A word I learned from Sherlock Holmes.
Hot on the heels of 20th Century Fox's release of the Basil Rathbone version of The Hound of the Baskervilles, Jack Benny and his co-stars tried their hand at the famous murder mystery.

The official poster for the Rose Theatre Companyâs production of Youâve Ruined a Perfectly Good Mystery, an interactive Sherlock Holmes spoof I co-wrote. The interactive element is that periodically, The Narrator will ask the audience to choose what path The Detective and The Doctor should pursue in their investigation, and the scene that follows is the one chosen by audience response. The Narratorâs and The Detectiveâs respective attitudes about the adventure are perfectly represented here.
Dear aspiring actors in San Antonio, Youâve Ruined A Perfectly Good Mystery auditions are being held in the Rose Theatre on Feburary 15th at 7PM.
The director asks that you prepare a 1-2 min comedy monologue, and also be prepared to read from the script.
Also be prepared to let them know if you can fight and possibly demonstrate.

Play summary:
The worldâs most famous investigator clashes with the worldâs most preposterous narrator in âYouâve Ruined a Perfectly Good Mystery!â a play that hilariously exploits and subverts theatrical conventions and classic detective stories. Audiences decide which clues the detective and his associate follow in a fantastic investigation that features entertaining combat, dastardly schemes inspired by Victorian-era science fiction, an increasingly vexed protagonist, and cultural references as diverse as Shakespeare, Abbott & Costello, Oscar Wilde, and Monkey Island video games. Written by Christian Neuhaus and Rick Stemm, directed by Matthew Byron Cassi.
It is a delight indeed to see people liking and reblogging an audition notice for the Sherlock Holmes spoof I co-wrote.
