The looks lasted longer. The touches didn't stop where they used to. Neither said it out loud. But everyone knew they were each other's favorite person.
Author note: Hello everyone. It has been quite some time since my last post, so I truly hope you enjoy this one. I put a great deal of time and thought into writing it. Please note that the story is fairly lengthy, and the more intimate scenes develop gradually, so there will be a considerable amount of buildup before anything explicit occurs. I appreciate your patience, and I hope you enjoy reading it.
ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘
The movie played softly in the background, the taint glow from the TV flickering across the living room.
Jaehyun and Y/N sat side by side, wrapped in the quiet comfort that came with being around each other.
The world outside was silent; even the hum of the night seemed to fade away.
When the scene on screen shifted to something more daring, Jaehyun let out a low laugh, glancing sideways at her.
"You know," he said, his voice smooth and teasing,
"we could totally do that."
Y/N blinked, caught off guard. "Do what?" she asked, acting as if she hadn't heard him.
He turned fully toward her now, one arm draped along the back of the couch. His eyes lingered on her a little too long, his smirk deepening.
"Don't play dumb," he said softly. "I'm saying... maybe we should try it. Just for fun."
Y/N's heart gave a small jump.
The room suddenly felt smaller, the air thicker.
She looked at him, really looked, and saw the familiar playfulness in his expression, but also something else.
She hesitated, biting her lip before answering. "You're not serious," she said, half teasing, half testing.
Jaehyun tilted his head slightly. "Why not? It's harmless, right?"
Her laugh came out quieter than she expected.
"Maybe," he said, his gaze still on her, "but you didn't say no."
The silence that followed wasn't awkward - it was electric.
She could feel his warmth next to her, the rhythm of her heartbeat syncing with the tension building between them.
Jaehyun moved closer, close enough that she could smell his cologne, soft and familiar.
"Y/N," he said quietly, "just for fun."
She met his eyes, trying to hide the nervous excitement rising in her chest. Then, before she could talk herself out of it, she whispered, "Okay"'
Jaehyun smiled, slow and certain.
The movie flickered forgotten in the background as they leaned closer, the space between them dissolving into something charged and unspoken.
The moment stretched a breath held, a pulse shared until it finally gave in to what they'd both been waiting for.
It wasn't just a joke anymore.
ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘
Jaehyun leaned back on his bed, one arm behind his head, scrolling through his phone like he wasn't very obviously waiting for her to show up.
"Move. You're taking up the whole bed."
He didn't even look up. "Maybe you're just too small.
Not my fault you're like... fun-sized"
"Fun-sized?" she scoffed. "I'll show you fun-sized," she said, and smacked him with a pillow.
Jaehyun finally looked at her, that smug little smirk tugging at his lips. "Violence? Already? You must really like me."
She rolled her eyes. "Trust me, if I liked you, you'd know. There'd be confetti or something."
He laughed that deep, teasing laugh that made her want to either kiss him or launch him out the window.
Still, she climbed onto the bed, crossing her legs beside him. The air between them warmed instantly, that mix of comfort, tension, and pure chaos that only the two of them could pull off.
He side-eyed her. "You're sitting awfully close for someone who claims to hate me."
"Yeah," she said, smirking. "I just want to make sure you suffocate from lack of personal space."
"You know you look too good today. It's annoying."
Jaehyun turned his head slowly, eyes dragging down her face, like he was savoring it.
"Funny," he murmured, voice low, "I was just thinking the same thing about you."
Her heart skipped but she rolled her eyes because pride was a thing.
And gosh, she hated him for knowing exactly what that did to her.
She leaned in. He leaned in too, like gravity was pulling them.
Their breaths tangled. His hand found her waist, fingers pressing like he had every right.
"Y/N," he said softly. It was her name, but it sounded like a confession.
That's how it always started.
Their mouths met slow at first, then hungry.
Like they were trying to breathe each other in, like they needed it.
His hand slid up her back, hers grabbed his shirt collar, pulling him closer, closer, closer
Her back hit the mattress.
His lips moved to her jaw, her throat
She let out a soft whimper before she could stop it.
Y/N froze under him, wide-eyed.
"Jaehyun-ah?" his mother called from the hallway.
They scrambled Y/N practically rolled off the bed, hitting the floor with a thud.
Jaehyun slapped a hand over his mouth to stop laughing.
Y/N glared up at him from the floor, hair messy, lips swollen.
He leaned over the side of the bed, whispering with
"You look cute down there"
His mother knocked lightly.
"Are you alone? I have snacks."
Y/N's eyes widened panic.
Jaehyun ran a hand through his hair, trying to look normal, voice completely casual
They stayed completely still as his mother opened the door just a crack, peeked in, saw nothing unusual, dropped a plate of fruit on his desk, and left.
As soon as the door clicked shut, Jaehyun let out the breath he'd been holding, then burst into quiet laughter. Y/N smacked his arm.
He wiped a fake tear from his eye.
"Oh it was. You almost died trying to hide."
He hooked a finger under her chin, gently turning her
"But you're still here." She didn't move away.
"Yeah," she whispered back. "I know."
Because they were both too obsessed to stop.
And too scared to admit it.
ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘
The restaurant was chaos, the fun kind.
Laughter bounced off the metal grill tops, smoke curled up from sizzling pork belly, and someone had already opened a second bottle of soju even though the food had barely started cooking.
Y/N sat wedged in the booth between Jungwoo and Taeyong, chin in her hand, pretending to listen as Johnny told a story way too dramatically for what it probably was.
Johnny raised his chopsticks like a mic. âIf we were in a K-drama, Iâd be the comedic relief character who falls in love by accident. So basically⌠me in real life.â
Mark was half-choking on rice, Haechan was clapping like it was the funniest thing he'd ever heard, and Y/N, despite trying to stay composed, burst into laughter.
Her head tilted back, bright and unguarded, and that's exactly when Jaehyun walked in.
He stopped in the doorway for half a second, scanning the table, then his eyes landed right on her.
Y/N was laughing, shoulders shaking, hand covering her mouth as Johnny tried to reenact his "Wendy's face."
And Jaehyun just stood there, lips tugging into a quiet, almost amused smile, though something flickered in his gaze that he quickly masked before anyone noticed.
"Look who finally decided to show up!" Doyoung called out, spotting him first. "Practice, or were you just fixing your hair for an hour?"
Mark grinned. "He probably ran out of mirrors."
Jaehyun shook his head, still smiling as he slid into the only empty seat, directly across from Y/N. "Had to finish practice," he said simply, reaching for a cup like nothing was out of place.
Y/N looked up from her plate, her grin still lingering.
"We thought you got lost."
Johnny pointed his chopsticks at Jaehyun. "Yeah, man, we were about to give your pork belly to Yuta as tribute."
Yuta, half-lidded and calm, raised his hand in lazy agreement. "I would've accepted.
Jaehyun smirked, glancing across the table. "Missed me that much?â
Y/N didn't miss a beat. "We were too busy laughing to notice."
That earned a chorus of "oooohs" from the group.
"Burn!" Jungwoo laughed. "Y/N 1, Jaehyun O."
Jaehyun only leaned back, one corner of his mouth lifting. "We'll see."
Yuta turned the meat, humming. "He's plotting revenge. I can feel it."
The table roared again, but Jaehyun wasn't really listening, not fully. His gaze drifted back to Y/N, who was now helping Jungwoo refill cups, her laughter still soft in the background.
He looked away, smiling faintly.
Late or not, he was exactly where he wanted to be.
ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘
The restaurant buzzed with noise and laughter, the kind that always followed this group wherever they went. Plates of meat sizzled on the grill in the middle, soju bottles half-empty, everyone talking over one another.
