shes got a way… she got away

some days are busier than others at the station, jenny is learning, and although the busy days are her favorite, today she has been thankful for the day off. things at uncle james’ farm have been just as stressful and difficult as it has been nice, jenny devoting every bit of energy outside of work in trying to do whatever she can to make sure he is happy and taking care of himself, not really spending all too much time getting herself reacquainted with the place that somehow feels like the place she grew up in but also completely different. that is why she woke up early and went on a walk downtown, taking a moment to take in all of hatchetfield just as the sun was starting to rise when she spots a familiar face.

if jenny is being honest, the position at the station is the very last job that she would have ever imagined herself doing, but that really made her throw herself into her new job even more. although it's different from anything she's done before, jenny has found comfort in the busy-ness that comes with being on the team at the station. she likes listening on the various stories, she likes running errands around hatchetfield, she likes being able to hear what’s going on in the town she’s oh so desperate to be her home again even though it feels wrong. more than anything, though, she likes being around people, meeting new people, and hopefully making friends, though, now that the holidays are over, she’s trying her very best to focus on work, to solidify her job. friends could wait a moment. she needs to move out of her uncle's and into her own place, to stand on her own two feet which is why the moment commercial break starts, jenny is approaching the desk with coffee pot in hand.

of the many things that are different about hatchetfield, jenny didn’t know if she was surprised or not at the sight of the starlight theater looking almost the same, at least from the exterior. it was a strange sight to be sure, but as has so much of hatchetfield ( nostalgia and regret are a bitch, though. she shouldn’t be surprised ). her opinions on the theater are… complicated and layered, but the curiosity to see inside, to explore all of hatchetfield all over again is strong- which is why after jumping upon seeing the other leave the starlight she’s just as quick to leap into approaching her.

biography | although she was not born in hatchetfield, jenny has always considered hatchetfield to be her home- or at least her favorite place to be. most of her childhood was spent bouncing between her uncle's farm in town and her mother's apartment in ann arbor until when jenny was in second grade, her uncle's place became jenny's permanent residence. though not her legal guardian, jenny considers her uncle james to be her parent, her cousin ellie her sibling. things were alright... at least with her family, her true family, jenny was happy.

jenny spent all of elementary school through the end of high school trying every single activity she could, both for want of finding something for herself that she was good at and a place she could fit in. she has truly done it all - soccer, volleyball, cheerleader, mechanic, woodshop, theater ( on and off stage ), band, but she never stayed in an activity long. nothing clicked. friendships did not last as she leapt from hobby to hobby. then came college-

perhaps too quickly, she latched onto what felt like her first true friend she had ever had and even faster, her feelings for him shifted from love for her friend to something more. terrified of the change and the potential of loss of him, she swallowed her feelings down until she couldn't anymore, doing the very thing she hated herself for for years and running away with only a letter and deep guilt.
