Klaus often wonders if all the times he showed her mercy have made her forget that he is a monster.

Oh, he knows he has grown soft. He has known this is a battle long lost ever since she laid dying on a couch and the sound of her struggling heart made him a desperate man. He is greedy, you see. He never gives without receiving, but she became the exception.

Since that night of blood and kindness and her hair pressed against his lips... He has known that he is no longer who he once was. That, for her, he is something else entirely.

But Christ–

The way she wanders into his city now, into his house. Wearing that dress and demanding his time and his kisses and his patience... Klaus has lost all dignity. And he knows he ought to care more, but– dignity doesn't taste quite as sweet as her, and its skin doesn't feel as soft beneath his fingertips.

"Caroline," he breathes against her lips.

Caroline. Caroline. Caroline. Caroline. Caroline.

Such a pretty name. It rolls of his tongue with unquenched delight. It's not often he gets to say it these days. It feels like sacrilege uttering it when she isn't around and he is nothing if not a dedicated devotee.

She pulls back to look at him, and he doesn't know how much she can see. How much she can understand.

"It's been a while," he says. Accuses, really.

It makes the corner of her lips curl into a smile. She arches one of her brows at him as she gives him a once over with a look that can't be mistaken for anything other than the challenge it is. "Since sex?"

Cruel little thing, never willing to give him an inch. But he loves her sharp tongue almost as much as he loves her sharp teeth, and he can't help it. He reaches to touch her, tracing her lips with his fingertips.

"Since you," he corrects.

Her mouth opens underneath his touch, and he can't quite decide whether he finds it endearing or annoying. Is it sweet or frustrating that she still gets surprised by his adoration? Oh, little love, how many times does he have to prove himself to you?

He feels like Sisyphus, convincing her of his devotion each time she visits, but she always leaves and forgets all about it.

Centuries later, when this story gets told, they say she did it for him.

In truth, she does it for herself.

The ocean is a big place, but it's not big enough to escape her father's wrath when she refuses to marry the man he chose for her. It would be a perfect alliance, she knows. But she does not love him, and she saw what a loveless marriage did to her parents.

So Caroline runs.

She trades her tail for legs, and she doesn't look back.

They'll say she lost her voice, but that's not quite true. The witch who helps her is a friend, and she doesn't let her leave the ocean without her biggest weapon: her voice and the enchantment that comes with it.

She makes a life for herself that way. Human men's minds are easily swayed by her pretty songs and she finds a house and a job and a semblance of safety.

What is true, however, is that her voice does not work on him.

Klaus comes in and terrorizes the bar where she works. And when she tells him to leave, he just looks at her like she's an intriguing little thing.

It makes her furious. It makes her curious.

Enough so that she lingers. She learns his secret — he's not really human, not anymore. So she runs again. Only... he chases her.

He catches her, too. And this time he learns her secret.

What a pretty monster, he says, and he means it. Something in his eyes tell her he is wondering what she tastes like, and yet somehow that doesn't make her scared enough to flee again.

„Have you seen my… nevermind.“

In which they’d like to hold on to each other’s clothes.

It’s obviously a photo of a photo, and just like Kirishima said, they’re sleeping on a beanbag next to each other. They’re probably about four years old, Deku in his All Might pajamas and Bakugou clutching his All Might figurine with one hand, and Deku’s hand with the other. He has no memory of whatever sleepover this was.

Kissing tears away… Sorry for the repost! I do believe tumblr, for whatever reason, blocked my first time posting this from being seen in the tags! I don’t know why, but I want to try again. 

“U-uh? Bakugou?” Kirishima squeaked, but Bakugou just made a disgruntled noise and practically curled up into him. He buried his face into Kirishima’s chest, his hands trapped between their bodies as if he’s cold, and Kirishima shifted because this isn’t a comfortable position– but he doesn’t push Bakugou off, of course not. He only fixed himself so that his back was leaning against the arm of the chair, his legs tangled with Bakugou’s but mostly caging him in, and then he realized that Bakugou has passed out and is sleeping deeply against his chest.

“He’s like a cat!” Kaminari hissed, bewildered.

“He, uh,” Kirishima panicked, his ears red, unsure if he should put a stop to this because Bakugou might kill him for it later. “He gets weirdly clingy when he’s sleepy.”

I didn’t think he’d be like this with other people around, though, Kirishima wanted to say– however, that would be exposing too much about them, wouldn’t it? They’re just friends, but this– okay, maybe they had to have a talk about this at some point.

Sero raised an eyebrow. “Of course you’d know that, huh? You guys do this a lot?”
