i appreciate the effort and care people are giving to Canadian and Minnesotan communities affected by the wildfires but i also wish people had given that effort to the fires out west
i know it's more common for the western united states to have fires but the aspen acres fire is still burning it's been weeks and it is now the 7th most destructive wildfire in the history of colorado and i can still see the smoke every day and over 300 homes have been lost in that fire and many people have still not been able to return to their homes
if you can consider donating to united way of southern colorado they're the main organization assisting evacuees and families affected by the fires
Financial donations are the fastest and most effective way to support wildfire response and recovery.

also one way you can vastly improve the air quality inside your house and still be able to run things like air conditioning that takes in air from the outside when the air quality is bad from wildfire smoke is buying merv 13 filter cloth and literally duct taping it to the intake on your air conditioning
it's a lot cheaper than air filters and you can measure it out and cut it to fit your intake perfectly and then just duct tape it on it really made a massive difference as a person sensitive to wildfire smoke when the fire first started here who also needed to have their ac in otherwise it will be 90f in their house

Collins is gone.
Namaygoosisagagun First Nation/Collins has burned to the ground. The entire community is nothing but ashes after being quickly consumed by wildfires. They did not have any support from emergency services, and no one offered aid. The community saved themselves by escaping into boats because no one came.
Mishkeegogamang and Cat Lake have lost power. Families are ending up in shelters with nothing. Armstrong, Lac La Croix, Whitesand, Gull Bay, Lac des Mille Lacs are currently in the fires path and all members are being evacuated.
All this loss, all this devastation, and it was entirely preventable.
After steadily underfunding wildland firefighting and purposefully excluding Indigenous wildland firefighters and Indigenous wildfire organizations from wildfire operations, firefighter training, decisionmaking, and resource exchanges, in 2025, Doug Ford slashed the forest firefighting budget.
It's hard to ignore his decision to cut funding and leave us out of adequate fire training (even though we've lived with forest fires for thousands of years—far longer than settlers have been in Canada—and made sure fires like the ones we're all seeing today were prevented through kinisitotēn) when, despite making up less than 5% of the population, we account for 42% percent of all wildfire evacuations in Canada.
And when we are successfully evacuated, we face discrimination and racism—like Kashechewan—because it's always been easier to blame us than it is to blame the true culprit: denialism, corportate greed, and colonization.
The people of Collins and every other impacted community deserve better.
Right now, the AFN is currently accepting donations to help Collins First Nation. If you're able to, please consider donating.
ONWA (Ontario Native Women's Association) is another great place to donate to. They have outreach vans going to motels and inns and offering food, water, resources, and cultural support to those impacted by the wildfires.
Other places to consider donating to are Mikinakoos Emergency Fund, Red Cross, True North Aid, Indigenous Climate Action. You can also send donations directly to Whitesand First Nation via e-transfer ([email protected]) and they request that you add your full name in the e-transfer comment section to receive a tax receipt.
*Before sending money, verify that the appeal appears on an official First Nation, Tribal Council or registered charity channel.
If you can't offer financial support, please consider donating items of need. Moontime Connections is currently accepting drop-off donations. If you live in the Thunder Bay area, Namaygoosisagagun Health Office is also taking in donations! They can also bemailed to Superior Inn Hotel & Conference Centre at 555 West Arthur Street, Thunder Bay, ON, P7E 5P8.
items needed are: food, diapers, medical masks, men’s and women’s joggers (all sizes), children’s clothing (newborn to size 14), children’s shoes, summer clothing, men’s clothing, toiletries (lotion, Vaseline, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, soap, deodorant, etc.), strollers, adult depends-all sizes, dog & cat food

i think it’s a good idea to make a separate individual post that isn’t a bunch of paragraphs but yeah basically my situation is: ive lived under a slumlord for years, he filed to evict me and my disabled mom who I take care of after we tested for mold and every room tested positive, he was convinced by legal aid to drop the eviction and give us until the end of the month to leave and we both have apartments in different cities lined up but not nearly enough money to cover the costs of moving including: rent and down payments, rental trucks and gas. (Also just other costs of living at the same time). We’re moving on the 25th and on very limited time id really appreciate any help cashapp and venmo are @ ishaanjs &thank you to everyone who has helped me and given me advice or support these last couple months it means a lot

A great place to donate to First Nations groups impacted by the ongoing wildfires 👇
True North Aid provides practical humanitarian support to northern and remote Indigenous communities in Canada through community-led project
Also consider Mikinakoos' as they're extending support beyond their traditional service areas due to the scale of this emergency!

our last post died. like really bad so I’m making a new one
my gf and I are a black wlw couple who are trying to make it to mid August when my job starts and we need help until then. my gf needs money for her estrogen, I need money for my psych meds, and we need groceries to feed an 8 person household + a cat, and our phone bill
because of the heatwave and following storms, we haven’t been able to go out to the food bank, and while we no longer live in a food desert, the car has been in the shop for about a month now so it’s basically just been cup noodles since june, but we’ve run out.
I get that things are hard for everyone, and I hate having to make this post but we really have no other options rn as my gfs potential clients are leaving her on read and my job doesn’t start for another month.
my cashapp is $silvertheestallion
my gfs cashapp is $Santanajammn

ICE murdered an innocent man in the city near me yesterday. Please share the fundraiser for his family widely & donate what you can.
us dept of defense announcing that testosterone therapy is now mandatory for cis male servicemembers, meanwhile every trans guy in this country has to crucify himself three times over just to get 1/3 of his testosterone prescription
Hey, this is a straight up inaccurate framing of what the article is about. The testosterone screenings for cis male members of the military will be mandatory, but the option to take testosterone therapy will be voluntary. I am also a trans man, & I understand the frustration that somebody might feel at a member of the us military getting handed medication that we desperately need for free bcuz of hypermasculine standards enforced by Hegseth et al, but deliberately misrepresenting what this article is about isn't cool. We should all be taking the time to make sure we're not sharing alarmist misinformation that only increases the stress we're all under as a community.
