good idea? With that many people someone is bound to recognize you. You could get hurt.â
âPeople arenât the problem, Harry,â she sighed. âItâs the press. And I can handle anything that happens.â
âI donât like you going alone.â
âI wonât be alone; Charlie will be with me,â she said, crossing her arms. âYou canât stop me from going.â
He let out a sigh and rubbed the back of his neck. âI know I canât. I just want you to be safe. I donât want anything to happen to you because of who I am.â
âThat ship has sailed. Shitâs going to happen to me whether Iâm with you or not,â she said, pursing her lips. âLook, how many times are we going to talk about this?â
âI know I sound like a broken record. I just want to make sure youâre safe.â
âI get that.â She scooted closer and held his hands. âJust as you donât want anything to happen to me, I donât want anything to happen to you. But we canât control fate, and it doesnât help to worry about what could happen. It just makes you focus only on the negative.â
âYouâre right, but it doesnât stop me from worrying.â
âCome on, babe. Iâve had more military training than you. I should be more worried about you getting hurt,â she teased.
âI canât believe I let you talk me into this,â Charlie groaned as he followed Abbey as she weaved her way through the crowd. They finally came to the railing along the Thames River. âYou know how much I hate crowds.â
âYes, I think I gathered that much from the other hundred times youâve told me since we left the flat,â she said, rolling her eyes.
âI just donât understand why we had to come out here with a million other people to see someone you wake up next to every morning,â he sighed as he leaned against the rail.
âWho said I was here for Harry?â she grinned. She pulled a small Union Jack flag out of her bag. âIâm here for the Queen, bitch.â
They stayed there until they watched the boat with the royals and a bunch of other boats went by. Abbey could have stayed there all day, but she knew that she was already putting her friendship with Charlie on the line just by dragging him out there.
The crowd had started to disperse a little; so it would be easier to walk through. Abbey decided that it was probably time to leave. She looked up to Charlie and nodded. He took ahold of her hand so he wouldnât lose her and followed her through all the people.
Suddenly, Abbey felt two little arms wrap around her leg. She looked down to see a little girl that was about five years old staring up at her with tears running down her face.
Abbey knelt down. âHello there,â she said softly. The little girlâs eyes were the size of saucers. âAre you lost, sweetie?â The little girl slowly nodded her head.
âIâll go find a police officer,â Charlie said. Abbey nodded in understanding before Charlie disappeared into the crowd.
She looked back to the little girl in front of her. âHow about we go over to that bench so your mommy or daddy can see you better?â The little girl took her hand without question. Abbey went to the bench and helped the young girl onto the bench. âWhatâs your name, sweetie?â
âEmma,â she said quietly.
âThatâs a very pretty name. My name is Abbey,â she smiled. âHow old are you, Miss Emma?â
âIâmâŚâ She held up five fingers.
âI have a niece your age,â Abbey smiled.âWere you with your parents?â
Emma nodded tearfully. âWe came to watch the Queen.â
âMe too. Her dress was very pretty, donât you think?â
âYes, but Prince Harry is my favorite,â she said matter of factly.
Abbey laughed at the seriousness in her voice. âCan you keep a secret?â Emma nodded. âHeâs my favorite too.â
âAbbey.â She heard Charlie say from behind her. She stood up to see him standing with an officer. âThis is Constable Grimes.â
âHer name is Emma. Sheâs five years old, and she was with both of her parents,â Abbey explained. âThey must have gotten separated in the crowd. Weâre lieutenants in the U.S. Navy, training with the Royal Air Force.â
âYes, maâam. I know who you are,â Constable Grimes said. For once Abbey was thankful to have her face plastered everywhere. âStay with her until I can get another officer here.â He walked away and started talking into his radio.
âShe remind you of Lily too?â Charlie whispered in her ear.
âYeah,â Abbey smiled. âItâs those big blue eyes that get you.â
âMiss Abbey?â
Abbey knelt down in front of Emma. âYes, Miss Emma?â
âDo you have any snacks?â
Abbey chuckled. âAs a matter of fact, I think I might have some crisps in my bag.â She began to look through her bag. âMy friend here, Charlie, always seems to get hungry. Ah, here we go.â She pulled a bag out and gave them to Emma.