Mark and Johnny were on either side of Jaehyun, as usual, already in the middle of teasing him.
"Bro, did you cut your hair?" Mark leaned closer with a grin. "You're looking clean lately. You trying to impress someone?"
Johnny smirked, nudging him with his elbow. "Yeah, you've been glowing lately. Don't think we haven't noticed."
Jaehyun just shook his head, smiling faintly but saying nothing. His gaze didn't go to them. It drifted past the grill, past the laughter, straight to Y/N, sitting across from him.
Y/N was calmly turning the meat, pretending not to notice.
"Don't burn it again, chef," Jungwoo piped up from her side, grinning wide. "You always mess up the first batch."
Y/N shot him a glare. "And you always eat the most.
Maybe try helping for once?"
The table erupted in laughter. Jungwoo just held his hands up, still grinning. "Hey, I'm just here to supervise."
Haechan leaned back lazily in his chair, sipping from his glass. "Supervise? You mean criticize?"
"Same thing," Jungwoo said easily, earning another laugh. But even as he joked, his eyes flicked briefly between Jaehyun and Y/N, watching the subtle way Jaehyun's gaze lingered on her.
He tilted his head slightly, eyes flicking between the two of them with a grin tugging at his lips. "What's that look for, Jaehyun? You eyeing the food or something else?"
The table erupted in laughter, but Jaehyun didn't bite. He only smirked faintly and reached for his glass.
Taeyong clapped his hands suddenly. "Okay, okay!
Serious question, who's up for karaoke after this? It's been months since we all went!"
"Oh, I'm in," Doyoung said right away, grinning.
"Someone's got to show you all how it's done again."
Haechan leaned back, smirking. "Here we go. Mr.
High Note's about to start bragging again."
"I'm not bragging," Doyoung said, though his smirk said otherwise.
"Yeah, you are," Johnny chimed in. "Every time we mention karaoke, you start monologuing about your 'perfect pitch.''
The table erupted in laughter.
"Okay but for real," Mark said, gesturing around the group. "We're literally all good singers. Karaoke is just an excuse for us to show off."
"Speak for yourself," Yuta murmured from beside him, tone smooth and calm. "I go for the vibes."
"Yeah, the "I sound perfect without trying' vibes,"
Yuta just smiled faintly, flipping the meat on the grill.
Taeyong pointed at Y/N. "And you're coming this time. No hiding behind the excuse that you 'don't Sing well."
Y/N laughed, shaking her head. "I never said that. I just don't perform for free."
"Spoken like a diva," Doyoung said, grinning.
The table roared with laughter.
"Okay, okay," Jungwoo said, leaning forward with mock seriousness. "But can we talk about how Y/N pretends she doesn't like singing, then goes and kills every duet?"
"That was one time!" she protested, laughing.
"One time too many," Jungwoo said, narrowing his eyes like a detective. "Suspicious behavior, honestly."
"Suspicious?" Y/N laughed again. "For being talented?"
"Maybe for other reasons too," Jungwoo muttered under his breath, eyes flicking between her and Jaehyun.
Nobody caught it except him.
The conversation flowed easily after that playful bickering about song choices, harmonies, and who always tried to outshine whom.
But through the chaos, Jungwoo noticed little things.
Jaehyun wasn't talking much, just leaning back in his chair, watching, relaxed but tuned in. And every so often, his gaze found Y/N again.
And every time it did, Y/N's posture shifted slightly, a small smile, a glance down at her drink, like she knew.
Jungwoo leaned back, smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. They really think no one notices.
"So, it's settled then?" Taeyong asked, clapping his hands again. "Karaoke after this?"
"Let's go!" Mark said. "We're bringing the house down."
"Jaehyun's going to open," Doyoung declared. "No arguments.â
That earned more laughter except Jaehyun, who just smiled faintly.
Under the table, slow and deliberate her foot slid forward and brushed his ankle.
Jaehyun's voice stopped mid-sentence.
Foot trailing up his leg.
He exhaled sharply, almost a laugh.
She finally looked up, meeting his gaze head-on her hazel doe eyes, soft but daring, like she was daring him to react.
His jaw tightened just slightly.
And that's when Y/N pressed her foot a little higher, a little more pressure.
Jaehyun's tongue slid across his bottom lip, slow.
"I don't know," he said, voice calm, soft. "Not really feeling it tonight."
The table groaned in unison.
"Come on!" Johnny added. "You always bail!"
"Yeah, what's up with that?" Haechan asked, tilting his head. "The guy with one of the best voices never wants to sing."
Maybe he just doesn't want to outshine us,"
Everyone laughed, except Jungwoo, who was watching Jaehyun closely.
Because the way Jaehyun's voice softened wasn't tired, it was distracted.
Y/N didn't even look at him, but she spoke quietly.
"It's fine. Let him rest."
And there it was again, that tone. Gentle. Familiar.
Like something private slipped into a public conversation.
Jungwoo's eyes narrowed just slightly. Huh.
Jaehyun stood, grabbing his jacket. "Yeah," he said,
"Already?" Taeyong asked.
And, as if on cue, Y/N stood too. "I'll go too," she said casually. "Got some stuff early tomorrow.
The table didn't think twice.
"Text when you get home!" Taeyong said.
"Don't forget karaoke next week!" Doyoung called.
"Later," Jaehyun said, hand already in his pocket.
They slipped out together, quiet, casual, too casual.
Jungwoo watched the door swing shut behind them.
For a moment, the group kept talking, still laughing, but Jungwoo's attention lingered.
Finally, Johnny turned to him. "What are you staring at?"
Jungwoo blinked, looking back with a small smile.
"Nothing. Just... analyzing patterns."
"Patterns?" Haechan repeated, confused.
Jungwoo shrugged, still smirking. "You'll see.
Taeyong laughed, shaking his head. "You're weird."
"Yeah," Jungwoo said lightly, leaning back in his seat.
The rest of the group dove back into conversation, planning karaoke songs, arguing over harmonies, Yuta quietly humming something under his breath, while Jungwoo just sat there, half-listening, half-smiling to himself.
Everyone else was clueless.
Only he had noticed the quiet glances, the easy rhythm between them, the way they always left together.
He didn't say a word about it yet.
But the next time they all met, he'd be watching.
ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘
The drive was quiet, not awkward, just full.
The kind of quiet that hums under your skin.
When they pulled into her driveway, the house was dark, just like she said.
Her parents were gone for a wedding that weekend.
She unbuckled her seatbelt.
He looked at her, really looked at her, the way he only ever did when they were finally alone.
"You knew exactly what you were doing back there," he said quietly.
Y/N leaned over, face close enough to feel his breath.
His hand came up, fingers brushing her jaw, barely. "You drive me crazy," he whispered.
She smiled slowly, dangerously, certain.
She opened the door and stepped out.
Jaehyun followed without needing an invitation.
Because he never needed one with her.
ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘
The front door clicked shut behind them. Neither of them spoke. Y/N leaned back against the door, breathing just a little too deeply, looking up at him with that same look shed given across the table, innocent on the surface, dangerous under it.
His hands slid to either side of her on the door, caging her in without touching her.
"You think you're funny?" he asked, voice quiet, like it was pulled from somewhere deep in his chest.
Y/N tilted her head up at him, smug.
He let out a short laugh, but there was no humor in it.
He leaned in, forehead almost touching hers.
Y/N's fingers toyed with the zipper of his jacket, lazy, unbothered.
"Didn't look like just sitting to me," he murmured.
"Looked like you were trying to ruin me."
She pushed up on her toes, lips brushing his jaw, not kissing, just touching.
His hand slid to her waist, pulling her in, and she met him halfway - mouths colliding in a kiss that wasn't soft this time.
