These are strengths in which Howard Gardner called the âEight frames of mindâ. Â It is interesting to see which one comes most naturally to us. Â For some people, they may have multiple intelligences and for others they may have one very strong frame.
This is great - clear layout of some of the different stages. Great visual and easy to read/understand.
Critical thinking.
Paiget's Theory - Adolescents actively construct their own cognitive worlds
Through Piagetâs view this is achieved by:
Assimilation - incorporating new information into already known knowledge.
Accommodation - adjusting the schemes to new information.
Equilibration - a turn in an individuals thought process from one state to another
Furthermore, Piaget developed the progressive process of cognitive development in four stages continuing throughout the lifespan:

Piagetâs personal fable theory can not only invoke feelings of invulnerability, but have a pessimistic effect. Some people believe that their own personal problems and situation are so unique that no one else could ever understand. the individualâs perception of self can become so devastating to such an extent that they feel inferior to everyone around them in varying aspects, spiralling into patches of frustration, depression and loneliness. Without support, love and guidance, people in these scenarios can become susceptible to dangerous behaviours such as drug use and perhaps even suicide. Material from Weiten, Santrock & Berks works. Â
Continuing his hard hitting series addressing the major social issues facing New Zealanders, this week Nigel Latta takes a serious look into our drinking culture.

A year after moving to Auckland, Cam Dawsonâs music career is taking off as he finds both his confidence and his voice.â¨â¨
Cam is 14 years old, a talented student, musician, oh and heâs blind. This doco travels with Cam as he moves from living with his mum and sister in Marlborough to Auckland so he can board on the Homai campus and attend Manurewa High School. Â
Throughout the year of filming we notice changes to Camâs voice as increased testosterone occurs with puberty. Â On a psychosocial level we see Cam identity with the students in his music class and excel in his role as a pianst. Â But his concept of family and where he belongs/wants to be is challenged by living apart from his family.
Banduraâs self efficacy beliefs initially made me think of my toddler daughter and her high-pitched scream of âMe do it!â when it came to her helping with cooking, choosing and putting clothes on, shampooing her hair etc. This protestation of wanting control over activities I took to be a...
Jean Piagetâs theory of cognitive development.
Thanks for putting this on.. I think âvisuallyâ and this will make it a lot easier for me to remember long-term than the tables and lists..

When I was nine years old my breast began to develop and subsequently my Mum got a training bra for me to wear! I tried it on and hated it - it was tight and uncomfortable and I didnât want to wear it! However, one day at school we were doing gymnastics and were required to do a recital in front...
Erikson's Identity versus identity confusion crisis
I love this crisis as i think it is so accurate of what adolescents experience. Psychological moratorium, a period of searching for self and future roles, was a huge part of my adolescence. I was constantly changing my mind about who i wanted to be and what i wanted to do with my life. When i read about this crisis it automatically clicked to me as i remember experiencing it all myself!Â
DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT OWN THE SONG!
This is a great video made by teens for teens - understanding eating disorders and self harming from their perspective. Â The stats are astounding, it confuses me as to why these disorders are not understood more completely with a more effective treatment plan.

This is a really useful article on identifying the difference between sadness and depression in children and adolescents.
The signs of depression, among many include tearfullness, angry outbursts, weight loss or weight gain, unexplained sadness,...
I think the most defining part of my adolescence and most likely most peopleâs adolescence would be leaving college and having to decide what you want to do with your life. This is a big step in any adolescents life and a lot of people have it all figured out, some have no idea. For me i sort of...

Self understanding
âawareness of and ability to understand oneâs own actions.â
During adolescence it is normal for individuals to think of themselves in idealistic and differentiated situations they see the good and the bad or the ideal and real. Due to these thoughts and ideas the adolescent...
