Little Noct smiled wide and giggled, happy that his dad loved the gift. When he was lifted the boy hugged Regis’ neck. He was so happy just to have time with his dad, he didn’t care about a present.

Or so Noctis thought until he saw a kitten in the King’s chair. He couldn’t help the little squeal of delight but he did cover his mouth to keep from doing it again. “Kitty..” The boy tries his best to keep quiet and not scare his new friend. “Daddy, it’s a kitty!”

Regis chuckled and nodded, setting his son down so he could go see the kitten, “Yes, it is a kitty, I thought you might be ready for a pet of your own,” He told his son, taking the drawing to put safely in a box of other gifts from his boy over the years. It was important to keep all the memories, “We will have to think of a good name for her.”

Noctis slowly approached the little kitten. She was black and had big golden eyes and he loved her instantly. The little mewl and purring coming from the kitten had him giggling. His giggling increased when she swatted playfully at his hand.

“Midnight! I wanna name her Midnight.” The child picked up his kitten gingerly and hugged her close as she purred. “Is it a good name, Daddy?”

“Daddy?” The little boy’s eyes were open wide, pleading. “I maded you a Valentimes card. There was a picture drawn on it of Regis reading him a bedtime story. Both figures were smiling.

Regis look the card and smiled, looking at the image affectionately before tucking it safely in his pocket. Carefully Regis picked up his son to carry him, “I got you a gift as well,” He told his son before balancing him on one hip, using his cane to walk them down the hall, “Let’s be careful not to startle him, alright?” He said as he entered his office where a kitten had taken over his chair.

He wasn't tired. Despite the constant head bobbing, heavy eyelids, and yawning. He just need some strong coffee and he would be find. But...The green house was so warm...Warm enough to take a nap...NO! No. He had to stay awake, Fonn was with him and she had dragged one of his moggle slippers out of his room and was carrying it around like a prized kill. Better take that from her before Regis sees - he didn't want to offend the king after all.

Regis had been watching for a while before leaving and returning with a blanket to drape over the young man, “You need to rest. One can hardly take care of anything if they cannot keep their eyes opened,” He did not mind about the slipper, that could easily be replaced.