Emma eyed Charlie for a moment. âAre you Miss Abbeyâs boyfriend?â
Abbey looked up at Charlie with a smirk on her lips. âNo,â Charlie smiled. âSheâs my best friend though.â
Emma shook her head. âMy mummy always says that girls and boys canât be just friends. That somebody always gets hurt.â
Abbey laughed at the face Emma made as she repeated her motherâs words. âThatâs often true, but Charlie and I are very special.â
Emma thought it over for a moment before going back to eating her crisps.
âLieutenants,â Constable Grimes said to get their attention. âI think we found her parents. An officer is escorting them here.â
âMiss Abbey,â Emma said, tugging on her sleeve. âDid you find my mummy?â
âI think so.â
âDo you have any more snacks?â
âYou cleaned me out, sweetie,â Abbey laughed.
âEmma! Emma!â A women called through the crowd. âOh my god! Emma, Youâre okay!â A woman that looked a couple years older than Abbey swooped Emma up into her arms.
âMummy!â Emma cried.
âThank you for helping my girl,â Emmaâs mom said. Her eyes suddenly went wide as she recognized Abbey.
âDonât worry about it,â she said quickly. âJust keep an eye on your girl.â She looked to Emma. âDonât lose your mummy, Miss Emma.â
âYes, Miss Abbey.â
Abbey turned to leave before too much attention was turned their way. They started to make their way back home. The entire time, Charlie kept looking at her and smiling.
âOkay,â Abbey sighed. âSpit it out.â
âAs soon as you and Harry are married, you two better start popping kids out,â Charlie grinned.
âWhat are you talking about?â
âYouâre really good with kids, and HarryâŚwell, all kids love him,â Charlie explained. âYou guys better have a shit ton of kids.â
âWhy are you talking like Harry has already proposed?â she asked, rolling her eyes.
âBecause you are considering leaving the Navy for him. For you to even think that, it has to be serious.â
She pursed her lips. He was right, but she wouldnât tell him that. âYou really think that Iâm good with kids?â
âYeah,â he smiled as he slung his arm over her shoulders. âI do.â
âIt seems as though Prince Harryâs girlfriend has resorted to doing anything for some good PR. Eyewitnesses tell us that Abbey Price was seen in yesterdayâs crowd for the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant. She was seen helping a little girl that was supposedly lost from her parents. Abbey was seen giving the child crisps while they waited for the police to find her parents.
âAlthough, one of our inside side sources at Kensington say that this was just a PR stunt, you canât deny how adorable Abbey was helping a child.â
âA PR stunt? Why would I ever do that,â Abbey muttered as she threw her phone is frustration. âDonât they have anything better to do than write this shit.â
âWho wrote the article?â Harry asked from her kitchen where he was making them breakfast.
âSomeone at the Daily Mail,â she sighed.
âThatâs your problem,â Harry said as he chewed on a piece of bacon. âThey make better fiction writers than news reporters.â
âObviously,â she muttered. âI just donât understand how they can make up stories when there is so much else to write about with the Jubilee and all.â
He brought her a plate of scrambled eggs. âTrust me, I know exactly what youâre talking about.â
âTheyâre taking the focus off of where it should be,â she said, poking at the food on her plate.
âI know, but itâs what they do.â
âDoesnât mean I have to like it,â she mumbled. She looked up at him âI donât think Iâm going to go to the concert today.â
âWhat? Are you sure?â he asked quickly.
âYeah,â she said. âItâs not like I would be there with you anyways.â
âI guess,â he shrugged. âYouâll come to the afterparty though?â
âAre you kidding me? Like I would miss one of Eddieâs parties,â she laughed.
Of course she was running late, and it was no oneâs fault but her own. She had fallen asleep while watching reruns of some stupid show. She had woken up to about thirty text messages and almost as many missed calls from her friends. All wondering why she wasnât at the party. It was a wonder that no one had come to check on her since she was nearly two hours late.
So now, as a result, she was running around like a mad woman trying to get ready. She rushed around trying to find her jacket that she swore was somewhere in her closet. Her phone was once again ringing violently.