His other hand lifted to the back of her neck, holding her there like he needed her close to breathe.
His other hand lifted to the back of her neck, holding her there like he needed her close to breathe.
She kissed him back just as hard, fingers curling in his shirt, pulling him down to her.
He moved his mouth to her cheek, her jaw, back to her lips, deepening it, slowing it, dragging it out like he was learning her all over again.
When he finally pulled back, both of them were breathing like they had run.
His forehead rested against hers.
"Y/N," he said - and her name sounded like he'd been holding it for years.
"What you did under that table-"
His voice broke just a little.
"You have no idea what you do to me."
Y/N smiled against his mouth.
"Oh, I know," she whispered.
She took his hand - no words - and led him down the hallway.
The quiet was louder than anything.
They reached her bedroom; the door clicked shut behind them.
Jaehyun pressed her back roughly against it, his hands on her face now, like he was ready to devour her.
"I don't want anyone else to look at you the way I do."
She ran her thumb along his jaw, slow, teasing, loving.
Then he kissed her again, rough.
Her hands slid into his hair, pulling him closer; his arms wrapped around her waist, holding her like she was the only thing grounding him.
He kissed her like he was trying to memorize her.
And she kissed him like she had already known he belonged to her.
The kiss deepened again, warm, breathless, the kind that makes everything else disappear.
The room felt different now, quieter, heavier, charged with something unspoken. Their kiss lingered, slow and searching, the kind that made time stretch and blur around the edges.
Jaehyun's hand found her waist as they moved together, neither wanting to let go. Every step felt like a pull, as if gravity itself had decided to draw them closer. When they finally stopped, Y/N could feel her heartbeat in her throat, wild and uneven.
He looked at her, really looked, eyes dark and unreadable under the soft light. With a quiet exhale, he slipped off his jacket, revealing the black shirt beneath. It wasn't the action itself that made her breath catch, but the way he looked at her while doing it, calm, steady, but with a spark she'd never seen before.
For a moment, neither of them spoke. The air between them was alive with everything they didn't say. He reached up, brushing a strand of hair from her face, his touch feather-light but enough to send a shiver down her spine.
"Y/N," he whispered, his voice low and uncertain.
She shook her head before he could finish, grabbing his face with her hand as she brought her lips towards his.
He kissed her like a man starved, his lips hungry and unrelenting, as if he could never get enough of her.
Jaehyun's right hand pinned Y/N's left wrist above her head, while his other hand traced possessive paths along her curves, pulling her closer with every breath.
Jaehyun could feel Y/N melting against him, her lush body molding to his like she was made for him. He could hear her soft, breathy little moans, could feel the way her fingers clutched at his shirt. It spurred him on, made him want to push her harder, to take her further.
Jaehyun's lips trailed slowly along Y/N's sharp jaw, his breath hot against her skin. Her own breaths hitched in her throat as his mouth moved lower, tracing the delicate curve of her neck. With every kiss, every lingering touch, he left faint love bites, marks that claimed her, marks that said she was his.
ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘
Jaehyun was already awake, lying back against Y/Nâs mountain of pillows like he owned the place. Sunlight spilled across her ridiculously spacious room â the kind that looked like it came straight out of a magazine.
He was scrolling through Instagram, completely unbothered, one arm behind his head.
Next to him, Y/N was curled up, her head on his chest, hair a tangled mess.
He smirked down at her. âMorning, princess.â
She groaned, voice muffled against him. âFive more minutes.â
âYou said that fifteen minutes ago.â He tapped his phone. âAlso, you drooled on me. Again.â
Her eyes snapped open. âNo, I didnât.â
He flipped his camera around and pretended to take a selfie. âGuess Iâll have to post it â âRich girl Y/N in her natural habitat.ââ
She sat up instantly, glaring. âDelete it, you asshole!â
He laughed, that deep, lazy sound that always got under her skin. âRelax. Itâs just for the archives. Youâve been drooling on me since middle school sleepovers.â
âYeah, back when you werenât sleeping in my bed like this!â she hissed, throwing a pillow at him.
Before he could respond, there was a sharp knock on the door.
âSweetie? Are you awake?â
Jaehyunâs smirk vanished. âThatâs your mom, isnât it?â
Her eyes went wide. âOh my gosh..yes. Shit.â
He sat up, panicked. âYou told me your parents were gone this weekend!â
âI thought they were!â she whisper-yelled. âHide, Jaehyun, hide!â
âWhere the hell am I supposed to go? Your roomâs the size of a damn hotel!â
âBathroom!â she hissed, pointing toward the marble double doors across the room.
He bolted, nearly tripping over one of her fluffy rugs. âYou rich people have too much damn furniture!â
âJust shut up and go!â
He dashed into the bathroom, slamming the door just as her mom knocked again.
âYeah! Iâm awake!â she called, voice higher than usual.
âYou sure? Itâs almost ten. You usually donât sleep this late.â
âI was⌠tired! From studying!â she said quickly.
âYeah! You know, hard work, academics, brain stuff!â
There was a pause. Then â the unmistakable sound of Jaehyun sneezing. Loudly.
Y/Nâs soul left her body. âAchooâuh, me! Sorry, allergies!â she added, fake-coughing for good measure.
Her mom hesitated. âWell, breakfast is ready if you want some. The cook made pancakes.â
âOkay! Iâll be down soon!â
A few silent seconds passed. Then, the footsteps faded down the hall.
Y/N exhaled so hard she nearly fell off the bed.
âJaehyun,â she hissed, âyou can come out now.â
The bathroom door creaked open, and Jaehyun peeked out, hair messy, expression unimpressed. âStudying? Really?â
âYou sneezed!â she snapped. âI was improvising!â
He leaned against the doorframe, grinning. âYou panicked. It was cute.â
âCute,â he repeated, walking closer. âLike when you tried to hide me behind your teddy bear in fifth grade.â
âJaehyun, I swearââ
He grabbed his shirt off the chair and tugged it on, still grinning. âYouâre lucky your mom didnât walk in. That wouldâve been one hell of a family reunion.â
âPlease leave before she comes back,â Y/N muttered, shoving at his arm.
He laughed under his breath, heading toward the window like it was routine. âAlright, alright. Tell your chef I said thanks for the pancakes Iâm never getting.â
âLittle bit funny,â he said, flashing her a wink. âSee you later, princess.â
She threw a pillow at his back as he slipped out. âI hate you!â
He called over his shoulder, âYouâve been saying that since we were ten!â
When he was finally gone, Y/N collapsed back on her bed, groaning into her hands.
âNext time,â she muttered, âIâm locking my door.â
ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘
It was 2 p.m., and Y/N was finally starting to breathe again.
Her mom had left for work hours ago, the house was quiet, and Jaehyunâs early-morning escape had gone miraculously undetected.
No one knew. No one suspected. Everything was perfectly fineâ
âWho the hellâ?â she muttered, heading for the front door.
When she opened it, she instantly regretted every life choice sheâd ever made.
âHeyyy, sleepyhead!â Taeyong beamed, stepping inside like he owned the place.
Behind him trailed the rest of her high-school crew: Yuta, half-smiling and clearly high as usual; Jungwoo, grinning with his hands in his pockets; Haechan, sipping a canned coffee; Doyoung, looking effortlessly cool; and Johnny, already mid-story while Mark tried not to choke on laughter.
âYour momâs not home, right?â Johnny asked. âShe wonât mind us chillinâ here?â
Y/N blinked. âUhâno, sheâs at work. Why are you guys here?â
Taeyong grinned. âWe were bored. And your house has the best snacks.â
Johnny smirked. âAnd the best A/C. Rich-people air hits different.â
âFacts,â Haechan said, heading straight for the kitchen like he lived there.
