I want your opinion on Lacenet non-stop being censored because they claim Lace is a 'child.' Lore literally shows she's an ancient silk construct made by Grandmother Silk who has lived in Pharloom for centuries, and the in-game 'child' references just talk about her unchanged physical form/demeanor, not her actual age! Why does the fandom keep debating this and ignoring the facts? I just want your thoughts on it!
Hi anon! At this point I've sort of grown apathetic to it, but it still does bother me every now and again.
Though i do believe that lace isn't a child, i do very much see where other folks are coming from... But! That doesn't give either side the right to pester others when the situation itself is so debatable and nuanced. Like me personally i definitely don't like lacenet as much as i did before finishing the game, but i don't mind it and think folks should have the right to ship it without being harassed!
Take the knight, for example! Are they truly hollow or not? There are many reasons for or against it, but i wouldn't say either can truly be called 'correct'. (Though due to the themes of both games being largely about challenging fate, i would say I think the latter is more thematically fitting.)
And since we're on the topic of the knight, I am going to give my one main reason as to why i believe taking what the caretaker said about lace to heart and considering her to be a child is complete and utter bullshit!
So disregarding my theory i made like a week ago, all things considered the knight - or at least the knight's shell - is that of a literal baby. Or possibly an unborn fetus, it's never really clarified...
However! there are clearly still characters in the game that are infatuated with them!!
Is it possible that team cherry didn't think that far ahead? I guess so... But this combined with Shakra mistaking hornet for a literal child proves one very important thing:
YOU CAN'T TELL A BUG'S AGE JUST BY LOOKING AT THEM!!!!!
I doubt the caretaker and lace have ever had a proper conversation, so i think it's safe to say that his statement of lace' having the look of a child and a mind to match' (not the exact quote too lazy to find it sorry) is most likely a generalization on his part meant to indicate that her form has stagnated and she's immature.
Also her not really actually being a bug and having lived hundreds of lifetimes does also make this quite a bit more complicated.
My final thoughts? Let people do whatever they want!!! I promise lacenet shippers aren't p3dos, they just interpreted the lore a different way and these anti lacenet folks need to get that through their thick skulls...
