Divining Intervention
pernicious-innovator:
âIâm in trouble, yes. Iâm handling it.â They⌠think theyâre winning, anyway? They have Abatu on the run, losing the argument. The contract is bending. Breaking. But once it doesâŚ. âActually⌠I need your help.â
ââŚBawd, Iâm⌠I need you to get me out of here. I wonât be able to leave on my own, once Iâve done what I need to.â No patron means no magic, no magic means no control in this plane. No control means no escape.Â
Thereâs a long pause after that, as Bawd considers why theyâll need her help. This sounds like theyâre going to do something dumb, maybe. Why is this always a thing.Â
âInny, what exactly is it youâre planning to do? Ill need to know, to have a proper plan to get you out.â She doesnât bother asking why they wonât be able to get themselves out on their own. Mostly because, well, she isnât really considering that Innovator is trying to break their contract. That just doesnât even ping as a possibility on her end. A mistake, sure, butâŚ
⌠They donât want to tell her. More than anything, Inny doesnât want people to know theyâll be coming back weaker than ever. They donât want that information out there⌠So, of course, they have to lie.
ââŚMy magic will be⌠suppressed, in a way. I wonât be able to drag myself out. Iâm⌠in talks, I suppose. With my patron.â Thatâs as specific as theyâre willing to get at the moment, or possibly ever.
She doesnât believe them for an instant but she knows by now that pushing wonât get any answers. Sheâs just going to have to take them at their wordâŚfor now.Â
âAlright. How will I know when youâre ready to come back? Will you contact me in some way, or do you already know the timing?â Sheâs going to have to make notes of this once she comes out of this trance. ââŚIâm glad youâre alright. I was worried.âÂ
âDonât bother worrying. This had to happen.â One way or another. The other option would leave them dead... this simply MIGHT leave them dead. âIâll contact you. I should be able to reach out to you, since youâre still connected this realm and Iâm currently residing in it, magic or no.â
Thatâs... the theory, anyway. Inny loved science and experiments and testing their theories but... this was risky, even for them. An eternity in the Furthest Ring did not sound appealing.