Y/N groaned. âYou guys seriously treat my place like itâs a public cafĂŠ.â
âYeah, a five-star cafĂŠ,â Johnny added, flopping onto the couch. âYou got any of those fancy imported chips? The truffle ones?â
âYou literally have your own mansion, Johnny.â
âYeah, but your maid actually stocks good snacks.â
The whole room cracked up.
Yuta giggled from the couch, half-zoned out. âThis couch feels like clouds⌠bro, am I floating?â
Mark laughed so hard he nearly spilled his drink. âBro, youâre gone.â
Y/N tried to relax, pretending nothing was wrong â but her heart was pounding.
Because Jaehyun still hadnât texted her.
And his phone â his stupid, expensive phone â was still sitting in her nightstand upstairs.
If anyone went up thereâ
âYo, Y/N,â Taeyong said suddenly, looking up. âWhy didnât you text us last night? We were waiting for your meme spam after the BBQ.â
âUhâŚâ she started, mind blank. âMy phone died!â
Taeyong frowned. âYou have like three chargers.â
She forced a laugh. âYeah, but I, uh, fell asleep right after I got home. Jet lag.â
Doyoung raised an eyebrow. âYouâve lived here since you were two.â
â...Emotional jet lag?â she tried.
Johnny snorted. âGirl, thatâs not even a thing.â
Yuta hummed dreamily. âIt could be. Like⌠your soulâs tired.â
Everyone laughed again, and Y/N silently thanked Yuta for being unintentionally helpful.
ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘
The gaming room in Y/Nâs house looked more like a mini arcade than a âroom.â Neon lights lined the ceiling, two massive screens glowed on opposite walls, and there was a snack bar stocked with everything imaginable.
Mark was sprawled on a beanbag, yelling at the TV. âTaeyong, you cheated again!â
Taeyong laughed, joystick in hand. âYouâre just mad Iâm better!â
âYou literally tripped me in real life!â
âThatâs called strategy, bro!â
Y/N sat cross-legged on the couch beside Jungwoo, halfway through a bag of chips. âYou two argue like an old married couple.â
Haechan smirked. âNah, old married couples have more peace.â
Everyone burst out laughing.
Yuta, calm as ever, leaned against the pool table, sipping soda. âI donât know why you all play against Taeyong. Dudeâs competitive like itâs the Olympics.â
âThatâs rich coming from you,â Jungwoo shot back. âYou once screamed because your Wi-Fi lagged for half a second.â
âI had a kill streak!â Yuta said defensively.
Y/N laughed so hard she nearly dropped her chips. âYâall take gaming way too seriously.â
âBig words from the girl who threw her controller last time,â Doyoung said.
âThat controller attacked me first,â she replied flatly, opening another snack bag.
Haechan whistled. âHow do you even eat that much? Youâre like five feet tall.â
âIâm five-four!â Y/N said, throwing a chip at him.
âFive-four with platform shoes,â Jungwoo muttered, ducking when she aimed another one.
Then, the door opened â and in walked Jaehyun, holding three bags of takeout and looking way too put together for a casual hangout.
âFinally!â Johnny yelled. âWe were starving!â
Jaehyun raised an eyebrow. âYou guys have been surrounded by snacks.â
âSnacks arenât meals,â Y/N said seriously, already reaching for one of the bags.
Jaehyun chuckled. âYou didnât even ask what it is yet.â
âI donât need to. I trust my stomach,â she said, already unpacking containers.
Mark peeked inside. âHoly shit, he got fired chicken AND dumplings?â
âYup,â Jaehyun said, smirking. âAnd spicy tteokbokki because someoneââ he looked directly at Y/N, ââcomplained about it last time.â
She looked up, eyes wide. âYou remembered?â
âOf course. You wouldnât shut up about it.â
Y/N gasped. âBecause it was dry! Who eats dry tteokbokki?â
Johnny groaned. âHere we go again.â
âSheâs right,â Taeyong said, stealing a dumpling. âDry tteokbokki is a crime.â
Jaehyun sighed. âYouâre all dramatic.â
âDramatic? Bro, she eats like itâs her last meal every time,â Jungwoo said, laughing.
âDamn right,â Y/N said with her mouth full. âFoodâs sacred.â
Doyoung grinned. âSheâs gonna fight for food before she fights for love.â
âPriorities,â she said proudly, grabbing another piece of chicken.
Yuta sat down beside her, nodding. âHonestly? Respect. I like a girl who knows whatâs important.â
âThank you, Yuta. Finally, someone with sense.â
Mark held up his chopsticks. âCan we all agree that Jaehyun should always be in charge of food?â
Johnny nodded. âYeah, you actually brought edible stuff. Unlike the time Jungwoo ordered salad for everyone.â
Jungwoo gasped. âIt was healthy!â
âBro,â Taeyong said, dead serious, âweâre not leaf-eating rabbits.â
The room erupted in laughter again.
Haechan leaned back, grinning. âThis is why I love hanging out here. Food, games, and chaos.â
Y/N smirked. âAnd free air-conditioning. Donât forget that part.â
âHey, that electricity billâs on your parents, not us,â Doyoung said.
âExactly,â Jungwoo said. âWeâre basically doing the environment a favor by using your resources.â
Y/N rolled her eyes. âYou guys are freeloaders.â
Jaehyun sat down next to her, smirking. âYou love it.â
She nudged him with her shoulder. âI love the food. Youâre just delivery service at this point.â
He laughed, pretending to be offended. âExcuse me? Iâm the one keeping this group fed.â
Johnny clapped him on the back. âThen bless your pretty hands, bro.â
Taeyong raised a fry like a toast. âTo Jaehyun â the provider.â
Everyone echoed, âTo Jaehyun!â and burst out laughing again.
Y/N leaned back, smiling between bites. âYou guys are idiots.â
âRich idiots,â Jungwoo said, grinning.
âEven worse,â she replied, shaking her head with a laugh.
Jaehyun looked around at the chaos, Johnny cracking jokes, Taeyong talking with his hands, Mark snorting at everything, Yuta calmly eating like nothing phased him, Doyoung rolling his eyes, Haechan trying to film a vlog, and then at Y/N beside him, a small frame buried in snacks and laughter.
He couldnât help smiling.
This was their chaos â loud, ridiculous, and perfect.
ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘
The bass hit first.
Low, heavy, and vibrating through the ground like a pulse.
Jackson Wangâs Halloween party wasnât just a party â it was an experience.
Purple and blue strobe lights cut through the haze of smoke and fog, shadows sliding over walls painted in neon graffiti and glitter. The air smelled like a mix of cologne, cheap vodka, and the faint burn of smoke.
The house was packed â people dancing like theyâd forgotten time, some laughing so hard their makeup streaked, others pressed together on the dance floor like the world was ending in rhythm. A few bodies tangled in dim corners, while others hovered by the kitchen counter, red cups in hand.
Mark whistled low. âBro, Jackson never misses.â
Johnny grinned, already scanning the room. âItâs Halloween, baby. Time to make bad decisions.â
âAgain?â Doyoung asked dryly.
Johnny ignored him and headed straight into the crowd, Mark following close behind, already waving at a pair of girls dressed as fallen angels.
Haechan was already deep in conversation with someone near the staircase, while Doyoung found an old classmate and started chatting.
Taeyong leaned against the wall, laughing with a girl dressed as an ice fairy â Winter â her glitter catching the lights every time she moved closer.
That left Jungwoo and Jaehyun by the kitchen island, each with a drink in hand.
Jaehyunâs cowboy costume was barely holding together â his hat already off, sleeves rolled up, that quiet, confident look never leaving his face.
