Explosions in the Sky

I have a lot to say and it’s always hard for myself not to get lost in different tangents so I’m going to focus this piece a bit. 

Honestly, I just want to say that it gets sad sometimes to catch up with my friends that live in other parts of the world. It’s a trade-off you now. I”m extremely happy for them. They’re doing what they love and finding themselves along the way. However, when they come to visit me I think to myself “damn, like no one could fill in the space in my heart for that person”. 

I saw my friend Brittany today (she lives in CA and I hadn’t seen her in over a year) and it was so good to hear her voice, her stories, the way she sees life. It’s been awhile since I’d seen her and I’m always like “damn, you’re super dope and I’m so proud to be your friend, I can’t wait to see you accomplish everything you want. Like you deserve so much.”  

Then, the reality of maturity and adulting sets in and I remember that she has to go back to CA. And it reminds me of Betsabe (my sister). 

Like it’s because of how much joy I experience around the people I love, I feel the sorrow equally. As high as it brings me up, it brings me equally down. And it’s hard yo. Because it makes me not want to see any of my friends that live away. Friends like Michelle, and Sara. However, I’ve learned to cherish the moments I spend with people that live far away from me. I make the most of the times they come to see me because there’s so little time and none of it should be wasted on negative memories.
