"Don't be logical, be desperate."
The conversation House hallucinated with Stacy in the last episode probably followed the same formula which all of their disagreements and arguments used to do. Specially the ones they had while in the hospital for his infarction, the fights they had after, and the one that finally led to their break up. Which is:
Stacy tried to play House's game at first. Challenge his logic. Have counterpoints ready for all of his arguements. Speak his language.
House: Pascal's wager is facile.
Stacy: Saying it's facile is facile. Why is it wrong?
House: But you can't live your life based on something you don't believe.
Stacy: But you could end your life based on something you don't believe?
When that failed, she resorted to language maybe a more "normal" couple would. "What about love?"
Make the arguement that love is worth it. That people can become better. That it's not too late. There's still hope. That he's not as damaged and as irredeemable and unfixable as he believes himself to be. That change, even awful ones, don't have to be the end of all good there is.
House: People don't change. Consciences don't spontaneously develop.
Stacy: You're wrong Greg. Which is why you'll be better off without him [Wilson]. You've been looking to him to find what you've gotta find within yourself. Something you can find.
House: This is a reason to die. This is what my life could've been, not what it can be.
Stacy: If it could have been, you're capable of it now.
And when that also failed, then... desperate pleading.
Begging him to not give up. To help himslef. To do the hard thing. To not sentence himself to eternal misery.
You do not have to die in here!