Jungwoo nudged him. âMan, every time I look up, someoneâs saying hi to you. You're like royalty here.â
âNot my fault Jackson invites half the campus,â Jaehyun said, smirking.
âTrue,â Jungwoo said, sipping from his cup. âStill, the vibeâs crazy tonight.â
Across the room, the crowd shifted. Thatâs when Jaehyun saw her.
Y/N, in her costume that was half dangerous, half playful, was dancing with a few of her friends near the center of the floor. The lights hit her in flashes, red, blue, gold, every color bouncing off her skin. The music wrapped around her movements, her laughter cutting through the noise for a second before melting back into the chaos.
Jaehyun didnât mean to stare. But he did.
Jungwoo followed his gaze and chuckled. âYouâre doing that thing again.â
âThe thing where you look like youâre thinking about her but pretending youâre not.â
Jaehyun didnât answer. He just took another drink.
Johnny returned a few minutes later, Mark trailing behind him, both flushed and grinning, half-drunk and full of stories already.
âBro!â Johnny shouted over the music, clapping Jaehyunâs shoulder. âThis partyâs insane. You gotta come dance before the cops shut it down.â
âIâm good,â Jaehyun said.
âSuit yourself, Woody,â Johnny said, laughing before getting distracted by another group waving at him.
Jaehyun smiled faintly until he caught sight of Y/N again.
Sheâd stopped dancing now, walking toward the kitchen. Her hair was messy from moving, a few strands sticking to her cheek. She smiled at the boys as she passed, saying something funny that made Jungwoo laugh out loud.
Then she spotted someone across the room and waved, Yeonjun.
They hugged quickly, like old friends, before leaning against the counter to talk. Yeonjun was saying something that made her laugh, that confident, easy smile of his lighting up his face.
Jaehyun tried not to react. He knew Yeonjun; everyone did. Charming. Cocky. Too smooth for his own good. But Y/N just looked comfortable, like she was catching up with someone she hadnât seen in a while.
Still, the unease was there. Sitting heavy in Jaehyunâs chest.
Then it happened: a tall guy in a biker jacket bumped into Y/Nâs arm, spilling his drink down her side.
âOh, shoot.. Iâm so sorry!â the guy, Kai, said quickly, grabbing napkins.
Y/N laughed, waving it off. âItâs fine! Iâm just sticky now.â
âLet me make it up to you,â Kai said, grinning, handing her a napkin. âDidnât mean to ruin the ladybug look. Youâre kinda pulling it off though.â
She smiled politely. âThanks. Iâm fine, really.â
Jaehyunâs hand tightened around his cup.
He mumbled something to Jungwoo, who raised an eyebrow but didnât stop him.
By the time Jaehyun reached them, Y/N was mid-sentence. ââno, seriously, itâs not a big dealââ
âHey,â Jaehyun said smoothly, slipping beside her. âEverything okay here?â
Kai blinked at him, confused. âYeah, man. Just an accident.â
âCool,â Jaehyun said, voice calm but leaving no space for argument. âY/N, you good?â
She gave him a look, half amused, half questioning. âIâm fine.â
Still, Jaehyun gestured toward the patio. âCome on. Airâs better outside.â
She sighed, but followed.
The sliding doors opened to a swirl of cold night air and muffled bass. The yard was strung with fairy lights, a few people smoking or laughing by the pool. The city skyline glowed in the distance.
For a moment, they just stood there, the music vibrating faintly through the glass.
Y/N crossed her arms. âYou didnât have to play bodyguard, you know.â
âI wasnât,â Jaehyun said quietly. âI just didnât like how he was talking to you.â
âHe was apologizing.â
âI know.â He rubbed the back of his neck. âStill.â
She tilted her head. âYou really gonna get jealous at a Halloween party?â
He met her eyes then, calm, serious. âIâm not jealous. I just⌠notice when someone crosses a line. Especially with you.â
The air felt thicker for a moment. The glow from the house flickered across their faces.
She studied him, that familiar teasing smile softening just a little. âYou always notice, huh?â
âYeah,â he said. âCanât help it.â
For a beat, neither of them spoke, the sounds of laughter, music, and far-off sirens filling the silence instead.
Then Y/N nudged him lightly. âCome on, cow boy. Before they think youâre brooding out here.â
He smiled. âMaybe I am.â
âSave the brooding for after-party selfies.â
She turned back toward the door, and for a second, he just watched her, that same pull in his chest from every party, every laugh, every time she looked at him like that.
Then he followed her inside, back into the chaos of light and sound, both of them pretending nothing had shifted, even though it had.
ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘
The night had quieted by the time they left Jacksonâs mansion.
The air outside was cold, clean in the way it only got after midnight, carrying faint traces of the smoke and perfume that clung to their clothes. The sky above Seoulâs outskirts was deep indigo, scattered with a few stars barely visible past the cityâs glow.
They walked side by side down the wide, empty street, their footsteps echoing off the pavement. The partyâs noise still rang faintly in their ears, the bass, the laughter, the haze, but out here it was just them and the soft hum of the night.
âYou think Jacksonâs partyâs still going?â Y/N asked, glancing back.
Jaehyun chuckled. âKnowing him, it wonât end until sunrise.â
âProbably,â she said, pulling her jacket tighter. âItâs weird hearing silence after all that.â
âYeah,â he murmured. âKinda nice though.â
They walked for a while, the conversation meandering, classes, mutual friends, random stories. Every so often, she bumped her shoulder against his, and heâd bump back lightly, the easy rhythm of their friendship returning after a chaotic night.
By the time they reached Jaehyunâs house, the clock on his phone flashed 1:07 a.m. The neighborhood was still, all the other homes dark.
âYour parents still in Milan?â Y/N asked.
âYeah. Fashion week. Wonât be back until next weekend.â
She nodded, stepping inside as he held the door open. The house was big and modern, but it felt emptier than usual, quiet, like it had been holding its breath all week.
They walked upstairs without saying much, the sound of their shoes against the wood faint in the silence.
When they reached his room, Jaehyun closed the door behind them. The soft click seemed louder than it should have.
For a moment, neither said anything. The air felt different, heavier but not uncomfortable.
Y/N looked around and smiled faintly. âYou seriously havenât cleaned since your mom left, huh?â
He laughed quietly. âItâs been a busy week.â
She tossed her jacket on the chair and sat on the edge of his bed, her usual ease returning. âYou always say that.â
He leaned against the wall, watching her for a second before shaking his head with a small smile. âYou really know how to steal attention, you know that?â
She looked up. âWhat do you mean?â
âAt the party,â he said, still half-smiling. âEvery time I looked around, someone was talking to you or dancing near you. You just stood out.â
She tilted her head. âThatâs not my fault.â
âI didnât say it was.â
Her expression softened a little, curious but quiet now. âThen what are you saying?â
He looked away for a moment, searching for words, then met her eyes again. âJust that it drives me a little crazy sometimes. Seeing how everyone looks at you.â
The room stayed silent for a heartbeat too long.
Y/N didnât tease him this time. She just smiled, small, real, and said, âYouâve always been bad at hiding how you feel.â
He laughed under his breath. âGuess so.â
Outside, a car passed somewhere down the street, headlights flashing through the window for a brief second before fading away.
And for a while, neither of them said anything more, just sat there, the quiet of the house around them, the space between them humming with things they werenât ready to say yet.
Jaehyun took a slow step closer. The sound of his shoes against the floor was soft, but Y/N still heard it, felt it, almost.
She looked up at him, her eyes catching the dim light from the window.
He hesitated for a second, then reached out, his fingers brushing gently under her chin, guiding her gaze back to him.
