Some of my costume illustrations for Uglies!

Arc one Eursulon is getting by as best he can. He wears a Bear tooth necklace as a link to his father and the golden pauldron that first tempted him to the mortal world, although he keeps it covered with his cloak to avoid prying eyes.

Arc two Eursulon has committed to the training of the Citadel and has taken on the title of Protector of the Wizard Sky. He now wears a uniform and the emblem of the city. The leather belt and shoulder details reflect the rigidity of the Citadel as well as the constraining of Eursulon's true Wild nature.

Arc three Eursulon is free to display his true self as a the Guardian of the Witch of the World's Heart and a member of her retinue. He once again displays his pauldron and the green and brown earthy colors reflect his reunion with his family. He still wears the belt of the Citadel and bracers bearing the Citadel's crest as a reflection of the skills taught to him by the Wizard Steel and his continued commitment to protect the Wizard Sky.

Suvi Outfit Breakdown

Ame Outfit Breakdown

Arc one Ame is a mosaic of all her fractured knowledge. She wears textures and patterns in an outfit thrown together from pieces she's collected over the years. She is searching for the cohesion and understanding that was taken from her.

Arc two Ame is recovering in the Citadel from the breaking of her curse. She is reunited with her training and must come to terms with the station she has inherited. She wears the white of death-like sickness and a simple vest. She has come undone and is now putting the pieces of herself back together. She is overwhelmed by duty.

Arc three Ame has stepped into her station as Witch of the World's Heart. Her success at the Coven of Elders has won her the right to her seat. She is confident and self-actualized, still wearing collected pieces of her history, but in a cohesive way she was unable to achieve before.

Suvi Outfit Breakdown

Eursulon Outfit Breakdown

Arc one Suvi is a soldier. She wears the rigidity of her Citadel uniform like armor. Her cloak and bracers bear the sigil of the Citadel, proudly displaying her affiliation. She does not question or doubt as she follows the rules and her training diligently.

Arc two Suvi is back on her home turf. She ascends to the position she has been striving for her whole life, becoming the Wizard Sky. She wears her new name-cloak with pride, evoking the clouds and stars of her new domain.

Arc three Suvi is marred by betrayal. Her clothes have once again become armor. She wears a cloak of velvet, black as the night sky. The bands of fabric tie around her like her soldier's uniform did as she re-dedicates herself to the things she values: structure, hierarchy, order, and obedience.
