hello class, today i’m going to teach you how to finesse your writing skills.

okay so i know alot of times the reason why i don’t reply to others or rp with others is because i like a lot of people feel insecure about my writing, especially when someone uses such sophisticated words and i’m like ‘ ooo theirs is so fancy ’ compared to mine. not that there’s anything wrong with anyones writing, if you feel confident with your writing then great - that’s a level of confidence a lot of us hope to achieve, myself included. 

For example : i used to say ‘ her brown orbs gazed at him. ’

I now write : ‘ mahagony hues settled on his. ’

two websites that have helped me gain some confidence in my writing are wordnik and powerthesaurus. i prefer wordnik because it offers more words than powerthesaurus, but both of these websites have helped me find words to replace within my writing to help build the plot / scene. i decided to share incase anyone else was struggling with their writing and felt like they couldn’t get better or worried about their writing not improving. it’s a learning process. writing is all about revision, write your sentence out first. then go back and using either powerthesaurus or wordnik, pick a word or two and try to see if there’s a word that sounds better. you’ll slowly see your original thoughts begin to transform, and notice your sentence taking on a different structure than what you initially had.