âYou lookâŚâ he started, voice low, like he wasnât sure if he wanted her to hear it. ââŚyou look amazing tonight.â
Y/N blinked, surprised, the words hanging between them. The air seemed to grow still, the quiet pressing in from all sides.
Jaehyunâs eyes searched hers for a moment longer, the kind of look that said everything heâd been holding back for years, before he smiled a little, the corner of his mouth twitching.
âYou really have no idea what you do to me, do you?â
Her heartbeat skipped, her voice barely above a whisper. âMaybe I do.â
Jaehyun's thumb traced a light line along her jaw, his touch warm and deliberate.
He leaned in closer, his breath mingling with hers, the faint scent of whiskey from the party lingering on his lips.
Y/N's pulse quickened, her body already responding to the shift in the air, the way his cowboy hat sat crooked on his head from the night's chaos.
"Do you?" he murmured, his voice dropping an octave, rough around the edges.
His free hand found her thigh, fingers splaying over the smooth skin exposed by her short ladybug costume, the red fabric hugging her curves, the black spots dotted playfully but doing nothing to hide how it rode up when she moved.
She swallowed, her eyes flicking to his mouth. "Show me what I do to you, then."
That was all the invitation he needed.
Jaehyun closed the distance, capturing her lips in a kiss that started slow, testing, but quickly deepened.
His tongue slipped past her teeth, tasting her, claiming her with a hunger that had been simmering all night.
Y/N's hands came up to his chest, fingers curling into the plaid shirt of his cowboy costume, feeling the hard planes of muscle beneath.
He pulled back just enough to look at her, his eyes dark and intent. "Lie back," he said, not a question, his hand pressing gently but firmly on her shoulder.
Y/N complied, easing onto the bed, the mattress dipping under her weight.
The ladybug wings attached to her back crinkled slightly as she settled, but she didn't care.
Jaehyun followed, kneeling between her legs, his hands sliding up her thighs, pushing the hem of her costume higher.
He hooked his fingers into the waistband of her panties, simple black lace that contrasted with the playful red, and tugged them down slowly, exposing her to the cool air of the room.
"Fuck, you're already wet," he growled, his gaze fixed on her pussy, glistening in the low light. He discarded the panties aside, then leaned down, his broad shoulders parting her legs wider.
Jaehyun's mouth hovered for a teasing second before his tongue flicked out, tracing her folds with a flat, slow lick that made her gasp.
Y/N's fingers tangled in his hair, knocking the cowboy hat off entirely it tumbled to the floor with a soft thud. "JaeâŚ" she breathed, her hips arching up instinctively.
He held her down with one hand on her hip, the other gripping her thigh, keeping her open for him.
His tongue delved deeper, circling her clit with precise pressure, then sucking gently.
The wet sounds of his mouth on her filled the room, mixing with her soft moans.
Jaehyun was relentless, building the rhythm, alternating between long licks and quick flicks, tasting every inch of her like he couldn't get enough.
She writhed under him, the tension coiling tight in her core, but he pulled back just as she teetered on the edge, his lips shiny with her arousal.
"Not yet," he said, voice husky, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. He stood briefly, unbuckling his belt with practiced ease, the clink of metal echoing in the quiet. His jeans dropped, followed by his boxers, his cock springing free, thick and hard, the pink tip already beading with pre-cum.
Y/N's eyes locked on it, her mouth watering at the sight.
Jaehyun stroked himself once, twice, watching her reaction, then climbed back onto the bed.
He positioned himself at her entrance, rubbing the head of his cock along her slick slit, coating himself in her wetness.
"You want this?" he asked, though the answer was clear in the way her body trembled.
"Yes," she whispered, her hands reaching for him.
He pushed in slowly, inch by inch, stretching her with a burn that bordered on exquisite pain.
Y/N moaned, her walls clenching around him as he bottomed out, filling her completely.
Jaehyun groaned, his forehead resting against hers for a moment, savoring the tight heat of her pussy gripping his cock.
Then he started moving, pulling out almost all the way before thrusting back in, deep and controlled.
His hands pinned her wrists above her head, one large palm encircling both, holding her in place as he set a steady pace.
The bed creaked under them, the sound rhythmic, matching the slap of skin on skin.
Y/N's ladybug costume bunched up around her waist, her breasts heaving with each breath, nipples hard against the thin fabric.
Jaehyun's free hand roamed, squeezing her breast, thumb rolling over the peak through the material.
"You feel so good," he muttered, his thrusts picking up speed, hips snapping harder now.
He released her wrists to grip her hips instead, angling her just right so his cock hit that spot inside her that made stars burst behind her eyelids.
Y/N's moans grew louder, her body arching to meet him, but the control was all his, his pace, his depth, dictating every sensation. Sweat beaded on his brow, his cowboy shirt half-unbuttoned, revealing the flex of his abs with each drive. He leaned down, capturing a nipple in his mouth through the costume, sucking hard enough to make her cry out.
The pressure built again, her orgasm hovering close, but Jaehyun slowed deliberately, grinding deep instead of thrusting, drawing it out. "Beg for it," he said against her skin, his voice a low command.
"Please, Jaehyun⌠fuck me harder," she gasped, her nails digging into his shoulders.
He obliged, pounding into her with renewed force, the headboard thumping against the wall.
Y/N's world narrowed to the stretch of his cock, the friction, the way he owned every inch of her.
But as the pleasure crested, something shifted inside her, a spark of defiance amid the haze.
With a sudden push, she twisted her hips, using the momentum to roll them over.
Jaehyun landed on his back with a surprised grunt, his cock slipping out briefly before she straddled him, her hands on his chest pinning him down now.
The power flipped in an instant, her eyes locking onto his with a wicked gleam.
"My turn," she said, voice breathy but firm.
Y/N reached down, guiding his slick cock back to her entrance, then sank down onto him in one fluid motion.
They both moaned at the new angle, her pussy taking him deeper, clenching around his length.
She started riding him slow at first, rolling her hips in circles, grinding her clit against his pelvis with each downward press.
Jaehyun's hands gripped her thighs, fingers digging in, but he let her lead, his eyes hooded and dark as he watched her move.
The ladybug costume's skirt flared around her waist, her breasts bouncing with the rhythm she set.
Y/N picked up speed, lifting and slamming down, the wet sounds of her pussy swallowing his cock obscene in the quiet room.
She leaned forward, bracing her hands on his chest, nails scraping over his skin as she rode him harder, chasing her release.
"Like this?" she teased, her voice a pant, though the control made her feel powerful, alive.
Jaehyun thrust up to meet her, but she controlled the pace, slowing when he got too close, then speeding up again.
His hands slid up to cup her ass, squeezing, spreading her as she bounced on him.
"Fuck, Y/N⌠you're killing me," he groaned, his cock throbbing inside her.
The tension snapped for her first, she threw her head back, a cry escaping as her orgasm crashed over her, walls pulsing around him, milking his cock.
Jaehyun followed seconds later, his hips bucking up as he came, hot spurts filling her deep, his grip bruising her hips.
Y/N collapsed onto his chest, both of them breathing raggedly, his arms wrapping around her in the afterglow.
The room smelled of sex and sweat, the Halloween costumes disheveled around them.
For a moment, they just lay there, hearts pounding in sync, the quiet of the house settling back in.
"That wasâŚ" Jaehyun started, his voice muffled against her hair.
"Yeah," she agreed, smiling faintly, not ready to say more yet.
ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘
The aftershocks of their release faded into a warm, languid haze, their bodies still tangled on the rumpled sheets.
Y/N shifted slightly, her cheek pressing against the steady rise and fall of Jaehyun's chest, the rapid thump of his heart slowing to a comforting rhythm under her ear.