She didnât even look at the caller id. It had to be one of her friends. âYes, I know. Iâm late, but Iâll be there soon,â she said quickly as she continued to look for her jacket.
âIs this Lieutenant Price?â
Abbey sat up straight and felt her cheeks go red. This was not any of friends. âUh, yes, sir. This is she.â
âThis is Lieutenant Commander Jordan. Your JAG lawyer.â
âYes, sir. What can I help you with?â Abbey asked.
âI wanted to let you know that Miss Emmerson has taken our deal. Youâll just need to fill out some paperwork, and then youâre done with this mess,â he explained.
Immediately, she felt an enormous weight had been taken off her shoulders. âI can come by your office Monday morning to sign everything.â
âWhere the hell have you been?â Beckett asked Abbey once he spotted her walking into the party. âYou were suppose to be here hours ago. I was about to go look for you.â
âKinda lost track of time.â She looked around the room. Once again, Eddie had outdone himself.
âYou missed the concert,â he stated.
âI thought it would be better not to go after the last couple of days,â she explained as she took a glass of champagne from a passing waiter. âAnd I got to have a much needed nap.â
âOf course,â he grinned.
âIs my boyfriend somewhere around here?â she asked.
âAh, yes.â Beckett looked across the room. Abbey followed his eyesight and saw Harry at the bar. âHe got a little depressed when you didnât show up.â
âSo he decided to do shots with his brother?â she questioned. âWhy arenât you over there with him?â
He chuckled and scratched the back of his neck. âI sorta lost my date.â
She bit her lip, trying her best not to laugh. âYou lost your date?â she managed to ask.
âBe nice,â he warned. âEverything was normal until Harry forced me to take a shot, and I turned around and she was gone.â
âMaybe itâs time to find better dates,â she smirked.
âAre you offering, Abigail?â he asked, putting on his signature smile. âHave you finally seen the light? Are you going to leave Harry for me?â
âIn your dreams, Beckett,â she said, patting him on the shoulder. âDonât get into too much trouble.â She made her way over to Harry.
âAbigail!â Harry shouted when he saw her. The smell of alcohol radiated off of him. He basically threw himself on her. âI missed you. I thought you decided not to come.â
âWow, you certainly havenât slowed down,â she mumbled. She looked to Will, who had a lazy smile on his face. âWhere is your wife?â William only shrugged his shoulders. Abbey shook her head and returned her attention back to Harry. âCome one, letâs get you some water.â
Abbey grabbed one of the unopened water bottles off the bar and then helped Harry to a couch in the corner. She put the water in his hands and urged him to drink.
âOnce you drink that, you can go back to having shots with the future King of England.â She sat down across from him. She didnât understand why he had drank so much in the first place.
âWhy were you so late?â he asked, slurring her words.
âI fell asleep and woke up late. Then I got a call from one of my lawyers,â she explained. She pointed to the water in his hands. âDrink.â
He took a long drink. âDo you want to marry me?â he asked suddenly.
âIâm rethinking it now,â she mumbled under her breath.
âWhat?â
âYou know I do, Harry,â she sighed. She sat back and crossed her arms. âWhatâs going on in that head of yours?â
âYouâre going to laugh at me.â
âMore than when Iâm going to laugh at you when you realize youâre gonna have to drag your hungover ass to Thanksgiving Service in the morning?â she challenged.
âOh god,â he groaned as he buried his head in his hands when he realized she was right. âIâm going to hate my life in the morning.â
âIf it makes you feel any better, Will is going to hate his life too,â Abbey offered. He looked up at her with a miserable look on his face. âWhatâs going on, Harry?â she asked quietly.
âWhen you didnât show up, I thought you stood me up, and William didnât help. He said that you probably found someone else to spend the night with.â
She couldnât stop her mouth from dropping open. âYour brother is a dick.â
Abbey stood up and searched the room for William. She spotted him still at the bar. She beelined towards him to give him a piece of her mind. She wasnât sure what had come over her. Maybe everything had finally pushed her over the ledge. But she was not going to stand by and let someone talk shit about her, even if they were royalty.
âHarryâs not here if you lost him already,â William said when she appeared next to him.
