Wandered into an art museum today and saw Matisse

Over the past few months, I’ve noticed it becoming harder to breathe, with my throat feeling scratchy and my chest tight. At first, it seemed like only one color Titanium White was bothering me, so I simply wore a mask while working.

ここ数ヶ月の間に、呼吸がしづらくなり、喉のイガイガや胸の締めつけを感じるようになりました。最初はチタニウムホワイトという一色だけに反応していると思い、作業中はマスクを着用するようにしていました。

Unfortunately, even that stopped helping. What I once thought was an issue with just the white paint has now extended to the other colors as well. It's quite sad as my paper cut work relies heavily on acrylics.

しかし、残念ながらそれでも症状は改善されず、白だけの問題だと思っていたものが、他の色にも広がってしまいました。私の切り絵作品はアクリル絵の具に大きく依存しているため、とても悲しい気持ちです。

Watercolor, oil, gouache, and even poster colors either aren’t vivid enough on the delicate paper I use or tend to damage it. Poster colors and gouache, while closer in texture, have the added issue of reactivating (sweaty hand, hot weather, glue etc.).

水彩、油絵、ガッシュ、ポスターカラーなども試しましたが、私が使っている繊細な紙には発色が足りなかったり、紙を傷めてしまったりします。ガッシュやポスターカラーは質感がアクリルに近いものの、汗ばんだ手や暑さ、接着剤などで絵の具が再活性化してしまうという問題があります。

So, for the time being, I'll step away from it. Back to oil, watercolor and crayons!