The ladybug costume lay discarded in a heap on the floor beside his cowboy shirt and hat, leaving them both bare and sated in the dim glow of the bedside lamp.
Jaehyun's arm draped loosely around her shoulders, his fingers threading gently through her hair, twirling soft strands absentmindedly.
The room felt smaller now, more intimate, wrapped in the quiet hum of the movie he'd flicked on earlierâa forgotten action flick playing low on the TV across from the bed, explosions and dialogue murmuring like white noise in the background.
Explosions lit up the screen in bursts of orange and blue, casting flickering shadows over their skin, but neither paid it much attention.
Y/N traced lazy circles on his abdomen with her fingertip, feeling the subtle flex of muscle beneath.
The silence stretched, comfortable but charged, until she broke it with a soft sigh. "That was⌠intense."
He chuckled, the sound vibrating through his chest. "Yeah. You okay?"
She tilted her head up to meet his gaze, her eyes soft in the low light.
"More than okay. But⌠we've been doing this for two years now, Jae. Hiding behind 'friends with benefits' like it's some kind of shield."
His fingers paused in her hair, then resumed, slower, more deliberate.
The movie droned on, a car chase revving faintly from the speakers.
"I know. It's not just about the sex for me anymore. Hasn't been for a while."
Y/N's heart stuttered, her hand stilling on his skin.
She propped herself up on one elbow, searching his face, those familiar features she'd known since childhood, now etched with something deeper, more vulnerable.
Jaehyun's eyes held hers, steady and unguarded.
"It's you. All of you. The way you laugh at my stupid jokes, how you always know when I'm stressing about school or whatever. We've been everything to each other except⌠this."
He gestured vaguely between them, his voice dropping.
"I don't want to keep pretending I don't feel more. Seeing you at that party tonight, talking to everyone, it hit me again, how much I hate sharing even a second of your attention."
She swallowed, emotion swelling in her chest, warm and unfamiliar.
"I feel it too. Every time we're together, it's like⌠I want to stay like this. Not just in bed, but everywhere. Holding your hand in public, waking up next to you without sneaking out at dawn. I'm tired of the lines we've drawn."
The movie hit a lull, the soundtrack fading to tense strings, mirroring the beat of her pulse.
Jaehyun reached up, cupping her cheek, his thumb brushing her lower lip. "So what do we do?"
Y/N leaned into his touch, her voice firm despite the tremor.
"We stop being just friends. We try being more. Boyfriend and girlfriend. Real."
A slow smile spread across his face, lighting up his eyes.
She nodded, closing the gap between them.
Their lips met in a kiss that started tender, a gentle press that spoke of years unspoken, then deepened as relief and longing poured in.
Jaehyun's hand slid to the nape of her neck, holding her close, his mouth moving against hers with a softness that contrasted the earlier heat, tongues brushing lazily, breaths mingling in quiet sighs.
He pulled back just enough to smile against her lips, the curve of his mouth warm and genuine.
"Finally," he murmured, his forehead resting on hers. "You're my girlfriend now. And I'm so lucky."
Y/N's laugh bubbled up, light and free, as she kissed him again, the movie forgotten in the background, the world narrowing to just them.
Then Y/N murmured, âWeâre going to have to tell people, arenât we?â
Jaehyun looked down at her, lips curving into a half-smile. âYou mean the chaos thatâs coming once our friends find out?â
She laughed softly. âExactly. Johnnyâs never going to let us live it down.â
âOh, heâll definitely start a group chat just to make fun of us,â
Jaehyun said, shaking his head with a quiet chuckle.
âMark will act shocked for ten minutes, and then start calling us a âpower couple.ââ
Y/N grinned. âAnd Jungwooâs going to say he knew it all along.â
They both laughed, the sound light and easy.
After a moment, Y/N added more quietly, âWhat about our parents?â
Jaehyun sighed, thinking.
âMine will probably say they saw it coming. My momâs been teasing me about you since middle school.â
Y/N smiled against his chest.
âMy parents adore you. Theyâll probably throw a dinner party or something dramatic like that.â
He laughed softly, the vibration of it under her ear comforting.
âAs long as it means I get to keep this,â he said, tightening his arm around her, âI donât care what anyone says.â
Y/N looked up at him, her eyes gentle.
âYouâre such a sap.â
âOnly for you,â he murmured back, smiling.
The movie kept playing, long forgotten.
Their words grew quieter, their laughter slower. The world outside seemed far away, just the faint rain, the city lights in the distance, and the steady beat of Jaehyunâs heart beneath her cheek.
Eventually, Y/Nâs breathing softened, her hand resting over his chest.
Jaehyun brushed a strand of hair from her face, watching her fall asleep with a kind of awe that made his chest ache.
He pressed a light kiss to her forehead and whispered, âGoodnight, my girl.â
Within minutes, he drifted off too, their bodies warm and close under the blanket, the glow of the TV flickering across the room.
The night felt still, peaceful, and full like something that had finally found its place.
ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘
It was the next weekend, and the whole friend group had gathered in Y/Nâs massive living room, snacks everywhere, a movie playing in the background, and Johnny already halfway through his third soda.
Jaehyun sat beside Y/N on the couch, their legs brushing, nothing too obvious, but close enough that it wasnât just friendly anymore.
Mark was the first to notice. âBro⌠why are you two sitting like that?â
Y/N blinked innocently. âLike what?â
Johnny squinted. âLike⌠couple-y.â
Taeyongâs head snapped up. âWait. Couple-y?â
Jaehyun glanced at Y/N, then sighed with a tiny smile. âOkay, fine. We were gonna tell you guys anyway.â
Doyoung frowned. âTell us what?â
Y/N bit her lip, glancing at Jaehyun before blurting, âWeâre together now.â
The room went dead silent.
âWHAT?!â Johnny practically jumped off the couch. âSince when?! HOW?!â
Mark gawked. âBro, I thought yâall were just playing around!â
Taeyong gasped dramatically, clutching his chest. âMy ship came true?!â
Doyoung blinked slowly, then groaned. âI knew this was coming, but damn, itâs still weird hearing it out loud.â
Yuta chuckled from where he was leaning against the wall. âTook you two long enough. The tension was practically a fire hazard.â
Everyone laughed, except Jungwoo, who was sitting there munching on chips, completely unbothered.
Johnny pointed at him. âWait, youâre not shocked?â
Jungwoo shrugged. âYâall didnât know? It was so EASY. Like, come on. They literally eye-fuck every time theyâre in the same room.â
Y/N choked. âJUNGWOO!â
The room erupted with laughter.
Mark was laughing so hard he fell off the couch. âBro, heâs not wrong though!â
Jaehyun rolled his eyes, trying not to smile. âYouâre all ridiculous.â
Johnny grinned. âNah, weâre just right. So whenâs the wedding?â
âJohnny,â Y/N warned.
He raised his hands. âJust saying!â
Taeyong giggled. âOkay, but like, this explains everything, the weird looks, the sudden disappearances, the âweâre just hanging out at Jaehyunâs houseâ textsââ
Yuta smirked. âYeah, hanging out, sure.â
Doyoung groaned. âGod, itâs gonna be chaos now, isnât it?â
âAbsolutely,â Jungwoo said, not even looking up from his chips. âAnd Iâm here for every second of it.â
Y/N covered her face. âYou guys are impossible.â
Jaehyun leaned over and pressed a quick kiss to her temple, not caring this time if they saw.
The room went wild again.
âOH MY GOD, THEYâRE SO CUTE,â Taeyong squealed.