âYou know, I wouldnât normally say anything, but after all the bullshit Iâve been through recently, I canât ignore it. I donât appreciate the way you talk about me and the fact that you would put it in Harryâs head that I would leave him for anyone.â She stepped closer; so she was only inches away from him. âYou may not like me, but Iâm not going anywhere unless your brother decides to break my heart.â He opened his mouth to say something but she ignored him. âSo you better get used to me being around because Iâm in it for the long haul, buddy.â She turned around and started to walk away.
âYou canât talk to me like that,â William called after her.
She stopped. âI just did,â she smirked. She slipped down into the worst curtsy she could do. âYour Highness.â
She walked straight back to Harry. He had drank the rest of his water and looked like he had fallen asleep sitting up.
She gently shook his shoulder. âCome on, babe. Letâs get you home.â She helped him up.
âLove, are you crying?â he asked wiping a tear off her cheek.
She didnât even realize she was crying. âIâm fine,â she said, forcing a smile.
His thumb brushed across her cheek. âI love you, Abigail.â
âI love you, Harry.â
The next morning came all too quickly for Harry. Abbey, on the other hand, had the liberty to sleep in. She woke up in Harryâs bedroom, the late morning sunlight warming her skin.
The memories of the night before came flooding to her. She couldnât believe she had talked to William like she had, but she didnât regret any of it. William was an asshole for saying what he did to Harry. How someone could be that mean to their own brother was beyond her.
Abbey rolled over and smelled Harryâs pillow. She loved him more than she could ever express. He made her feel things that she didnât think was possible. Just thinking about him caused butterflies in her stomach. He was it. And for someone who had been terrified of commitment most of her life, it scared her shitless.
Eventually, Abbey pulled herself out the comforts of Harryâs bed. She found one of Harryâs shirts and slipped it over her head. She walked towards the kitchen in search of coffee. She poured herself a cup and headed to the living room to hopefully watch the last of the Service of Thanksgiving. She rounded the corner and got a clear view Beckettâs bare ass.
âWhat the hell are you doing, Beckett?!â she yelled.
Beckett jumped up and quickly grabbed a pillow off the couch to cover his front. âAbbey, what are you doing here?â
âI had sex with Harry last night and havenât done the walk of shame yet,â she said, rolling her eyes. âSeriously, why are you here and why you naked?â
âHarry letâs me stay here sometimes, and I really canât tell you why Iâm naked,â he said sheepishly.
She shook her head. âFind your pants. Thereâs coffee in the kitchen.â
Beckett sidestepped around her and disappeared down the hallway. Abbey sat down on the other couch and took a big gulp of coffee. Beckett come back eventually with pants that Abbey suspected were Harryâs.
âSo why do you stay here when you like five minutes away?â Abbey asked.
âHabit, I guess,â he shrugged.
âAh,â she hummed.
âIf it bothers you, Iâll stop,â he offered.
âNo, no, it doesnât bother me. You being naked bothers me,â she said pointedly. âI live with my best friend and Harry doesnât complain about it. You just surprised me.â
Beckett reached for the remote. âYou wanna see how hungover Harry is?â
âHeck yes!â she grinned.
Beckett and Abbey had a great time watching most of the younger royals through their hangovers. Abbey was particularly happy at how miserable William looked.
After a long morning, Harry wanted nothing more than to crawl back into bed, but when he stepped into his home, he heard Beckett talking and Abbey laughing. As he got closer, he could hear what Beckett was saying.
âSo there I was with a half empty bottle of whiskey in my hand and Harry out cold at my feet, and the entire time I was trying to come up with some excuse as to why I was in this position to the Headmaster,â Beckett said. Harry rolled his eyes. Of course, he had to tell her this story.
âOh my god!â Abbey laughed. âHow long was he out for?â
âSeveral minutes. Although, if you ask Harry, heâll tell you that it had been our least favorite prefect who had hit him over the head instead of running into the cabinet himself,â Beckett explained.
âDid you get in trouble?â she asked.
âI got written up for possession of alcohol,â he shrugged.
