Papyrus was currently chained by his collar to a stake in the ground. He sat in the snow, leaning against the shed, straining to keep himself conscious for the moment. The skeleton had endured one of the worst beatings of his life after making serious mistakes that had gotten Sans into trouble at work.

So Papyrus sat in the snow which had long since soaked through his pajama pants and thin t-shirt, rendering his clothing nearly worthless against the winter wind. He’d been stripped of his jacket and shoes earlier that morning, meaning his winter attire was missing. The skeleton’s face was covered in dark black and purple bruises, and both of his legs had shattered. One arm was broken, the other sprained, and he had broken nearly all of the bones in his torso-six ribs, a few fractured vertebrae, both clavicles shattered, and his pelvis. He was also bleeding out of several wounds from locations he wasn’t even sure about.

To make matters worse, Sans had chained him up in the cold outside when it was meant to snow and told him if he fell asleep *one more time* he was going to regret ever being born.

Needless to say, Papyrus was miserable.

“And allies were just people you had to watch your back around but who sometimes could have your back in certain situations It’s all just a ‘you help me, I’ll help you’ to get something on both sides.” He sighed. “So you always have to have your guard up around everybody and can’t ever give anyone else any ammunition to use against you, or else… somebody’s gonna stab you in the back and get you dusted at some point… You can’t show any weakness or else… That’s it. Dead.”

A friend is both. a friend is someone ya can trust. and has your back. But also someone you can actually depend on. you can call on them for anything. ya gotta splinter in your spine. call me. ya bleedin’ like hellsfire? Call me. you want advise (cause clearly ya gonna need some) Call me. Thatsort of thing. A friend is someone willing to risk… an arm and a leg for your well bein. 

He looked dead center at the others eye sockets. 

“And didnt i jus’ do that for you? And i didnt even ask for you to help me out.” Granted the other was literally sitting there like a bump on a log and didnt even ask if Pup had a problem. That needed to be fixed. 

“A Friend, is someone that if anyone outside didnt know better, be close relatives. Not by blood, by relationship only…. and you…. heh… you clearly need one. you don’ even know what you need!” He playfully growled. 

His energy was waning. Look…. i dont know what things you went through… but i clearly went through more of the torture shizzle than you have given that you can readily feel fine after being healed. I get healed, and gimme a week and i might jus be able to sit up. heh….. You are missin out on a lotta stuff. And.. i dont know why i even bothered savin your life.”

“Y-know.... Im glad you can help anyway you can. its a n-nice thing to do... h-heh.... I.. was k-kinda resolving to j-just die... right.. h-here....” He heaved and coughed some, but nothing too bad.