Johnny clutched his chest dramatically. âMy best friendâs in love. Iâm emotional.â
Mark laughed, wiping a fake tear. âProud of you, bro.â
Jaehyun groaned, running a hand through his hair. âI regret this already.â
Y/N laughed so hard she could barely breathe. âThis is why we didnât tell you guys sooner.â
But despite the teasing and chaos, the air felt warm, full of laughter and comfort. Their friends werenât just shocked; they were happy for them.
And as Jaehyun caught Y/Nâs gaze across the noise, both of them smiling like idiots, it finally felt real, the kind of happiness that didnât need to be hidden anymore.
ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘
A few days later, Y/N and Jaehyun sat side by side at her familyâs massive dining table, the one that could easily seat twelve but somehow felt way too small tonight.
Across from them sat Y/Nâs mom, her dad, and Jaehyunâs parents who had been invited over for dinner
At least, thatâs what Y/N told them.
Her mom took a slow sip of tea, eyes sparkling with curiosity.
âSo,â she began, setting her cup down
âyou two asked to have dinner with all of us. That usually means one of two things: you broke something expensive⌠or youâre about to tell me something interesting.â
Jaehyun exchanged a nervous glance with Y/N. âUh⌠definitely the second one.â
Her mom raised an eyebrow. âOh? Go on.â
Y/N took a breath, her fingers fidgeting under the table. âOkay, so⌠Jaehyun and I are⌠kind of⌠together now.â
For a heartbeat, the entire table went quiet. Then her mom broke into a wide grin.
Y/N blinked. âWait, what?â
Her mom laughed, clapping her hands together.
âDo you think I havenât noticed the way you two look at each other? Youâve been glued together since you were five. I was just waiting for you to catch up!â
Y/N groaned and buried her face in her hands. âOh my godâŚâ
Her dad chuckled from beside her mom. âHonestly, I thought this talk wouldâve happened years ago.â
Jaehyun smiled awkwardly. âSo⌠youâre both okay with it?â
âOkay with it?â Y/Nâs mom stood up and pulled them into a hug across the table.
âSweetheart, Iâve already imagined your wedding playlist.â
Jaehyun laughed. âNo pressure or anything, right?â
Her dad gave him a teasing look. âJust make sure you keep her happy, son.â
He nodded sincerely. âAlways, sir.â
Across the table, Jaehyunâs mom had been watching the scene with a gleam in her eye.
âSee, honey?â she said, nudging her husband. âDidnât I tell you this would happen?â
Jaehyunâs dad chuckled, setting down his glass of wine.
âYou did. Though, for the record, I said it would take until college. You said high school. I win.â
Y/N gaped. âWait...you two made a bet on us?â
Jaehyunâs mom smiled proudly. âA long-running one. I just lost by a few years, but Iâll take it.â
Jaehyun groaned, leaning back in his chair. âThis is insane.â
âAdorable,â his mom corrected.
Then she turned to Y/N, her expression softening.
âSweetheart, we couldnât be happier. Youâve always been like a daughter to us.â
Y/N smiled shyly. âThank you, Mrs. Jeong.â
âPlease,â she said with a wink, âcall me Mom.â
Both Y/N and Jaehyun froze.
âToo soon?â his mom teased.
âWay too soon,â Jaehyun muttered, though he couldnât hide the grin tugging at his lips.
The rest of the night was filled with laughter, both moms planning future family dinners, both dads joking about wedding venues, and Y/Nâs little brother loudly gagging in the corner while her older sister teased,
âAbout time you two figured it out.â
And through all the noise and teasing and love, Y/N caught Jaehyunâs eyes across the table.
He gave her that soft, familiar smile â the one that said we finally did it.
It wasnât just something new anymore. It was real.
It was them, and this time, everyone knew.
ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘ââ˘
The Grand Hyatt Seoul shimmered under a warm spring sun, its glass façade glowing gold against the skyline.
From the grand ballroom terrace, the view stretched over Namsan Tower and the Han River, a perfect backdrop for the day everyone had quietly been waiting for since forever.
Today wasnât another dinner party or reunion.
Today was their day.
Y/N and Jaehyunâs wedding.
Inside, the ballroom had been transformed into something out of a dream, vory roses cascading down crystal vases, soft jazz floating through the air, candles flickering along the aisle.
The scent of peonies and champagne lingered, sweet and elegant.
Guests filled the seats, friends, family, and half of Seoulâs social circle, it seemed. Everyone knew the story childhood friends turned partners, years of quiet love finally reaching this moment.
At the front, Jaehyun stood in a sleek black suit, nerves hidden behind that calm smile he was known for.
But his hands, clasped behind his back, gave him away.
Johnny, his best man, leaned over. âYou good, man? You look like youâre trying not to pass out.â
Jaehyun exhaled slowly. âIâm fine.â
Mark grinned. âYouâve been in love with her since middle school. You better be fine.â
The guests turned as the doors opened.
Y/N walked in, her gown catching the light like liquid gold, soft waves of fabric trailing behind her.
Her veil framed her face, and when she met Jaehyunâs eyes, he forgot how to breathe.
It hit him all at once, every version of her heâd ever known.
The little girl with scraped knees.
The teenager who rolled her eyes at him.
The woman standing there now, about to become his wife.
By the time she reached him, his smile had softened into something quiet and full of awe.
âYou lookâŚâ he whispered, voice low, ââŚunreal.â
She smiled, cheeks pink. âYou clean up pretty well yourself, Mr. Jeong.â
The ceremony unfolded in soft laughter and trembling hands. When it was time for vows, Jaehyun spoke first.
âI used to think love was supposed to be loud,â he said, looking right at her.
âFireworks, chaos, everything at once. But then I met you, and it turns out, love feels a lot like peace. Like coming home.â
Y/N blinked back tears, her voice steady when she answered.
âYouâve been my best friend, my safe place, and the one person whoâs always known me better than I knew myself. And somehow, after all these years, you still make me nervous, in the best way.â
Their friends clapped, their moms cried openly, and even both dads had to wipe their eyes behind sunglasses.
When the officiant finally said, âYou may kiss the bride,â Jaehyun didnât hesitate, he pulled her close and kissed her, laughter mixing with cheers around them.
Mark shouted, âAbout time!â
Johnny yelled, âTold you heâd cry first!â
Jungwoo stood on a chair, filming everything.
Yuta raised a glass. âTo Seoulâs favorite couple!â
Later that night, the ballroom became a haze of light and music.
the DJ, kept the dance floor alive. Friends spilled champagne, the moms danced like they were twenty again, and the dads gave matching toasts that somehow turned into a debate about who knew the couple longer.
At one point, Y/Nâs mom leaned toward Jaehyunâs. âYou know, maybe itâs time we start planning the next big thing.â
Jaehyunâs mom grinned. âGrandkids?â
Their husbands groaned. âHere we go again.â
The newlyweds just laughed, clinking their glasses together.
Hours later, when the music had quieted and the lights dimmed, Jaehyun and Y/N slipped out onto the terrace overlooking the city.
The night air was cool, scented with flowers and champagne. Below, the city sparkled, the same Seoul that had been the backdrop to every chapter of their story.
Y/N leaned against the railing, still glowing, still in disbelief. âWe actually did it,â she whispered.
Jaehyun slipped an arm around her, resting his forehead against hers. âTook us long enough.â
She smiled. âWorth the wait.â
He kissed her gently, his voice barely above a breath. âAlways you.â
From inside came the sound of their friends calling for one last dance.
Y/N laughed, tugging him back toward the doors.
âCome on, Mr. Jeong. One more for the night.â
And as they stepped back into the golden light of the ballroom ,surrounded by laughter, music, and everyone who had loved them from the start, it felt like the perfect ending to everything that came before.
Or maybe, just the beginning.
Because for Y/N and Jaehyun,
it had always been this
love that grew quietly,
lasted loudly,
and finally,
forever.