âWhat he doesnât tell you,â Harry spoke up finally. âIs that he was the reason we got caught because he started yelling about how amazing whiskey is.â
âCouldnât hold your liquor?â Abbey teased Beckett. Harry came over to Abbey and kissed her cheek.
âI was 15. Of course I couldnât hold my liquor,â Beckett defended.
Abbey looked to Harry. âDid you really knock yourself out on a cabinet?â
âMaybe,â he grinned. âWhat other embarrassing stories has he told you?â
âDonât worry. I didnât get to any of the incriminating ones,â Beckett said as he stood up. âIâm going to head home and clean up.â He pointed to Abbey. âNext time, itâs your turn to tell stories.â
âYou got it,â she smiled.
Beckett left and Harry sat down next to Abbey. She threw her legs across his lap.
âSo do you mind telling me why William told me to keep you in check?â Harry asked as he ran his fingers up and down her legs.
âI may have given him a piece of my mind last night,â she said, looking down at her hands.
âWhat did you say to him because he wasnât too happy?â he questioned with a hint of a smile.
She looked up at him. âI told him I didnât appreciate the way he talked to you about me , and I wasnât going anywhere,â she said.
âThatâs it?â he asked.
âThat was the gist of it,â she shrugged. She looked up at him. âWas he really mad?â
âHe wasnât happy thatâs for sure,â he chuckled.
âYouâre not mad at me?â
âNah, William needs to be knocked off his pedestal every once in awhileâ he shrugged.
âOkay, good.â
âSo you never told me why your lawyers called you yesterday.â
She was surprised he remembered her telling him that he called. âThey wanted to let me know that Courtney took their offer.â
âRemind me what the settlement was again.â
âShe has to pay a fine of 3.5 million to the U.S. government for releasing classified information. She cannot legally travel to the United States for at least the next ten years, and she has to pay me 8 million for pain and suffering she caused.â
âAre you happy with outcome?â he asked.
âIâm happy that itâs finally over. Itâs felt like this has gone on way too long,â she sighed. âI donât even care about the money; Iâm just happy that she got some sort of repercussion.â
âIâm sorry this happened to you. Itâs my fault it happened.â
âItâs over with. Nothing we can do about it now,â Abbey smiled. âThere is something I want to tell you.â
âWhat?â
âMy next deployment, whenever it is, will be my last,â she said. âIâve already talked it over with Charlie and my commander, and they understand why I want to do it.â
âYouâre gonna get out?â he asked, not believing what he was hearing.
âItâs time,â she said softly. âI want to start my life with you, and I canât do that while Iâm still in the Navy.â
âWow,â he muttered. âAre you sure thatâs what you want?â
âYeah,â she nodded. âNothingâs final yet, but Iâm doing it.â
He had a big grin on his face. âYou have no idea how happy this makes me.â
âIt could be a couple years before it happens,â she warned. âIt could be a while before I get deployed, and my deployment could be anywhere from six months to a year.â
âI know, I know,â he said quickly. âBut this is the start of our future together.â
one gifset per appearance â diamond jubilee celebrations: day 3 [Âź] - thanksgiving service, st. paulâs cathedral (05/06/2012)
The Royal Family attended a Thanksgiving Service at St. Paulâs Cathedral, London. The service commemorated the Queenâs Diamond Jubilee, but unfortunately the Duke of Ediburgh was not in attendance as he had been taken to the hospital the day before. The Archbishop of Canterbury made a touching speech about the Queenâs merits: âDedication to the service of a community certainly involves that biblical sense of an absolute purge of selfish goals, but it is also the opening of a door into shared riches. I donât think itâs at all fanciful to say that, in all her public engagements, our Queen has shown a quality of joy in the happiness of others; she has responded with just the generosity St Paul speaks of in showing honour to countless local communities and individuals of every background and class and race. (âŚ) To declare a lifelong dedication is to take a huge risk, to embark on a costly venture. But it is also to respond to the promise of a vision that brings joy. (âŚ) But we are marking today the anniversary of one historic and very public act of dedication - a dedication that has endured faithfully, calmly and generously through most of the adult lives of most of us here. We are marking six decades of living proof that public service is possible and that it is a place where happiness can be found.â
